The second day of my epic trip. The spoke in my wheel burst. The part of the trail was closed, but I decided to continue the trip. Was it the right decision?

At the end of August I’ve decided to swim in the lake at the Goderich’s beach, so I packed my bike and went for another touring adventure. Please enjoy the first day of 2-days trip from Toronto to Goderich, ON.

Awesome!
I’m assuming this is a teaser clip of a recent bike adventure tour of Portugal? Or will it be a series of regular travel vlogs instead?
No, unfortunately I didn’t bring my bike with me there :) Just a road trip in Portugal- Spain.
Great ride. Thanks for sharing. I think that was the Peddling Paddler ahead of you on the trail. th-cam.com/video/gzJ359s1hyc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LPyRwEgjWBytbm-c
@@mikedarroch6697 Omg, yes it’s him. We had a short chat- nice guy, a real bike traveller :) I can learn a lot from him.
Love this guy. So positive. I did the G2G last year, an amazing ride. Thanks for sharing your experience. You’ve inspired me to go the G2G again but this time to start riding from home.
@@mikedarroch6697 Thank you so much :) Yeah, the G2G was a pleasure, I might even do it again next year. Hopefully we’ll meet there ;)
Loved it thanks 😊 🙏
@@morrismacri638 thanks Morris ☺️
Awesome
Your video brought back nice memories of my kids when they were your toddler's age -- they're around 30 now! I also enjoy your biking videos. I biked across Canada last summer with Tour du Canada -- it was a fantastic ride. Lots of camping and biking, around 130 km a day, on average. Keep enjoying life! Slava Ukraini!
@@RappaDaddyK Heroiam Slava :) Thanks. Yeah, time flies crazily. She’s already 4, and I look at those videos and can’t believe she was that small. Wow, I just Googled Tout du Canada.. it’s crazy! You’re a biking superhero :) I’d love to do that one day.
@@vladkabanets8186 It wasn't that hard, and I prepared for it. You would have loved Day 3, when we went over a few larger hills in British Columbia. Summers, I'm just up the Humber River, camping in an RV at Indian Line Park near the Clairville Dam. About 30km down the Humber Valley Trail to the spot you guys were feeding the ducks. Maybe we could ride together sometime. (Winters I am in north St Catharines, right near the Niagara Loop, which is 150+km. Really nice ride, a lot of trail and quiet roads.)
Agree, the most difficult part is the Hill before Brock's Monument just before Niagara. Do you back to Toronto in the train as I can see.
@@luissalazar6960 yeah, we planned the return with the GO train. We would not do same distance on bikes again 😅
nice trip
It was! Thanks :)
👍❤️
like to do a long ride this month bro?
Any time bro :)
@@vladkabanets8186 when let me know , I'm in malton rt now
I've lived in the Niagara Region my whole life and honestly didn't even know you could actually bike from T.O. to N.F. I of course recognized most of the places you visited but especially the N.O.T.L to the Falls ride. Looks like a very fun trip
@@mikerichardson60 you should give it a try ;) It’s a fun ride.
Great video! Different route than mine. I did this a couple of years back on my Felt Nine 70 mountain bike. I have eosinophilic asthma, and I took longer than you, not surprising. 😂 But happy I made it, 163 km that day. Hoping to do it again this August 2024.
@@GlendonMellow wow, 163 km on a mountain bike 👏 My respect 🫡
@@vladkabanets8186 cheers Vlad! I should 10k total km on this bike later this year (after ~4 years) so maybe I’ll treat myself to a road bike after that milestone, lol.
what's the best way to find the route for this . Google maps?
@@Arjun1234 I built the route using app Komoot, and then transferred it to my Garmin watch.
This was such a good video! Going to be doing this ride myself soon too, now looking forward to it more! How long did the ride take in total? What time did you actually make it to the falls?
@@fintanmsharpe Oh, you’ll enjoy the ride for sure! Good luck. Regarding the time, it took us about 12-13 hours, but we were not rushing at all: we had numerous 20-30 mins stops along the way. I’m pretty sure it can be done much faster if it’s the goal. But we wanted to enjoy the ride, not just to complete it.
This was a highly entertaining video. While I know you aren’t the first person to make this type of vlog nor will be the last, your edits, song choices, and monologues mesh well together to give this more of a “cinematic” feel to it. Great job!
@@raywiecha wow, thanks so much for such a comment! I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed it :)
Nice. The section from Niagara on The Lake to Niagara Falls is especially good. Picturesque and on a bike path by the river. It is a flat ride with only one brief uphill section by Brock's Monument at Queenstown. An easy climb with modern bike gearing.
100%! We were pretty tired there though, was hard to enjoy it all, but you’re right- that part is the most beautiful.
Plan to do reverse in few next week . On MTB . So good job )
wow, good luck! Make a video, id love to see it :)
@@vladkabanets8186 actually, will glad to add you in any social media , happy to find someone like spending time.same.way
Something I want to do! Excellent.
Go for it! :)
nice video! have you done the niagara bike loop? I think it's about 170km as well.
Thanks Dallin! No, I have not been at the Niagara with my bike since this video. Is this loop worth it?
How long did it take?
About 12 hours with all food and rest stops
Awesome job!
Loved watching your trek to the falls. Keep riding!
Thanks! Will do!
Awesome video....I would love to do it soon! If you do it again do let me know I would love to join!
Great riding achievement. I did a similar solo bike ride last August 2022 before I turned 60 years old, from North York at 7:00 a.m to Niagara Falls for 174 kilometers with an elapsed time of 8 hours and 53 minutes. The route I took was Lakeshore , North Service Road to Niagara On The Lake route. It was an enjoyable solo ride and I plan to do it again in 2024. My longest solo round trip in 1 day was from Ottawa to Brockville, Ontario and back for 215 kilometers with an elapsed time of 10 hours and 26 minutes.
Thanks for the information, around 54 and plan to do it. Hope this year, need to protect my knee, so I need to go slowly. From North York what route do you take?
@@luissalazar6960 I have my Strava link below. Let me know if you are able to see my route.
@@pinoyeh No, I can not see it.
Great job!! Makes me want to do a similar ride from Belleville to the west. The views are awesome!
You should! Toronto to Belleville was my favourite part of this trip
