Thank you for this. Spent over 5 years with my spine like this. Finally got approved to see a neurosurgeon and straight away he’s recommended a MD… it’s in 5 days and I’m terrified. It feels so soon 🥲 they skipped the steroid shots as I’ve lived with this so long and already use mobility aids to get around. The time between going to the initial consultation and the surgery booked a month later feels so sudden and I can’t wrap my brain around it. Desperately trying to clean the mess of my home too as I’ve struggled all these years but knowing I need space to move freely and I have upcoming surgery I’m going turbo mode 😂

Wow I can relate to her. I’ve played volleyball since 7. Played travel ball, and played in college for 2 1/2 years. Never had problems, until 2020 I was playing adult league volleyball, did my approach to spike the ball and as soon as I extended I felt an excruciating pain and collapse to the floor. I couldnt move my whole body for about 10 seconds and then regained feeling, but I couldn’t move at all because of the pain. Fast forward to now, I learned I had a herniated disc that wasn’t getting better, so now I will be having surgery in a week.

No, back surgeons have told me time and time again, they ONLY do back surgery, and does not give or tell you anything else outside surgery. Honestly, I have heard that again and again from surgeons in Southern Oregon. Any other kind of cares or concerns to talk about are NOT their responsibility, and that is what they say, sadly, that IS the response many of us get.
