This short movie shows my Papa Ilaqe in recent years. It includes footage where he watches movies taken in 1983, when he and his friend Homate made traditional salt from the ashes of grasses. It also shows him singing along to a recording I made after our wedding, when Ilaqe and his friends sang old love songs and other songs, including a song of he and I making salt together. Ilaqe was born in...

You are right. I suspect you are my old friend Dominic's son or grandson! There is brief film of Dominic, and other film of us at Togoba, and plenty of film of both Pady Kongupa and his father Kongupa. Poiya was quite a leader. I love the film where he checks his appearance in the mirror. I still remember taking that film, and thinking how beautiful it was, as he checked that everything was in order!

I could see my maternal grandmother and her late brother, Jeremiah Noldi Pakanda. Shed a few tears. Thank you Andrew Collins.

Hi keapkang, I'm glad you could see my movie! You may like some photos from 1980 and 1982 of Noldi and Pakanda. (I have very fond memories of Noldi going back to 1972, when I spent a lot of time with him.) I have included a few of Kukumul and Ai, hoping I have the right branch of the family, and a couple of others of Jim Kongupa and children from 1982. The photos can be accessed at photos.app.goo.gl/cbG77GkB9dPbpXCL7, with best wishes Andrew

@@andrewcollins8548 thank you for sharing these photos with me. My grandmother was Noldi's sister and one of Pakanda's many daughters and her name is Mipil. I vividly remember Pakanda as I was born in 83 and he probably passed away in 1990 ( I am not sure)

Hi Mathias, I'm so glad the bamboo flute brought back such memories. And I am so glad that these recordings at either Kondala or Rokglamp, over 40 years ago, are now being enjoyed by others. I have always regarded these movies and recordings to be amongst my most precious possessions. Andrew/KK Andy
