    Howdy Richard! Thank you for your excellent customer service! Once this is in bridge mode, do you lose access to the web GUI? I'd like to still have access, but restrict access outside my management VLAN if possible. Any ideas? Assuming this maintains an IP address for GUI access while in bridge mode, I might just need to setup a new "WAN VLAN" to connect my firewall to the Amplimax through a couple untagged ports.... adding a firewall rule to only allow access from my MGMT VLAN might just do the trick. What's the wire speed of the Amplimax's port?

      Thanks! :) Yep, you should still have access via the base IP, when in IP Passthrough / bridge mode. The Ethernet port is a 2.5G port. The advanced routing stuff is above my knowledgebase, I specialize in getting an online data connection via wireless/cellular; the rest I google to be honest. lol ;)

    I have camped at Mulberry Mtn Lodging and Events with this unit. Worked great. Remember the antenna is directional/omni directional and when the antenna is outside, you always get better reception. This unit also has a find the tower button. Once booted up, you can turn the antenna and the faster you hear the beeping, the better the signal. It has a display showing the provider and the percentage of reception. It also has a blind search to show which provider towers are available, the percentage, 4G and 5G strengths. I love mine. Richard is really an all around good guy to boot. He will not steer you wrong.

    Richard, I have t-mobile home internet in Ozark mountains (hills) in Arkansas. Although I am not all that far from nearest 5g tower, hilly terrain results in low signal strength. As a result, I am using a MIMO 4x4 Panel External Antenna hooked up to InvisaGig - 5G Wireless High Speed Modem. Can you tell me if I were to replace my current setup with this Elsys Amplimax Ultra 5G, could I expect better performance? Thanks!!

      I also am curious. I hv ur same setup

    • @wirelesshaven
      @wirelesshaven 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Not a simple answer, as at their base design they aren't the same kind of setup. That will really depend on the antenna and cables and length of cables more than anything. At it's core the modems are the same chipset between the two, but the InvisaGig has a handful of features for connectivity and use that the Amplimax is still developing. The Amplimax Antenna and poe modem pcb inside is an edge in minimizing signal loss, but the QuadLink antenna can do the same for the InvisaGig and is a larger panel antenna with all four antenna elements inside that are equal in size and spec. That comes at a higher cost though, so there are trade offs.

    I've noticed that T-mobile is starting to throttle me. If I switch between 5G only and 4G/5G I can get a super fast connection for about a minute and then it throttles me down to about half of that speed.

    • @wirelesshaven
      @wirelesshaven 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Check your bands, it may be switching bands or it may be disabling aggregates. Check to see if the exact same bands are both being used as primary as well as aggregates. Also, remember to NOT run the live signal status page when trying to get accurate speed test results, as it uses extra processor resources during the output of the live signal. Also, what if you are using a single speed test application, try another to ensure they are not blocking the traffic to that speed test. There's cloudflare speedtest, testmy.net, speedtest.net, and others; each with their own servers and protocols.

    Richard whos better InvisaGig or elsys 5g

    • @wirelesshaven
      @wirelesshaven 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Better is hard to define vaguely. Each location and users needs are not so simple to define. Both are great, and both use the same core chipset version. Elsys comes in an antenna and for that combo is a price that is hard to beat for a true branded manufactured product. It has RT069 support for MSPs/ISPs, though not generally useful to most end users, it is a cool feature. InvisaGig can be used desktop, or added to an antenna (QuadLink) so is more modular in use, and the software has more advanced connectivity features that Elsys has yet to incorporate into their software. Also a branded manufactured product. Again, I think both a great products. Which is best for the user is dependent on their location, needs, and the experience they get out of the product.

    Where my T-mobile box is, my phone gets over a Gbps but the T-mobile box only gets 500 or so and sometimes randomly kicks off 5G and goes to lte. Would This fix that? Do I need to get a different sim card or could I just put the sim card in there and go?

    • @wirelesshaven
      @wirelesshaven หลายเดือนก่อน

      Depends on the phone you are using. Is it a $1200 Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra with Qualcomm x75 modem inside, or iPhone14/15? Those are monster powerful devices with advanced expensive modems inside that are just now getting tested by others. The InvisaGig does have more capabilities than the Tmobile provided devices, but to compare to a phone (which uses higher priority SIMs) with a newer chipset than anything else on the market is a tough comparison to make. That said, I have personally tested over 1.3Gbps on a Tmobile SIM in the InvisaGig, and a youtuber JabberTech has a video showing him getting even faster speeds than that. th-cam.com/video/alKOpAsnFyw/w-d-xo.html

    Is there a way to find the best signal besides moving the antenna one click at at time?

