He who flings sticks
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 19 ส.ค. 2024
Hi, my name's Degsy Jones.
The aim of my channel is to upload content about the bows I buy, shooting them and other related stuff. I picked up archery again in June 2024 after a 10 year layoff and decided to learn thumb draw and shoot my Asiatic bows properly. I've been studying Okinawan Go Ju Ryu karate for over 30 years, archery and karate give me the same feeling and enjoyment. Occasionally I'll upload some karate stuff, but mostly it's about my love of Asiatic and field archery - flinging sticks!

Yeah!!! 👊😄
👍
Beautiful landscape! Now I'm thinking more of making quiver for such outings 🙂 BTW, background music seems to be louder than it should be, I used to make same mistake so I pick on it 😀
Nice course and great shooting.
Really nice shooting. Looks like a fun course. I'm currently using a Korean Bo, but I'm really debating on that AF (I want the Kazan but the price difference).
@@matthewvassar9686 have you seen my comparison video of the AF Ming dynasty bow and the Daylite Kazan ?
Hunter with afghan Hat
yes and I love it
Perhaps less emphasis on looking good and more on practicing..
@Jfranke1111 Thanks for noticing I look good, and I'll try and get more practice in, just for you, darling 🤣🤣🤣
@@Hewhoflingssticks-h7hlol. You dressed up for the part just didn’t deliver…
@@LaoWaiJac it had nothing to do with the dress darling.
Great hat
I like those arrows
cheers made them myself
@ are they wrapped or did you use cresting? They are slick
@crustymarine86 they are carbon shafts. They came spray painted with red on one end, you have to give it a light rub with a bit of wet dry to take the lacquer off to get the glue on the fletchings to bond to the shaft
Oh Fox Lake what a bunt maybe you flag down a Lori and drive it there😂
@@corriefoulkes2046 I do not have a clue what this means !
Are those accunos arrows?
@12345B they are accmos.
@Hewhoflingssticks-h7h i saw those how do you like them!
@12345B I like them they're good for the money, I use them for all my carbon arrows. They do make a woven carbon shaft too but not used them so far.
@Hewhoflingssticks-h7h ah i see nice! I got their .009+/- arrows in 1000 spine for my 22lb recurve and saw those ones, i believe their 003 +/- and a dozen are 45ish with tax, i like the color. I also saw the carbon wrapped version also! I am curious, do you think theres a noticable difference for traditional/barebow archery. I can understand olympic/compound with sights, but without sights I wonder if the tolerances will be negligible. I paid 27$ for a dozen of the 009s glue in and 30$ for screw in tips.
Trad bows forever
That’s way to high
@@Silentbet1of way to high for what ?
Your arrows are on the wrong side of the bow and you are aiming with the other side eye…🫣
@@JamesHoffman-w1z you need to educate yourself ! I shoot Asiatic bows with thumbdraw, meaning I use a thumbring and we shoot from the right side of the bow with this style and I actually have both eyes open when I shoot. I can't actually see the arrow I'm only focused on the target. Asiatic archery is one of oldest styles or archery in existence, olympic recurve is a modern discipline and even modern long bow Mediterranean draw was invented in England in the 19th century. Most archers like yourself no very little about archery history
@@JamesHoffman-w1z it is called the right side of the bow for a reason :)
So cool! I've been wanting the Kazan for a bit now. My first laminated was the Monarq and I love it! My thoughts were to stick with the company i know, but this is too similar and half the price! If I had to guess, the extra weight is due to the carbon core and maybe heavier handle. Thank you for sharing! Keep flingin' arrows, my friend!
@@matthewvassar9686 hi, there is no carbon core in the kazan !
The talented Archer knows how often that still happens
Very nice arrows if I'm right you made them yourself?
I did make them , yes
Lovely Hat 🎩 🫡👌
cheers it is my winter shooting hat, wool is too hot for the summer so it gets put away
@ in summer that hat actually reflects the sun ☀️ & keeps you cool because it’s wool. It’s not only a winter hat. Northern Pakistan Northern Afghanistan Kashmir & Himalayan Range That hat originally originated from them sides Silk route.
i had it sent to me from Pakistan, I love it, and it keeps the rain off too. I'll try it in the warmer weather then, see how I get on 👍@mariumrajah
Nice! I have an Ottoman-style ring from Zack, and it is (i) tiny, (ii) precise, and (iii) deadly. I love it - it's the one I shoot 80% of the time. For heavy bows and holding draw for longer I have a buffalo horn ring from Bekir Buyuksindir in Türkiye, which is another completely awesome thumb ring - bulkier than Zack's _božur_ ring, but perfect for what it's made for (including flight archery).
