    Union workers are lazy. I have heard many non union workers noted that union workers will tell non union workers to slow down and don't work too hard b/c you make the union workers look bad. Dishonest work for honest pay. I wonder how many of those union workers are God fearing people. Probably none.

    What's the purpose of the Union? If you can go out, start your own business by your own insurance and start a royh I. R. A. Now you're in control of your own life. So if something fails, the only person to blame is you.

    I was raised around heavy equipment growing up and was running machinery for my uncle and father from age 10 on up. I've worked for the union and will only say this. The union steward brought me in on an existing job laying water main. First day had me dig around a group of fiber-optics that were a tough dig and when I finished ....you guessed it they laid me off!!! Union operators from what I've seen all talk a good story but I've yet to find one skill wise that will match up to a common sense non- union operator that has been in the seat not the classroom. And as far as pay and benefits after 35yrs operating for the same.company I'll put my pay stubs up against any union stub any day. If you go union best of luck I'm your career, as long as we keep quality employees in the industry it will be a future for anyone looking to find a challenge

    the union trade jobs that pay the most are a huge racket shakedown. you need to be connected to get in; and when you do, you pay dues and your life owns to the union which is mainly societal rejects that can't function in the real world; you will become a simple clock watcher and complain about the capitalist company that pays you (ironic) there is nothing noble here, but I applaud anyone union or not of skimming off the top because let's face it, all employees are getting the short end

  • @Romuluz369
    @Romuluz369 ปีที่แล้ว

    I did union and non union. Unions are legit the worst thing for workers. I had constant problems getting short paychecks, late paychecks, no paychecks, my benefits never seemed to kick in even after years, I had tools getting stolen, safety was practically ignored, I was threatened and insulted whenever I asked for help or clarification, almost never allowed to work, threatened when I found side work, and finally fired when I took side work just to pay my bills. Labour unions are the absolute worst for workers. Every non union gig I've taken since has paid more, cared more, and worked more. Its not wonder labour unions are dying. Only 20% of trade labour in Canada is unionized, and it's dropping every year. Can't wait for these criminals to be gone forever. If I don't like a company, I negotiate with my feet. I'm always looking for a job that will pay more, when I find it, I usually take it (unless I just really like the crew I'm with or something) and within a few months of leaving the hall I was already earning more than I had in all the years I was all the hall COMBINED. Unions are cancer.

    Unions protect lazy workers, and they make projects way more inefficient, waste your time with stupid meetings and make you pay union dues. I find working for small companies to be better, they rely on you, high turnover rates are no good for small places, I have a pension plan and a blue cross card that covers medical and dental to a certain amount.

  • @dragnothlecoona
    @dragnothlecoona ปีที่แล้ว

    Thing about unions, when you join as an apprentice, your not even allowed to complain and you have to go where they tell you, even if it's 70 plus miles away from your home and you have to work, even if it's costing you your paycheck just to stay where you are working, and they don't ever explain shit to you, unless you specifically ask, not only that but the dues are a very large chunk of your paycheck. and if your new to working and don't know what your doing, well then your real screwed. Cuz if you don't pick up the trade real quick, you'll find yourself out of the union only after a week or two after starting work. Worst still, if they send you somewhere where you have to wait around a lot like a nuclear plant as your first job. You ain't picking shit up quick and will quickly find yourself out of a job and out of the union. They fire people from unions just like people get fired from companies. Really, they are just overblown companies that simply rent their workers to other companies, pretending to be all worker friendly by mimicing the old guild structures. But are more similar to the companies which they seem to hate and "protect" their workers from. When in reality, they don't protect the workers, they protect themselves as an organization in the same way companies protect themselves. I saw a guy who was being constantly drug tested every day by a company, and did they union do anything. Nope.

    Ya'll live in a fantasy world. Most union workers I know are laid off half the time and all they do is complain when they do work. Then they complain about how high insurance is when they retire and gripe about their retirement. Most of them end up going back to work. Unions have ruined this country and workers.

  • @RDRF_SB13
    @RDRF_SB13 ปีที่แล้ว

    I see the mental health of workers is increasingly deteriorating due to many conditions. I see little effort but words with no practical solutions. I see workers feeling ostracized from their labour because they feel they are nothing but a replaceable cog in a machine. I've become more involved in my union to try and bring awareness to the needs of modern workers. A democratic workplace would be most ideal, but that is not achievable with the current ruling class holding the reigns of power. By becoming more involved, I hope to be able to empower my fellow worker and help us regain some dignity, pride, and connection to our labour. Solidarity.

    I think unions can be good, depending on the company and field of work. There still are some non-union companies that pay as well with benefits. While pensions are good to have, some still could run into difficulties paying the members due to corruption or mismanagement of funds. This has happened occasionally in the past, just ask some teachers. I was under a union years ago, they didn't do anything for us while I was a member for 10 years, so not all unions have benefitted their members. I'm not bashing unions as a whole, but don't be mis-led by a 3 minute video.