    • @wirelesshaven
      @wirelesshaven หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's the most robust way, but generally my favorite way is to make huge movement swings left and right to find where the signal drop off is and then center between the left extreme and right extreme THEN iterate small adjustments to find the sweet spot for the tower and band I'm testing. The InvisaGig allows real live fine tuning unlike any other modem out there.

  • @xandrios
    @xandrios 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    So would it be fair to conclude that the modem software in your phone is more mature/advanced, to the point that it is able to automatically pick the best performing options - while with the internal modem (quectel or something similar?) doesn't have those features?

    • @wirelesshaven
      @wirelesshaven 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There's quite a bit more to it than that, but if we simply compared the amount of R&D put into the connection and throughput software between a Samsung or Apple flagship phone against any cellular modem on the market today, regardless of the vendor, there is more priority on phone plan SIMs, and billions of dollars in the flagship phone R&D. This compared to a mere fraction of that amount put into data only modem products available on the market today. The complexity and, maybe as or more importantly, cell carrier support is in fact much greater in most flagship phone software. This of course does not always mean it works better, though sometimes it can. Hence the need to optimize. BUT even those flagship phones do not allow you to manipulate the bands and connection type very easily without "jailbreaks" or similar advanced additions that are not officially supported by the manufacturer. Where as a cellular modem device, like the InvisaGig, can excel with these simple to use tools in situations where even a $1500 cell phone cannot.

Inside the house, the signal is weak, but the speeds are good (40 to 180 Mbps download and 2 to 10 Mbps upload). I want to strengthen the signal using an outdoor antenna. However, there are many trees around, and I don’t have a clear line of sight to either tower. Do you have any recommendations?

    • @wirelesshaven
      @wirelesshaven 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PNXWorld Generally speaking, the flat panel directional antenna design is universally good at the type scenario you are in. It is not a one size fits all, but it does fairly well in areas where trees are the barrier between you and the cell tower. I prefer a PoE outdoor enclosure solution to eliminate the antenna cabling losses myself, paired with a flat panel directional antenna. BUT if you would rather not, then the best quality cables you can afford (LMR400 usually) and as short as possible is the best way to go.

      Could be a few issues there. 1: PoE injector is damaged and simply itself isn't passing data. 2: The Router WAN port is damaged, and isn't allow data passage. 3: The configuration seems right but possibly has one small thing off. 4: The firmware has a memory fault in jsut a way that is causing odd issues like this and needs a brute firmware reflash via recovery mode. • @wirelesshaven
      @wirelesshaven 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The case is fully IP67 sealed. There is a lot of internal air space and the InvisaGig has a fan built in to push air across the modem heatsink and out into the enclosure airspace. That then is dissipated via the finned back of the case. I've run these the enclosures in Houston, TX summers. Keeping an eye on the heat levels is always important, and when heat gets to record levels, or if you are in areas like Arizona, you would like be best to shade the antenna from direct sunlight. It is also possible to add a 12VDC barrel plug adapter inline and sort of piggyback the 12VDC to another fan. You can also add vents like these: store.thewirelesshaven.com/products/wifix-outdoor-enclosure-vent if you wanted.

    • @wirelesshaven
      @wirelesshaven 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use Tmobile here, but ATT works just as fast, and in some places faster. It 100% depends on the tower you are connected to, and they are all different in experience for so many people. In short, you have to test them and find the best for you. In general it seems T-mobile is pushing the boundries for high level, non-mmWave, 5G speeds in more locations. Their business unlimited is the most no fuss plan. The Home Internet plan is simple and most can get it. There are others that work too of course. When it comes to truly mobile applications, it really depends on where you are travelling and what coverages they have there. Having more than one carrier really is the universal tool.

    Please clarify when to insert the home internet sim card for the first time. Toward the start of the video and after entering the password for the first time, I thought the video implies may insert the real sim card at that point? I think that's if we let the invisagig automatically configure the real sim card; I thought of the same thing if we chose the internet provider from the invisagig's list. But toward the end of the video after configuring it through "Generic w/ manual APN" and it showed "status: cannot reach the internet", it was mentioned "swap the sim card and insert the real one" - does the word swap means remove a fake sim card from the invisagig and then insert the real sim card? When is the real sim card supposed to be inserted into the invisagig modem? What specific procedures to follow with different circumstances as if trying to go with 1) Allow modem to auto select carrier profile, OR 2) Manually select carrier profile which presents different circumstances by either going with 1) Generic w/ manual APN or pick tfrom 2) through 17) the carrier name on the listed names of providers. Do we suppose to remove the real sim card every time before we start trying each one of these circumstances and when do we insert said sim card into the invisagig again?

