Make sure you update TH-cam's setting to HD! Almost every video on my page is in High Definition (1080). The option is the small geared wheel on the lower right hand side of the picture!
As a Firefighter/EMT, my career stemmed from my passion of fire department photography. I have always enjoyed photographing railroads and fire apparatus/scenes, and I started this page to share my passion with everyone!
Hopefully, one day your support will help me offset costs of traveling to capture history of railroads and fire departments.

14:37 do they usually do all these moves around the same time?
@@SteelandSteamProductions they do when they are running 3 trains at once. Essentially they only have 2 passing tracks on the entire line.
@@photo39fireandrailphotography Ah okay ill be there on saturday. Is there a certain time of day they do that move specifically?
@@SteelandSteamProductions This was at the beginning of the day, so as each train begins, the locos are brought out of the shops to then join their cars near the station.
Were there any more dinner trains after this?
@@NorthEasternMotionProductions yes there has been a few more trips. I would imagine the GP9s days are limited.
@ probably. Frankly it’s amazing that there are so many alcos kicking around when I’m sure those are harder to maintain than the GP7’s and 9’s
@NorthEasternMotionProductions it's the love of the Alco owners that have kept them around for so long. Plus GE makes some of the parts still.

RIP BILL. God Speed to you my brother 🇺🇸
RIP Bill. You showed the world the bravery of Detroit Firefighters for many decades. 🫡
I know it’s Detroit and all and they see alot of fire but …. Do they realize if they put water on the fire , they won’t have to worry about the exposure of tree’s catching on fire . Might help as that aerial isn’t getting set up any time soon. Bizarre scene
You’re not very bright. Why would they put that fire out? The house needs to be gone. They’ll just have to come back and put it out again in a few days and or someone with wonder in there to do drugs, prostitution or kids exploring and the damn floors cave in. They always let them burn down in Detroit when the fire is not threatening an occupied dwelling.
Do you realize that these are abandoned houses and if extinguished they will be set on fire yet again... Clearly you do not.
@@virgilhilts3924sounds like a great place to live
Do they ever find human remains in those 'Let It Burn' fires?
They do but it is only black fragments mostly. It depends of how long time the body burns. Human bodies contains much water.

Bill Rest In pease.
I wonder if it comes with squirrels to eat the pumpkins like on our block.
This is the original Detroit Fire Department Fire Buff. It hurts my heart.
I'll be 78 this December 2024 and I can remember seeing steam engines. My grandparents, born in the 1800's, lived about a block and a half North of the Burlington RR line (now BNSF) on Ridgeland Ave in Berwyn Illinois. And that's where the elevated Illinois Central R.R. crossed over the BN tracks. We would stand right there at the crossing and when the steam engines would pass under that I.C. trestle the engine's smoke would hit the bridge's underside and fan out like a huge mushroom cloud and those Beasts would come chugging passed. Memorable image. Then the end of the train would have a caboose with the "Brakemen", and we would yell for them to throw the chalk that they used to put notations on boxcars. They usually would. No more cabooses these days though. Progress.
Wow! The smallest standard gauge 4-6-2 ever built, if I'm not mistaken; I'm happy to see that it's been preserved. Also, what's better than seeing a caboose at the end of a steam train?? THREE cabooses!!
Hey, what time is it best to catch this railroad in Blissfield, thanks
@@PaulK-ce8mf best I can comment is they usually go on duty in adrian at 8am. Sometimes they run to blissfield, and sometimes not.

I, just finished watching your video about The Detroit Box Alarm, on Mayfield and Laurel Streets on Detroit's Eastside. From, 1975 until 1985, I have lived on Rochelle and Gratiot. The, house that I lived in was the old Krager's Restaurant, which became a Church, and is Now Vacant, and I also remember Crazy Art's Motor Cycle Club was also on the Corner of Gratiot and Rochelle. I also remember the Nickname for the Neighborhood was Little Italy. I have been through the area many times, and it's a shame that, there are no homes on the first block of Rochelle and Mayfield between Gratiot and Laurel. And, I also remember the Fire Station on Houston-Whittier and Gratiot. 7:50

The proper placement of the second in apparatus is determined by where the photographer is standing.
@@PaulLaDuke-s7o Hahahaha. Well hopefully engine 42 wouldn't have been placed on the sidewalk!
Good job firefighters master stream on the first move 😊
Yet it had no meaningful effect on the fire.
Water cannons are awesome
And yet it had essentially no meaningful effect on the fire. Largely due to the fact that spraying water on the flames does relativly nothing when the seat of the fire is on the interior of the structure.
@@virgilhilts3924 yes sometimes the water cannot withstand the heat and evaporates before reaching the bulk of the fire.
@@photo39fireandrailphotography I started my Firefighting career back in 1980 and am twice retired. I couldn't even guess the number of jobs I've worked where the DG is relatively useless in offensive operations, defensive is fine once supply is established. But yes you are correct, if they had a smooth bore nozzle with a stream shaper they could have penetrated deeper into the interior and would have likely had much better results on tank water. I participated in a study back in the 90's where we measured the amount of water loss when using combo-nozzles and plain smooth-bore tips. Combos were the worst with often 2/3 of the water not reaching the interior, smooth bores were much better but still resulted in as much as 50% loss. A quality tip with a proper stream shaper running at rated pressures were incredibly efficent and could result in ~90% of the stream making it inside.
@virgilhilts3924 we have a 3000 gallon tanker with a deck gun. That's my preference for first due and 3 guys on duty!
Really liked the video, but I just have to shake my head at the placement of the two bales of hay under the smokebox. I have felt the heat first-hand coming from a smokebox when the loco was in motion and it is certainly not some place I would purposely place something as combustible as dry hay.
@@Toms_Steam_Channel hey Tom I thought the same thing about the hay. It made it just fine the entire trip that day.
