I loved this episode, Amy!
only take black sabbaths!
I know it has already been years since you posted the video, but when did you fully recovered?
Eisenhower Pres. Library in Kansas is amazing. Agree, church is a great place to make new friends and it feels good to serve others.
Starting on the 10th. I turn 55 on the 9th. I have an assisted stretching session the day before in preparation. Trying to incorporate something that will help me build my muscles into my walking only routine.
What a great birthday present to yourself! enjoy!
Can you add the links that were mentioned? thank you!

Thank you Amy! Wonderful Resources ❤️
I'm so glad you found it helpful!
So men don't get it? Do we need our own doctor?
Love goblet squats! Try to work your way down deeper over time. Wider stance and elbows should go inside the knees at the bottom of the movement. I'm 65 and love them: th-cam.com/video/16w6ixZAf1w/w-d-xo.htmlsi=zEF31iz-6uigG-LM
Thank you Amy!! Your video gives me hope. I just received ciguatera last week and have been scared when I read online the long term effects. I am 27, very active lifestyle, healthy diet, and have been amazed at how hard this has taken me back. On that note, I was wondering.... what symptoms did you have the first 48 hours? I am curious if the extremeness of ours is similar.... As well as at what point did you start your regular diet you had prior to the ciguatera and how did you feel? Thank you for your time!
My pleasure Alex. I'm sorry you have it and I'm here to give you hope that it does get better. My symptoms the first 48 hours were extreme vomiting, diarrhea, and fatigue. I didn't even have the energy to make it from the toilet to the bed and just laid down on the bathroom floor (plus the cool tile felt nice). I also had neuropathy in my feet and extreme itching in areas you don't want to scratch in public. I also had the condition where my hands burned when I washed them with cold water (I can't remember the name of it). Buckle up - it took a solid six weeks to feel back to normal. Give yourself grace and time. I followed the nutrition changes I mentioned for a solid six weeks as well (including abstaining from alcohol). Basically plant-based but keeping nuts out was really hard. Review labels on everything, and don't forget that plant-based milks like almond milk have, well, almonds. (Dairy jacks with my system so I couldn't do regular milk. Oat milk to the rescue!) On the advice of a physician who had long-term ciguatera whom I was lucky enough to get connected with, I refrained from all fish products for a year. It may be that I could have had it prior but I didn't want to risk causing a relapse. I wish you luck and patience. You'll get there but it will take time. Take it easy and drink lots of fluids.
How are you Alex, are you recovered, how did you manage it?
Seems like a good one to do during the workday!
Yes that's a great idea! You could do one leg in the AM and the other in the PM or just alternate legs.
Thank you for the information
You bet! Hope it helps!
I like this set up but what are you using for an ankor? Thanks so much! p
Great question! The bands I’m using have an anchor that comes with it. You put the anchor in a door frame and adjust it to the height you want. These are the bands if you’re interested (aff link) amzn.to/3aZg7IK
Thank you so much! I just went to Amazon and put a set in my cart. They are very nice and quite a good price too! So appreciate you! Blessings, p@@amyconnell
@@Blessedpbglad it helped. Happy pulling!😉
not sure any ofthat would change a recovery from ciguatera poisioning.. do you have any evidence for the recomendations in the video? or just "it worked for me" .... i put a tin foil hat on and in 'my opinion' the aliens can no longer talk to me while I sleep. It is such a relief.
I mention early on I am not a doctor and these are things that worked for me. Perhaps you missed that part. And honestly the desperation is so strong in the early days of ciguatera that had someone told me to put a foil hat on while I slept I would have tried it :) It probably wouldn’t have helped; these did.
Sometimes when I start a run, I find my hips are tight and will stretch at stoplights, which seems to help. Is there a certain type of stretching that would be most beneficial while you're working out?
Great question! If you're paused at a stoplight, absolutely stretch but I would keep it dynamic (continually moving) or just pause 5-10 seconds rather than a long hold. As far as what stretch - just whatever feels right! One to try: stand with your feet slightly wider than your hips and toes slightly turned in and shift your hips back and forth. Play around with pushing your rear back or forward. The important thing is tuning in to what your body needs. Hope that helps!
Thank you@@amyconnell ! I usually do something kind of like a chair pose, with one leg crossed while I hold onto a stoplight or pole and lean back. I appreciate your feedback.
@@happysasquatch of course! I call that a "Figure 4" stretch ... but fitness folks often have different names for the same move. that's a great one for your hips!
I just went for my first class yesterday and loved it so excited to start this journey🥰