      Nothing that complicated. This is a general how-to, using a few examples to represent all possible SIMs. It doesn't matter when the SIM is inserted as far as settings are conecerned, as long as you reboot the modem after you set the appropriate settings AND the SIM is inserted. Reboot last. My personal method: Power up, no sim, set settings for that sim and plan, insert sim, reboot. It really isn't that particular. As long as you reboot the modem AFTER you both have entered all your settings AND the sim is inserted.

    Thanks for video. So far InvisaGig give me slower speed than Verizon 5 G cube , need to play with band I think. But immediately I switch sim card from Verizon cube to InvisaGig, get the email from Verizon that sim card is in new device. Is that normal and I don't need to worry about that ?? THX

      You'll want to type the word REPAIR in the main menu and follow the prompts, using the information from your Verizon device. Verizon is very very picky on this. email us for more details.

    In a VPN app or browser extension you're able to exclude certain sites from using the VPN due to detection by some video streaming services. Can you exclude a list of sites when running he VPN in a router? Also, is it possible to use a simple proxy instead of a full blown VPN in the router? I don't need to encrypt my data, just show a different IP via a proxy.

    • @wirelesshaven
      @wirelesshaven 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Bill! Honestly I've never tried. I believe you can do split tunneling by device client on the local network, but not sure about site domains. I'll have to check. Usually for VPNs I prefer running them on the device that needs it, versus on the router. BUT some like to do all traffic, so this applies here. Torguard has apps that work pretty well so far in my use cases.

    Not convinced or excited. Besides the case of VVS you have with the filming (google it). You are testing too many variables, indoor with stock antennas then straight to outdoor chinese looking antenna and questionable coax. Put the modem on the tri-pod and test. Even better, get a laptop that doesn't use a USB (software) NIC and drop the "Router".

    • @wirelesshaven
      @wirelesshaven 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The test is a practical upgrade comparison. Comparing no outdoor antenna and the modem indoors, as almost everyone will have it when they first purchase a modem, to adding the outdoor antenna to their indoor modem. Something a LOT of people do. Comparing them with the modem outdoors on the tripod is not a real world use case, and does very little for the real user; the people who would buy something like this and use it. To try to make it even close to equal-ish, we would have to either eliminate the cables on the antenna (not a real world use case example) or put the paddle antennas on 20 feet of LMR cabling (again, not real world practical use case). Testing NOT through a router does nothing for the signal or speeds in any relevance, and again is not a real world use case for almost every user. We're not doing a scientific study here, we're providing value for anyone who would potentially upgrade antennas. Whether they purchase from us or someone else, the example is the same. That said, I am planning on doing it anyway: with the modem right next to the antenna and no extra cables between, versus just the omni antennas on similar length pigtail cables. Simply to show those who have asked about it. Keep an eye out for it. :)

  • @Nctbgs

    Would love to have seen a test with the Invisagig sitting out there where the antenna was . Just testing with the stock antennas .

    • @wirelesshaven
      @wirelesshaven 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's in the works. :) BUT... Remember, unless you planned on installing your InvisaGig with it's stock antennas (or other modem containing device) outside (like in a large plastic enclosure) in the EXACT same spot as the intended antenna location, it's not really a completely equal comparison by real world use case. Upgrading the antenna to outdoors and connecting it back to the indoor modem unit, versus having the modem with its' stock antennas completely indoors is the common upgrade path; making it more of a realistic comparison to real world installation use cases. You COULD put your InvisaGig on a pole, but it may not last long ;) .... unless of course you use an enclosure like this: thewirelesshaven.com/shop/enclosures/outdoor-enclosures/wifix-large-router-pcb-enclosure-kit/

    • @wirelesshaven

      I think you emailed? I sent a reply. For everyone else. It's automatic. The InvisaGig will assign the carrier assigned IP address to the Ethernet port of the device it is connected to, automatically. Menu option 10 allows you to turn this off, or assign the MAC address manually (like if you need to use the InvisaGig through a switch first that then goes to your router, more advanced of a setup.)

      I have given this plenty of time to test and travel with. YES it does better than paddles alone. I have Verizon as a backup. I use Verizon when I don't get a strong enough signal from T-Mobile. I'm actually considering canceling Verizon's service. Before this antenna, I had to use Verizon as my backup more often. Yes, this thing definitely works. It has boosted T-Mobile's signal. I have it loosely mounted inside my truck on top bunk. I was skeptical at first. I'm a believer now.
