Scot, I would come down almost 100% on your side of this debate. That said, I disagree with your take on the inerrancy (or rather, lack thereof) of Scripture. However, Jay, while claiming to believe in Scripture's inerrancy, contradicts it at nearly every turn by claiming that it says things that it doesn't say. You said in your closing statement that Jay "continues to make arguments from the Bible" and that that was an example of circular reasoning. I would argue that precisely zero of Jay's arguments actually come from the Bible, but rather from the mouth of his pastor, who got those arguments from the mouth of his pastor, and so on. You did a great job of pointing out the inconsistencies in Jay's (and by proxy the UPCI/oneness) position, and did so with grace (that you didn't have to earn, by the way! 😉) and humility. Jay, if you read this comment, thanks for agreeing to be a part of this, and I hope you come back for Round 2! Not a lot of oneness folks do these anymore after David Bernard's and Roger Perkins' horrendous showings against James White a few years back. The bible is full of prophecy. Much has been fulfilled. There is still more to come. Almost all Christians believe in Christs return. The bible speaks of things that will happen before that happens. The Ezekiel war cannot be written off. Most Christians who say they stand with Israel, would stand with any other sovereign nation that has seen its residents butchered and kidnapped ie Ukraine. If you don’t stand with Israel then you stand with Hamas. It’s a lot easier to say love your enemies when you haven’t just had your baby beheaded. When Christ comes back He is coming with a sword, not love. Also Israel. The only country in the world who when they win a war and gain land, are persuaded to give land back again. Then what happens. I was so disturbed by the way Israel treating their neighbours. Eye for an Eye sums it up. Being a stern Christian, at a point I questioned my own faith, why Jesus why. I went on an in person job interview in 2021, and the man had the audacity to say that I was well spoken and presented myself well as if it was a surprise that I was educated, articulate and dressed professionally. 🤦🏽‍♀️ He then proceeded to give me some very poor and unsolicited advice in an attempt to believe he was helping me get a job.
