What is BAPS?
The Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Sanstha (BAPS), is a global religious and civic organization. The spiritual leadership of BAPS has been carried forward by Gunatitanand Swami, followed by Bhagatji Maharaj, Shastriji Maharaj, Yogiji Maharaj, Pramukh Swami Maharaj, and the current Guru and president, Mahant Swami Maharaj.

Akshar Deri
The Akshar Deri, located in the Rang Mandap of the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple in Gondal, India, is a significant pilgrimage site in Swaminarayan Hinduism. It marks the cremation site and serves as a memorial to Gunatitanand Swami.
Pramukh Swami Maharaj
Born as Shantilal Patel on December 7, 1921, Pramukh Swami Maharaj was ordained as Shastri Narayanswarupdas. Recognized as the fifth spiritual successor of Bhagwan Swaminarayan, he became the President of BAPS in 1950. In 1971, he succeeded Yogiji Maharaj as the spiritual leader of BAPS, serving until his passing on August 13, 2016.
Mahant Swami Maharaj
Born as Vinubhai Patel on September 13, 1933, Mahant Swami Maharaj is the sixth spiritual successor of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. Initiated as a swami in 1961 by Yogiji Maharaj, he was designated as the spiritual and administrative successor to Pramukh Swami Maharaj in 2012, assuming the role in 2016 after Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s passing.
