    • @Electrology001
      @Electrology001 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Both are similar but not the same. Earthing refers to connecting the non-current carrying parts, like the metal body of an electrical device, to the earth. Grounding, on the other hand, means connecting the current-carrying part, such as the neutral of an electrical system, to the ground.

    I think the explanation makes no sense. If we make 66 kV line to get 60 kV at the receiver, then transformer at the receiver is going to be of some oddball ratio to get 11 kV from 60 kV. If it going to be of some oddball ratio, so why wouldn't we just have 60 kV at the source, 54 kV at the receiver and then a transformer from 54 kV to 10 kV for further distribution? Also, if we do multiples of 11, how do we ensure that 10% is indeed lost when loss depends in the load? Also, corona discharge loss does not decrease from higher voltage, but increase!

  • @fishbones2
    @fishbones2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I think this explanation is not entirely correct. The circuit breaker is not closed until the synchroscope stops moving and points to 12 o'clock. That is why it is labeled slow and fast. If it were spinning in the fast direction, as shown, then there is a RPM mismatch and the generator to be added is running too fast. When it stops moving and points to 12 o'clock then the phase angles are matched. In the old days they just used three lights. When all three lights stopped flashing and stayed-off then the two generators were synched and it was safe to close the main breaker.

    • @Electrology001
      @Electrology001 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It does not stop rotating when it reaches the 12 o'clock position. There will be a slight mismatch in the parameters. As the parameters get closer to matching, the pointer's rotation slows down when approaching the 12 o'clock position. We need to close the GCB at that moment; otherwise, we'll have to wait for the next opportunity.

    This video raises some doubts about the relevance of the content and some of the images used. There is often so much confusion, but the reality is quite simple: Surge Arresters and Lightning Arresters are exactly the same thing. These devices, made of Metal Oxide Varistors, are used to limit overvoltages in power systems. They do not absorb lightning surges but rather divert them to the ground, preventing flashovers on the equipment that needs protection. The term "Lightning Arresters" is often misused, particularly in India and the US, where it is incorrectly applied to what should be referred to as "Surge Arresters."
