Listen To The City is my favorite all time album. I wonder why it never made it to compact disc or available as a download......

David Benoit's "Kei's Song" is one of my all-time favorites. This is a good re-imagined version. Having seen Benoit live, I would improve this mix in a couple of ways: 1) Piano. Solo is nice. EQing. Very bland and needs more reverb. 2) Drums. At times, sound gets lost in the mix. 3) Flute. Needs better EQing, especially top-end. Dull. 4) Guitar. Solo is very good. Unfortunately EQ is mediocre. 5) Bass. Excellent. An upright bass or fretless would add more spice to the mix IMHO. 6) Mix. Decent balance. Bland EQ overall. 7/10. When song moves up a key, mix should get appreciably louder.

Believe I saw Tim about 50 years ago in Atlanta at the Great Southeast Music Hall (emporium and fine arts exchange). I was so impressed that I went to a bamboo field then constructed a series of bamboo flutes. They sounded surprisingly good. This video is superb.

I was there. David Benoit sat behind me. Tim is my favorite composer, flutist and just a great guy. He's "the man". I've seen him play since 1970. Cynthia Taylor To this day my favorite date with Tim was listen to him play at the Troubadour. I sat right there in a cabin chair right next to the stage. Lynn Blessing played the key piano with the rest of the band. It was heaven, I couldn't believe what I heard. Everyone felt those lyrical notes. It was Tim, the best 🎶 🎵

I saw Tim weus erg at the Troubadour in Hollywood like 1974 or '75 and he was and remains an amazing flautist! Thank you for all the 🎵🎶 all these years!!

Naa. They changed the whimsical mood of the song into something less than what played my heart strings in the original. Not so much the main body of the song, but that elegant change in middle and ending.

As I listen to this in 2022, Tim Weisberg is approaching 80 years old--he was 70 when this was recorded. First, the tune, Viva Tirado. It achieved wide popularity in 1970 when it was covered by the group, El Chicano. The tune, however, was written in 1962 by big band leader Gerald Wilson, named in honor of a Mexican bullfighter. Now, Tim Weisberg. Weisberg was already active in the West Coast music scene in the late 1960's as a session musician, recording with some high-profile bands such as the Carpenters. In the 1970's, when I saw him twice in concert several years apart, he was fronting his own band, and Viva Tirado was already in his "book" of tunes. Years later, in the 1990's, he would record Viva Tirado again. Weisberg, over that span of years, had evolved from a jazz-influenced rock musician into a rock-influenced jazz musician. This, I believe, is his best recorded performance of Viva Tirado. His beginning solo is much more mellow and melodic than are his earlier recordings and performances, and much more jazz-based. The solos by the rest of the band are much more raucous and rock-oriented--somewhat disingenuously--but then settle back for Weisberg's short and soft solo ending. As from the beginning, Viva Tirado is basically a jazz tune, built on a simple riff, that acts a vehicle upon which soloists can improvise.

One of the smoothest and most nuanced flute players in jazz. I bought Hurtwood Edge on vinyl my senior year in High school. My friends were all stuck in top-40 land while I was floating in the clouds with music like this.

I would put on one Tim's albums back in the 70's late at night and look out the window at the stars. Such good memories.
