How much?
When I worked at Lucas Aerospace in Burnley UK in the late 60s we had these machines. Because the feeds were independant to the spindle motor, an operator destoyed an engine turbine houseing because he forgot to stop the feed when he stopped the spindle. Yellow triangles were painted on the black hand wheels after that so you could see them turning.
i worked a year with such a huron, never had issues. first stop the feed, then the spindle. but i think mine was an MU6 .30 y ago...

I worked on one at Dowty Boulton Paul in Wolverhampton. The machine tools were older than we were. Good experience working with young Reggie at 56 years of age at the time. I was the youngest machinist by 36 years.

we have a similar mill in our shop but no calculation for the compound angle of the swivel head. do you have the calculation for that?

+Bob Smith. No not yet still just going off a home made chart or angles we know have worked from trial and error :s
+nis3r Hi guys if you are still looking for the charts for the Universal Head Angles try store.lathe.co.uk for the books. I bought a Huron NU4 before Xmas and found the books for it on that web site. Well worth the money. You might also find the angle chart listed on the web under Huron Universal Head angle charts.