Great Video! I'm 59 and feel we as women need to learn about estrogen & calcium. My 80+ year old female friends have fallen down stairs and if they had been on estrogen they might have survived?
Great reminders, Amy! I need to reread The Blue Zones. I’m definitely going to be putting the 80% rule in to practice as we travel and visit family. I can’t choose what foods are going to be available, but I can choose how much of them I will eat.
Yes that’s great! And it gives us the freedom to enjoy the people with without worrying about what we eat.
I was taking magnesium tablets dissolved in water at night time I had to get up ten times to pee , pharmacist told me that it will help you to sleep, thank you pharmacist I feel so screwed
Very beautiful videos but your video does not have SEO and if you do not do SEO, your video will not go viral To make the video viral, you have to do SEO in your video thank you

I haven't pooped in 10 days, post op, tried all the things... Doc said Mag citrate took 1.5 bottles... I was writing my will BUTT it worked and I survived lol ❤🎉
Sources? Or stop spread lies
I thought it was for a laxative
Yes, it is used for that as well! That's why you need to choose the right Mg supplement for you based on your symptoms.

Thank youuu i have been watching so many videos since got ciguatera it last saturday (i’m 90% sure it is that). And got so depressed reading the symptoms could last for years… i have been doing keto for more than one month so i think it will be easy to not ear fish chicken or pork… i will try probiotics and all the other things you suggest, also taking antiallergic pills every night and equinaccea
I hope it continues to help you. Ciguatera is such a frustrating disease and it feels like it will never end. With time and patience, it does though!
I admire american forthrightness here- good teachers
Agree 100% I am 72 Started pilates day 1 during covid
That's awesome - I hope you continue to enjoy it!
thank you!
You're welcome! I hope it helps!
Great stretch! I used to modification to drop on my knee and on my elbows and it worked fine that way.
So much after 3 classes I signed up for teacher training ❤❤❤
Awesome!!! Way to go!
Thank you, amy. Im going to get a band and try this.💓
I’d love to hear how it goes!
Thank you.
Interesting to know. I'm on day 4 and every time I take just one (dosage is 2 @ 250 mg each), I get a bad sinus headache. On the plus side I'm having more energy and have been feeling pretty good on 5 hours of sleep instead of my usual 8.
Did you use the restroom on the first day of taking it? I took my first dosage yesterday before bed and still haven’t used the restroom. I also took a dosage of 250
I’m taking antihistamines. Can I take magnesium citrate?
Use bisglycinate and malate, not citrate. Citrate isn't called shitrate for nothing.
Amy, thanks so much for both of these tips! Also, my foam roller is rock hard, so I need to order the one you’re using!😀
You are welcome! The melt foam roller is awesome…totally worth it!
This was super helpful. I’ve been running and hitting weights pretty hard - all with incessant right hip pain. Realized it’s likely my IT band and will be immediately using these tips! Thank you 🤠
As wonderful as running is, I've found it requires a bit more TLC with my IT band and hips. Glad this was helpful!
Super helpful!
So good to hear! thanks for your feedback!
I’m thinking of going as it’s new in town and I keep seeing FB, etc for it. Your video answered ALL the questions I had had. Except price but I can do that. Lol. Thank you.
I'm so glad this helped! I assume price varies by location so just give them a call or find them online. Please let me know how your experience was and good luck!
