The Last WILL and TESTAMENT Review (Is it any good?)
มุมมอง 15114 วันที่ผ่านมา
Opeth released a new album, and I have to say, The Last WILL and TESTAMENT is something truly special. I’ve always enjoyed their shift towards progressive rock in the 2010s, but I also believe their mid-career progressive death metal era has some of their best material... At least, until now. As I mentioned in the video, this album might just surpass everything they’ve done before, but I’ll nee...
George Orwell's Animal Farm

Animal Farm is one of the greatest books ever written. George Orwell's timeless satire of the Russian Revolution serves as a powerful cautionary tale about the dangers of unchecked ambition and the rise of authoritarian leaders. Katatonia is my all-time favorite band. No band has ever impacted me more. I got into them back in 2007/08. I was working a shit job at a sandwich shop and would have Opeth radio on Pandora playing, and it kept playing songs from Viva Emptiness. I kept hearing songs that just made my ears perk up and it was always the same band, the same album, and 3 songs in particular: Ghost of the Sun, Criminals and Evidence. I went to the local record shop to buy the album, but they didn't have it. What they did have was The Black Sessions compilation which had songs from Discouraged Ones, Tonight's Decision, Last Fair Deal Gone Down and Viva Emptiness, plus a few B-Sides that weren't available on anything else. I ordered Viva Emptiness and their newest album, The Great Cold Distance from eBay. That was over 15 years ago and I don't think I've gone more than a week since without listening to their music. I take great pleasure in saying that even their newest album is some of their absolute best work. Viva Katatonia!

I am Brazilian and lived here my whole life. but you said some things I strongly disagree. I was utterly confused then you said you're happy trump won. The guy who is basically the character Napoleon from the book? also. you think Brazilians are not allowed to criticize PT`s government? I was in favor of PT for a while and always criticized the way they did things, some of my family as well. I have participated in political meetups at my town several times and always criticized them. There was no backlash as you claim. If you are from Brazil then you clearly did not understand a word of the criticisms of the book, or, you're acting in bad faith due to your political identity. the left in Brazil is not perfect, but the far right opposition of Bolsonaro was outright calling for a military coup. I enjoyed the synthesis of the video. and the proper understanding of what Orwell had to say. I also disagree with how the USSR conducted itself after claiming to be socialist and for the betterment of the people while clearly making it an oligarchy. but your personal remarks against socialism at the end proves you`re still missing the greater picture. I was once a right leaning person due to my parents raising me this way. and after studying history for the better part of my life have slowly grown to see that socialism is the only way to move forward, like most of the more prosperous countries are doing. capitalism and the free market are a lie to feed people. If society does not exist for providing an equal better life for everyone, then it will only fall into monopolies of billionaires like Elon musk with an excessive power over the government which we clearly see happening now. I'd urge you to think more critically about these things. As most of the folks I know in the left do. They're also biased, and blind to certain truths, but certainly more aware of these things than the right tends to be.

Well, as for you first point, I imagine comments like this might appear, so let me explain it. About Trump winning. Yes, I am very happy, because if he does at least 50% of what he's promising, the USA will be back on its tracks as the real world-leading nation it should be. I cut that part out of the final video, but toward the end I mentioned how although I was happy, I still don't personally like either Elon nor Trump. Being Napoleon? Of course not, he's more like the Old Major, but it doesn't really matter, for they were based off already existing people. Stalin and Lenin. You just can't compare Trump to either of them, that's completely wrong. About not being able to criticise PT. Yes, of course you can, you said it yourself, you supported them but also criticised them... What about 90% of other people who support PT? Remember back that senior who released a short and simple video on TH-cam, saying that he was going to vote for Bolsonaro because he believe him to be the better candidate? What happened? Leftist PT-Supporters started claiming that he was a p*dophile and that were going to kill him for that, all because he didn't want to support Lula. That's what I meant for censorship, you simply will never see legacy media (Globo, especially) criticising Lula. That will never happen, because his cabinet finantially backs up legacy media. That's it for censorship and control of information. I also do not support Bolsonaro, where did you get that from? I never said I supported him. I hate Bolsonaro as much as I hate Lula. Bolsonaro is not half the man either Trump nor Argentina's Milei are, and that's a fact. So if it ended up leading you to believe I support him, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. I totally disgree with capitalism being a lie. Look over at the USSR. Once it collapsed, what happened with the previously Socialist nations? They all became Capitalist because Socialism is a fairy tale that leads to poverty. Communism assumes that all humans are good and that nobody wants to take disadvantage of others, that's completely wrong, and it always ended up with something like China (Most of the population still under the poverty line while the Communism party has all the profit and the money) or with something like North Korea (where every aspect of peoples' lives is controlled by the government and concentration camps still exist). Another example on how Socialism doesn't work, compare Western Germany to Eastern Germany, even nowadays the once-Communist half is still poorer in worse conditions than the Capitalist half. I'm not saying that Socialist is inherently bad, you can apply Socialist ideas on a Capitalist system and it would most definitely work, like what happened on Sweden, Norway, Finland, but in the end they still are Capitalist nations. Whereas Socialism you are born poor and remains poor the rest of your life, in Capitalism you have the opportunity of becoming something better. There's no morality in Capitalism, you know why? Because it is real life, not a fairy tale. Who tried to give morality to Capitalism was Karl Marx, a drunkard just like our current president. Anyway, thank you for commenting.
