Sri Huligemma Devi temple’s history dates to eight hundred years. It is believed that Huligemma Devi is an incarnation of Goddess Renuka Yellamma Devi. As per legends, two devotees of Renuka Yellamma Devi named Nagajogi and Basavajogi residing in Huligi used to visit Goddess Renuka Yellamma Devi during every full moon day. Due to heavy rains during one of the full moon days these devotees were unable to reach Yellamangudda and had to spend the entire night drenched in rain in remembrance of Yellamma Devi. Mother
