I hate that Miller got a carrier. I agree he should be honoured but Carriers should be reserved for Presidents. After Nimitz Vinson and Stennis are scrapped everything would have been right in the world. Then up pops CVN-81. The world hates me. Of course it's mandatory to have an Enterprise in the fleet.

Enjoyed the list but...Why would you not have the USS Texas and USS Maine to begin your list? They are listed in the US National Archives as the first two USN Battleships. Yes, the USS Texas (unnumbered) didn't have a BB#, but by all historical accounts she was a pre-dreadnought battleship built by the USN and was the first American battleship to be commissioned (3-months earlier) on 15 August 1895. Then there was the USS Maine (ARC1), who also didn't have a BB#. She was commissioned (2-months earlier) on 17 September 1895 The USS Indiana (BB-1) was commissioned on 20 November 1895.

👏👏👏!!! Very detailed, perfect documentary👍!!! So glad you did it cryologically, as I am somewhat anal (which is good, such as perfection. But not 'retentive', which is asshole like). I got jealous when, we got to USS IOWA BB6. I didn't know they renamed battleships, more than once. I thought, the state's name, was retired. The reason I was jealous was, 'cause I thought battleship New Jersey, was built only once, but I see other states had theirs (and ours), recommissioned. Montana was the only state NOT, to have one?? Thanks, for this 😁!!

A nice start, but damaged ships should be in a separate video since so many were missed and to include them it would be too long. And narration would greatly enhance the presentation. Some to include off the top of my head: 1942: Cruisers Marblehead and its' epic journey home, Boise, Louisville, San Francisco, Portland, New Orleans, Minneapolis, and Pensacola; Carriers Enterprise, and Saratoga (2X bomb and torpedo damage respectively). 1944: Cruisers Houston and Birmingham in its ordeal assisting the Aircraft Carrier Princeton 1945: Destroyer Laffey and other kamikaze victims 1950: Battleship Missouri Grounding 1967: Aircraft Carrier Forrestal Fire 1968: Pueblo Incident Late Seventies: Belknap/Kennedy collision 1985: Aircraft Carrier Coral Sea collision 1988: Aircraft Carrier Eisenhower pier collision at homeport Norfolk, VA pier 1987: Frigate Stark by Iraq missile attack and the warships that hit Iranian mines in the Persian Gulf 1988: Battleship Iowa turret explosion causing its' premature decom And I believe an attack submarine (San Francisco?) rammed an underwater mountain in the pacific and survived but badly damaged during your timeframe. I Understand the following are beyond the scope of this presentation 2000: Destroyer Cole More recent: 2017 and later - at least two collisions and the Bonhomme Richard fire

Cool history of the battleships the US has had and to see their evolution. Should add to the "Fate" section of that the USS West Virginia BB-48 was sunk at Pearl Harbor, refloated, refitted and fought again in WWII. Even being in Tokyo Bay for the signing of the surrender of the Japanese Empire.

Enjoyed the video. However USS Nevada, BB 36, was missed. At Pearl, she suffered hits from one torpedo and half a dozen bombs resulting in a loss of about 60 crewmen. She was returned to service in October, 1942, and later provided shore bombardment at Utah Beach on D-day. Later, she also provided shore bombardment at Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Also, USS Shaw, DD 373, heavily damaged at Pearl and after extensive repairs, she returned to the fight with distinguished service. Shaw survived the remainder of WW II with 11 battle stars.

My Grandfather was an machinist on the USS Buck DD420 sunk 10-9-43. They thought they had put all the pins back into the depth chargers before the ship sank. Turns out they missed one. A lot of the people were killed by their depth charge after the ship sank. My Grandfather was hit by metal from that explosion in the stomach. He was one of the lucky 97 that survived. He received a purple heart for that. He was a great man. I miss him & my father a lot. 🫤
