Honestly watching this in 2024, I'm getting goosebumps over the analysis, obviously not 100% correct but I like how you nailed it with the observations of most of the contestants, and how each contestant is used for clout.

Found this after ZB1 members have been chosen. I went and watched the series again and took notes. I knew that Han Bin and Zhao would be chosen from the beginning. They were both promising and good partners. Jiwoong was my favorite because I knew his bio and back story. Jiwoong was the person to go to. He is a good listener and his visuals are undeniable. I was a bit worried when he dropped in ranking. Yujin was so lovable and they showcased him a lot. Park Gun Wook, I could see his potential and power. I could see him fighting for a spot each week. He is an all-rounder. Seok Matthew, I was surprised on his top ranking at first but now that I’ve gone back to watch him. He has such a great personality. I think being close to Han Bin and also Jiwoong helped him. Matthew had a lot of good singing parts and was showcased a lot by producers. Kim Tae Rae was not a strong candidate out of the top contestants. He was showcased a little but then he made a wise choice in “Man in Love” That song put him in the spotlight. Out of all of the members, his voice is the most distinctive. The viewers and myself fell in love with his voice and dimples. Gyuvin and Ricky had some really good edits. I think they were helped by the producers and fan base. Gyuvin is underestimated. I saw his performances again and he is a strong dancer and I don’t think he has had a strong vocal part but he is so good looking. He got a huge advantage when he received the bonus points and Love Killa” received the award for the week. For me, Ricky’s personality puts me off. But I’m warming up to him since the debut. Hui was my favorite and the most talented singer. His voice is The Best out of all of the 93 contestants. He ranked high because of his fan base but then I think his fans brought him down too. It was clear midway in the season that people did not want him to break from Pentagon. I think Hui didn’t fit the vision that the producers had for this new group. I became of fan of Hui and Pentagon because he deserves to be supported. Now for the ones on the edge of debuting: Keita, I think he is definitely talented and would have been a good addition due to his rapping and dance skills. But I think he is not memorable enough when up against the others. I loved him in “Zoom” Jay, so close. He is likeable and talented. I can’t say anything else. He deserves to debut. His voice is the best along with Hui. Jay should have received more votes but he was always getting pushed to the background, maybe because he’s too American? Park Han Bin, he was always one of my picks. He was always smiling. I loved him in “Law”. I watched that performance again. It was such an amazing performance and Han Bin was a strong leader. Top 20 we’re all strong contenders. Yoon Jongwoo, his performance in Back Door is unforgettable. Seo Won-cutest smile, always gave his best Seung Eon-beautiful vocal in Say My Name Wang Xi Hao was strong performer too In the end, anyone in top 20 were candidates. There could have been 2 groups to debut. ZB1 is doing awesome. The guys are working everyday to be successful. They are on their way with a couple of Music Award show wins.

Honestly, it's so boring how you can predict everything in these survival shows. The editors of the footage obviously manipulate it to benefit their own opinion, but it's just too obvious how some trainees will make it or not, because their voters aren't voting for them due to their skills, it's very often just visuals and simply because they have popularity from their backstory (Kim Jiwoong, Kim Gyuvin, Lee Yujin, Kim Hoetaek, Ricky) Zhanghao and Sung Hanbin were unquestionable as they took care of the center parts, which grant them their debut. The only ones we actually couldn't predict all that much were Matthew, Taerae and Gunwook, and all this is because of Mnet manipulation: Taerae definitely wouldn't have debuted if Mnet did not make it obvious at the pre-check that they want him to debut, and Matthew almost didn't debut due to the pre-check too. (Mnet only shows the low ranking of some trainees when they want them higher, and obviously, they would never want a global trainee, such as Matthew, to debut.) Gunwook was the only genuine surprise, as I personally had no idea about his immense one-pick power.

The way this aged, anyway! Zhang Hao and Ricky is gonna have a hard time with Jiwoong, Hao because he's a BL consumer, Ricky because he has a crush on Jiwoong lmao /j

I haven't produced a single kpop artist in my life but these huge corporations who have made kpop a worldwide cultural phenomenon don't know what they're doing

came back here after the announcement. u predicted the k:g ratio of 6:3 and got the 5/9, not bad. i'm happy matthew made it but it saddens me that keita was the one who pulled yurina card.

u predicted more than a half of the lineup which is already crazy the ones you missed, taerae had craazy korean fanbase, which definitely carried him (also panic voting definitely helped) ricky had huge intl fanbase and towards the end, he managed to get korean fanbase too, so he made it! matthew is the same case as ricky, him blowing up on tiktok even more personally, i was only surprised by gunwook and really underestimated his one pick fanbase

So i just remembered watching this video and it's quite fun to look back, I mean in the end you got 5/9 right, but 2/9 didn't even make the final round, it just shows how there are some more or less 'fixed' contestants from the start but also some really unpredictable rises (which is part of the fun while watching)

