An American Golden Plover turned up thousands of kilometers from home in April 2024. This was only the fifth location the species had been seen in Australia according to eBird.

They look very similar to our Scarlet Robins. I would be hard pressed to tell them apart. Great close ups👍

Turns out this is a Little Raven.
Karen the wind played havoc with my sound recording so I just used some music. I should have brough a microphone with a dead cat wind protector to get some ambient sound.
That was wonderful! Still windy but nice to get some sun to pretty everything up. You got some great footage of the Plover!

Me too. Looking forward to a full review. I await the lens and use an R5 body. Also have an R7 but I'm thinking the R7 is overkill for this lens except on a crystal clear day, which is never, here.

I suspect this is a native mouse and not a house mouse.
It is actually an introduced House Mouse, Mus musculus, which are reasonably common in this grassland.
What body did you use for these shots? How is the tracking.
Hi, I used an R5 body and found the tracking really good. Lens/camera combo locked on to eyes really well. Similar to my RF 100-500mm f7.1L IS USM. Easy to carry around too.

Thanks Rebecca. I stumbled across it in the Allocasuarina grove after a few friends had seen it nearby. Once I got close it hung around for ages. I ended up leaving it not the other way around!

It's great to see the bats sunning themselves and enjoying life. They're are our very living and much-needed link with ancient Australia...pollinators par excellence...their colonies are noisy at present due to it being mating season...lots of shouting and hanky panky. I point out to young people that to see the bats is to see Australia as the megafauna saw it. A trip back in a time machine! Great stuff. Thanks for footage. :)
