You can't count either. That looks like a 2-10-10-2 to me, not a 2-10-10-10-2.
@@James_Knott I know it's not a picture of a 2-10-10-10-2 but I never use pictures of the actual locomotive, I have an entire video explaining how this series works that you can find in the playlist 🤠
I have another so in 2004 csx commissioned ge and emd to build a loco together ( kinda wierd but whatever) what the two came up with was the sd94acw a 6850hp behemoth of a loco csx ordered 1 and tested it in coal service and it proved successful so csx ordered 99 more units with the first thirty (including the demonstration unit)into ac60cw yn2 and the rest in yn3 the locos would combine elements of the dash-9 ac44cw and sd90mac like the cab of the dash-9 and the radiators of the sd90mac and the fuel tanks of the ac44cw the unit would wiegh 455000 pounds have 210000 starting and 198800 pounds continues. 30 of the units were retired when everyone's favorite railroad man, E Hunter Harrison, deemed 30 of the engines to be surplus. The 30 that were retired were sent up to ltex for leasing and for shortline use with most of the units being kept on the roster you can still find them roaming around on the rails today leading and trailing on trains mostly coal trains but there not as common as say a gevo or the ac44 rebuilds
@@DarrenHudson-g2x thanks Darren! EMD teaming up with GE, there's gonna be a fight between those two 😂 awesome story though! 🤠
@TrainBandit thanks thought of the two working together and just said hold up let me write something where the two work together
Awesome video man by the way both locos would look identical to there smaller counterparts with the dd60axs being longer to include the d-d x d-d wheel arrangement with the u70 looking the same to the u50 and u50c
@@DarrenHudson-g2x thanks, glad you enjoyed! I kinda figured they'd be similar 🤠
@TrainBandit Indeed the u70 and the u50 would be the same and the dd60ax would use the dda40x shell with a lengthened frame to accommodate the d-d x d-d wheel configuration
The only steam lpcomotive i can think of that was specifically built with a six truck was the allegheny
@@DarrenHudson-g2x of the top of my head it is the only one but I might be wrong 😂 I just finished the video, I had a busy day today but it should be uploading tonight! 🤠
Cool I'll be watching out for it
I believe this to be a tall tail. I don’t think a boiler of practical size could provide enough steam for that large a locomotive. I can’t remember which railroad had built a 2-6-6-6-2 ? but this failed because the one set of drivers was under the tender and lost adhesion as the tender emptied. The locomotive you pictured is that of a Santa Fe 2-10-10-2 with an articulated boiler. This failed miserably, so badly so that the railroad separated the halves and produced two locomotives from one, so the story goes. Back in the early days of the Central Pacific, they produced a 4-12-0 as I remember, the boiler couldn’t produce enough steam for the cylinders, and the tender could only carry enough water and fuel for about 15 miles or so.
@@johnbeck3270 I agree 💯! I don't use pictures of the real train though because if I do it's a dead give away so instead I use pictures of a locomotive that similar, in this case a 2-10-10-2. There is also a Tall Tale Or Not instruction video in the playlist and it's also linked in a lot of videos descriptions. Thanks for watching and commenting! 🤠

@TrainBandit okay
They look kinda like the steamer tender engine locomotives within the North American Union Pacific Railroad movies. 1. Big Boy 2. Last Of The Giants 3. Eighty-Four-Forty-Four 4. Last Of The Giants Volume 2: The Cheyenne Shops 5. Last Of The Giants Volume 3: Sherman Hill 6. Big Boys On TV 7. The Union Pacific Big Boy Collection
@@mbart5113 yep, a lot of these Locomotives would have been in those movies, and the ones that weren't were likely of the same class as the ones that were! 🤠
@@TrainBandit Eighty-Four-Forty-Four had be to seen through Shining Time Station.
@mbart5113 yes it was! 🤠
@ I want your opinion on The Union Pacific Big Boy Collection.
@@mbart5113 I think it was pretty cool!
Tall tale because the six axle truck does not make sense
@@DarrenHudson-g2x I agree, still a great story though! 🤠
@TrainBandit indeed can't wait for more stories like this next year
@DarrenHudson-g2x me neither! 🤠
How about the chesapeake and ohio 2-6-6-6 allegheny ?
@@NicholasSpisak that locomotive was designed to have a 6 wheel trailing truck 🤠
@TrainBandit yes correct but I believe if the designer can design a locomotive that can handle a six axle truck.it is possible anything is, and I would design a 6-6-6-6 Appalachia type to name it. With a large boiler to handle the Firebox grade area.
@@NicholasSpisak yes but that locomotive would be designed that way🤠