Coming to this vid after the finale and 5/9 predictions were true, and I'd also like to share my thoughts on what happened. Most surprising thing that happened: Zhanghao center, 4 yuehuaz, C-line being in top 4. And explanations for why I think each member debuted and why I think Keita didnt bcs he was so robbed. - Zhang Hao: Loved by both knetz and intl fans, pretty obvious - Sung Hanbin: Same explanation as hao. - Seok Matthew: Say My Name edit almost became his down fall, but seokryudans went crazy in final week. - Ricky: Popular from PR video and a lot of knetz liked him - Gunwook: Im not super sure but i think his is from promotions his fans did + appeal his personality - Taerae: got low screentime till the very end but knetz fell in love from vids like ireumi boyeo and man in love. last interim woke up kkultaraes who were rotating and managed to put him back in top 9 Gyuvin: Extremely popular in korea but got unnecessary hate from intl voters and got called a "dozen" (term should've never left ncity) Jiwoong: Pre-show popularity but also got hate from ppl who watched the show exclusively on TikTok Yujin: Again popularity in Korea, almso thought he wasnt ginna make it bcs i didn't see that many votes in one pick but k-netz saved him Why Keita didn't debut: Although extremely popular internationally he got a lot of hate from knetz foe the most uselsess things and P18 in k-votes.

I disagree, I DO think mnet has the rigging power. Just not in the same way as they did in Produce series. I have my theories on how they are doing it but just having SK votes still weighing more is flat out cheating. They’re just being up front about it. Sigh….this season’s Yurina AND Su Ruiqi was Keita. So disappointing.

Honestly... I just want Yujin, Gyuvin and Jiwoong out of the lineup. I don't like seeing little kids being sexualized (Yujin), nor trainees being so supported by Koreans simply for being tall and a visual (Gyuvin, fyi I get that he is a decent dancer but there r better ones), nor pre-famous people debuting in a show where every trainee should have equal chances, and on top of that many just simp for his visuals (Jiwoong)

Tbh right now there are six fixed spot in the debut line up, shanbin, yujin, jiwoong, taerae, matthew, zhang hao, are the most likely trainees to debut as they have strong korean support. the other three spots aren't fixed but I feel like hui, keita, gunwook, gyuvin are most likely gonna be the candidates for it. tbh the second elimination top 9 are perfect and predictable, they could debut right now and be successful but idk one pick might do wonders, we'll just have to wait.

everyone already said the things that I wanted to say about JYP but thank you for recognizing what pisses me off about their girl group management the most: to me it feels like they base each new comeback off of addressing the criticism the most recent one got (Loco to Sneakers to Cheshire, Dice to Love Me Like This, etc). I know this is probably not how it works behind the scenes, but like. their producers just don’t seem to have confidence in their long-term visions for their artists, and it keeps their groups from building solid fan bases, as they ping-pong between different segments and preferences of the fandom. To me, especially for NMIXX - where it felt to me like they were Shocked that an esoteric mixxpop concept wasn’t an instant smash success like aespa’s was - and itzy - where they first tried to appease fans who got sick of teen crush, then appease the ones who got sick of girl crush, then appease the ones who hated sneakers - I feel like they’re trying to find out the perfect sound that pleases all fans, and that sound probably isn’t out there, but by bouncing around and chasing trends in hopes of popularity, no one is ever really consistently pleased, which is a dicey strategy for building fan support. I don’t think I explained this very well and I’m almost certainly wrong, but I also find the trend-chasing exhausting. Really enjoyed this video 10/10

I was nodding throughout the whole video, you nailed the points perfectly. Sm lacks diversity and selling this smcu concept with all their groups really mixed them together (kind of like what Disney did in the 2000s with their starts having the same brand), yg can’t seem to move on from ideas that are over 10 years old, jyp really doesn’t have a vision (I once readed that they were the followers, not the trendsetters and really makes sense, like snsd twice, weki meki itzy, aespa nmixx, seeing a group with their concept and trying to make it) and hybe’s peoduction is struggling, at least in hybe not all their groups have this problem since pledis and ador doesn’t follow that (@bighit producers, bring bridges back, we need something like 0X1=Lovesong’s bridge again)

I am a HYBE stan so I completely agree with your thoughts there I don't understand why they keep cutting the bridges out when you have such strong vocalists in these groups

I'm a jype groups stan and "throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks" is EXACTLY what they do, and I think this comes from a lack of strong creative directors in any division. With the exception of skz who keep cohesion through their music since they make it themselves, all the other groups are kinda having a musical identity crisis and it's all bc jype do not know how to stick besides a concept and also have no idea how to develop discographies in a natural way, which makes the shift in concept always jarring