The arrow is on the wrong side of the bow.It belongs on the left side.Learn the right way.
🤣🤣🤣 fool you know nothing !
He looks to be shooting thumb draw, so he is correct for the style. Think carefully before hitting the keys you just look foolish.
Two beautiful bows! Thanks for the review!
I can’t hit a damn thing with those ungodly contraptions. Well done!
@Rick-ve5lx perseverance my friend 🧡
Where is the horse?
👍👍👍
He doesn't have the arrow on wrong side of the arrow rest this is bs
❤❤
Nice one 🏹✨️😊
Great !!! Compliments !!!!
Beautiful release
thank you 😊
A kill is chest, heart and lungs. That's only a wound.
it's in the line of the marked target, counts as a kill
@Hewhoflingssticks-h7h OK, our targets are marked differently then. Admittedly he is not getting up from an arrow in the throat.
Could you please advise. I am having a issue with my Daylite Tartar Bow's limb vibration. What would be the best method to reduce the horrific limb vibration I am experiencing on my Tartar Bow? The limb vibration is so bad my left shoulder and upper arm is in agony after shooting for only 30 minutes or so. I love the bow but the vibration is becoming unbearable. I have also written the company but since you have much greater experience with this than probably their sales staff, please tell me what I might could do to reduce the limb vibration. Thanks. John
Hi, firstly I'm no expert, but what I do understand is that there are many factors that can cause vibration. Can you answer some questions and I'll offer what advice I can; How old is the bow? what is the draw weight? what is your draw length? what condition is the string in? have you replaced the string? what spine are your arrows? what GPI are your arrows? how long are your arrows? is there any signs of delamination of the bow ?
@@Hewhoflingssticks-h7h Brand New Tartar Bow; 40#, 27"; String came with bow; No replace; 500 spine 6.9 GPI; Total arrow weight 340 gr.; 28 & 30" [360 gr.]; No delamination or cracking. Kazan Tartar Bow is only a couple of weeks old.
@@John-jk4ev the only thing I could think is the arrows are a little on the light side at 6.9 GPI. Spine I would say is ok at 500 for the draw weight of the bow. I try and keep my arrows no lighter than 8.5 GPI. I like a slighting heaver arrow, keeps the FOC up, I find them better for field archery. Other than that I can't see what would cause such bad vibration that is causes you pain, I shoot mine for and hour or more continuously and have never experienced such vibration. Have Daylite responded to you yet ?
You got the arrow on the wrong side 😮
Thumb ring release! Do better and educate yourself before commenting! 🤷🏻♂️
Почему все стали стрелять по тюркски, а не по европейски
I tried a thumb ring and it just didnt work for me.
@ChuckYoder-kr3yr that can be because the ring was the wrong size. It's much harder to learn than Mediterranean draw, you need to practice longer. Did you have any tuition?
currently looking around for my first bow and also thumbring since i'm starting from nothing, thanks for that video it helps a lot :D
watch my latest comparison review of the AF Ming Dynasty bow, it is a great bow and for a very reasonable price
Both look nice and fast. That garden looks like it was designed for shooting with the embankment.
@JakeBullit123 they are both good fast bows, I'm lucky the garden is perfect. You can only see part of it. If I shoot it full length, it's about 35 meters
Wow, they really look a lot alike. Maybe they come from the same lamination mold. Thanks for sharing. 🏹👊🙂 Happy new year 2025. 😃🍻
You're making me blush 😊 Thank you for review . Merry Christmas
Very nice bow interested to see how it shoots with the Flemish twist string

Such a beautiful bow! I Thanks for the review! Cool shooting!
@Slingshotsbowsandknifes-tm4ev Thank you for your kind words
Excellent bow. And man, excellent shooting. I have the Alibow long version in 58" and it is one of my favorites. And the bow is already more than 8 years old.. Enjoy it a lot your gorgeous tatar bow. Cheers 🍺🍺👊🙂
@@miguelveratraditionalarche9374 it is a solid bow. thank you for your kind words 🙏
That beautiful Tatar bow Rocks. Have fun 👊🙂
it does indeed
It's a fine bow. Customized w/ flemish twist string, Bow Hush with Rebeccas hand spun wool, (synthetics don't work) and now she's a fine shooter with 4 to 500 grain gt arrows. Silent and accurate. Mine is a 35# as well. This bow keeps the fun in archery!! (and then you practice more...) Rc
Thank you for sharing BTW nice shooting. 😊
@miguelveratraditionalarche9374 Thank you, my friend
Nailed it!