Sorry, But the stories ive heard , were the biggest engines made , had driver wheels , with Eight wheel sets, and Ten sets , couldnt mke it around the curved tracks, in use., without what they called, "BLIND DRIVERS" ! (That's because they had no inside rims, on some wheels !)
@@dennispersson9466 yes your absolutely right! Most of the time a locomotive with 8 drive wheels has only 4 flanged wheels(if it is going to have blind drivers, because some don't have any) and most locomotives with 10 drive wheel only has 8 flanged wheel. 10 drivers typically only have the center 2 drivers blind however in this locomotives case it would probably be wise to have 6 drive wheels blind! 😂 If I had to guess this locomotive had a lot of blind drivers! 😂
I love that old tyme steamer!!
@@naxshack me too! Event though it's not painted like the prototype, it is based of the Colorado and Southern mogul. You can tell by the air tanks on top of the boiler, also a lot of C&S locomotive have large snow plows however this one does not have one! 😄
Very cool!!

@@naxshack thanks! I like it too, however I'm having trouble with it 😂 it seems to have a reproduction replacement belt and the seem keeps getting stuck in the serpentine roller guides 😂
Nice short! Is that an On30 train on the inside track?
@@johnlazar7582 yep, I had the locomotive for quite some time but just got the coaches so I set them up for Christmas! The coaches also came with the ho track so it worked out well and the bachmann ez track looks similar to FasTrack so it's a good fit! 🤠
@TrainBandit Looks very nice! Still O scale so it matches perfectly!
@johnlazar7582 indeed it does! Thanks!
Hey train bandit got another good story this takes place in late 1979 so the union pacific was looking for a new desiel locomotive to replace thier gtels with ge making the u50 emd making the dd35a and b and dda40x and alco making the c855 but all three had plans to go bigger with these bulids and when i mean bigger i mean way bigger ill start with ge and thier loco they rolled out was called the u70 with 7200 horsepower and riding on a b+b×b+b wheel arrangement while emd built the dd60ax with 7500 hp riding on a d-d+d-d wheel arrangement and alco decided not to do it since sales were dropping and they close thier shop in the early seventys. Ultimately, union pacific decided to go with both units seeing they like both and placed orders for 80 u70s with 30 being a units and the other 50 being b units and the ordered 115 dd60axs 63 being a units and 52 b units and they served on coal trains, unit tank trains, mainfest, etc, etc. They would serve for twenty years with sadly no surivors.they served from october,28,1981 to march, 5, 2003
@@DarrenHudson-g2x thanks Darren! 🤠 Great story, this will be a interesting one! 🤠

Awesome history vid Bandit!! I’ve been thinking about adding some of those to my layout one day. Congrats on the subs!! 🚂😎
@@naxshack thanks! Ya tell tales would look great on any layout! The best part is that they should be fairly easy to make being you could make them out of just wood, strings, glue ,and paint! They also fit on any layout since almost every railroad used them and they were used until the 70s and in some places you probably could still find the into the 80s! 🤠
It was a non powered tender like the big boy in classic trains magazine with the big boy had 4025-4029 but with ww2 ending soon than expected they were never built but had drawings of them that were lost.
