is it me or timing is off between video and audio?
It is :/
Definitely is
I wanna hear snare drum goodness, but the gate threshold is so high , damn techys
That is probably how Steve Jordan wanted it to sound.
why would Steve Jordan want half of his chops completely cut out of the mix ? that's like John gating his voice so you can only hear half the words...
Major Seven. Jordans chops are part of the music , and a damn tasty part as a drummer myself I want to hear them.
Maybe because your listening to youtube with 480p and bad audio ? ..
ficou bom demais
That guitar makes a great sound, John puts it to very good use!
That reverse headstock
who doesn't? soul is as contagious as a yawn
NO! not at all... but i just dont wanna be gay... :)
homophobic much?
Im gonna risk being called gay.... but im in love with John Mayer's music!
I make JM faces while listening to this one. Johns a fuckin boss.
Right you are.. John Mayer is fucking sick
Steve Jordan is THE man
yeah i hear the SRV big time but its all good, thats what influences are for! im pretty sure he has an "SRV" tattoo
or any other song where he holds a guitar, for that matter.
@6stringslinger I call him jimmi rae clapton..
That's pretty fucking clever lol
There's something so sexy about an upside down fender headstock!
the top-comment guy forgot to mention BB King
damn this is tight!
Buta de um cara!!Vale a pena ouvir!
so many pple think john mayer sucks then they totally change their minds when they actually listen..
Like a lot of people, I hated his pop stuff. But when it comes to the blues, he's the real deal. For all the haters-------let's see a vid of you doing better!
It's like he's Marty McFly at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance, but for real.
It looks like an American Standard Strat to me. At first I thought it was a lefty , but the tone and volume knobs are are right handed. I think its just got a funky reversed head stock. Whatever, It sounds good
@dipsetallday75 I guess it's the Fender Jimi Hendrix Tribute Strat in Olympic White P/N 010-6822. It's got a reversed headstock.
nice vid clang... suya ko, duol mo dah...
How the fuck does he play the low E with his thumb, that's some bullshit right there.
video is off sync.. :(
flawless playing amazing song
talk to someone back in the day when hendrix first hit the scene and I'm sure they will think it sounds like garbage...in fact a lot of artist's work doesn't become famous until after they pass away, Van Gogh was a starving artist...Ok well I've been rambling, but the point is, don't ever think that everything that can be done has been done, especially when it comes to an art form...there are very few absolutes in life other than death hehe
So now with that said...suppose you want to create something original! Well, often the first thing you'll do is emulate what you've heard/read. This is mostly because you associate what you respect or enjoy with "good"...well the true artist will innovate this, ie not be afraid to stray from the norm. The same way that someone can create completely new poetry or written work, they can do the same with music. It's really our own lack of vision and bias that usually makes us judge work as not good
Well, this is a little geeky, but think of it like this: notes/chords are words, and they can be arranged in a timed sequence as words can be arranged in sequence on paper: hey me world true went hospital! This is obviously garbage. So there is some convention of how words should be sequenced, ie basic grammar principles similar to music theory...ie a chord in this key should follow that chord similar to basic sentence structure (that you more or less implicitly develop through reading)...ok
I'd say this statement is completely wrong...as the number of things you can play the guitar is beyond infinite (any instrument for that matter). If you want to play blues, then yea, you're not exactly trying reinvent the 12 bars...but in general, no way has everything been done...look at the sort of stuff Jimmy Page did with alternate tuning
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...music like the blues where composition takes a back seat to phrasing and pure emotion encourages note for note renditions...what better way to jam hideaway then play freddy king note for note...or ask SRV about playing Albert King licks...it's just the template used...a way to show you've studied! It's like claiming a mathematician is ripping off the Arabs: he's counting in base 10 numbers...lol
He is a top flight guitar player without question. His pop songs don't show that off as well, but the JM Trio stuff...awesome.
theres a difference than straight up copying him...
good point haha
hey i like mayer.. but its oh so obviously true
i totally agree if wan't to be able to judge over mayer's playing you should watch the whole DVD
dang.. lets rip off of bb king a lil more mr mayer.. jeex that whole solo all i heard was bb then some hendrix
Per the Fender website, it's because his idol, Stevie Ray Vaughan used to have a guitar like that. Going further, an influence of Stevie's, Jimi Hendrix, played his Strat's upside down.
do a YT search for anyone of those names you'll get your answer. I tried to send you a link but you have it so only friends can send msgs to you
agreed he's a great guitarists but not underrated. I seen through the pop hits and seen him for the great artist he is. underrated would be the likes of Kalai Andy mckee Stefano Barone
I've been listening to a lot of different John Mayer songs. In my opinion he is an outstanding musician. I've liked his music since I first became aware of him. Tonight, listening to quite a variety of his work, I'm amazed. What a talent.
just a custom choice, plus it's a hendrix trademark look
why does he have an inverted head?
under rated ? come on,
Yeah man, you know whats your talking about... Nice riff...
speachless............
btw the Say What is a SRV song
no problem
