Not sure where u guys are located, but am from so cal and we race in Huntington Beach 🏖️. The cars used are anything from Traxxas and arrma mainly, 2wd chassis and 4wd chassis. There’s kids class stock 3s and then stock chassis 2wd & 4wd going from 3s to 8s. Then there is 2wd & 4wd unlimited class anything gos with up to 12s lipo battery 🔋 but I guess it depends on who is hosting the event. It’s a lot of and very challenging in a non traditional drag racing on asphalt or cement in my opinion

U mentioned straight axle. Would the portals not be a good idea? I have the scx10 iii gladiator which is a longer chassis. Im thinking of making it a puller. Any suggestions or would this jot be an ideal platform? Thanks

Big fan of the Scorpion/Turbo Scorpion personally. Just ran mine yesterday and I enjoy running it every chance I get. I assume that's the track in Lucama? There aren't any tracks local to me anymore. The one in Duncan NC closed a while back unfortunately. I might have to check this track out. BTW, congrats and welcome to YT. I enjoyed reading your stuff when I subscribed to RCCA back in the day. Yes, my name is G I did try pulling for about around three years. It started in 1980s. I pulled 350 pounds with my club buster 4 x 4 x 4 modified gears and dry shaft change the speed controller and added a lot of weight to the front and stretched the vehicle into the RC pulling specifications. We made a adjustable hitch so you can adjust the hitch for when you’re pulling. I also added a gear reduction system so I can speed up the gears or slow the key is down that I added more to my pulling when I came down. Good luck with your RC and let me know how you make out.😊

There's two points you made that one is true and one is pretty off. 1. RC is a small world - 100% true. Everyone knows everyone as for the manufacturers. In fact most of the people just jump from company to company - it's like the same 14 people and most of it started at HPI. 2. This one's somewhat unclear, but you mentioned about hiring yourself, but mentioned "Influencers" and NOT charging a fee. I can't disagree more on this one (If the "influencer" has an audience the vendor wants to tap into, that is). Having a TH-cam channel and 196 subscribers, yeah, you shouldn't charge a fee for the video. What's so toxic in the RC world specifically is vendors think that a product for video trade is fair. In some cases, it can be, but most, it's not (once again IF you have the audience). Going "back in the day" - vendors would spend $1,000's for magazines to "review" their new RC. Of course, it wasn't exchanged that way - it was a "Send me your vehicle AND place X amount on an ad for the magazine and we will "feature" it". Talk about bias. Well, we all know what happened to magazines. Fast forward to TH-cam "influencers" - sure, you get to play with all of the cool new toys and give your supposed un-biased opinion, but it's work. And a TON of work, especially if you put any kind of production value into your videos. Exchanging a $300 (retail) RC car for, in some cases 15-20 hours of work is pathetic. Even at best case, if the influencer sells the used RC, they'll snag about $150 before fees. That's at best $10 per hour of sporatic work. Now, on the flip side, that vendor just got an "influencer" to make a video, gather 50,000+ views on that video (remember hobby grade RC is a small world) in the first few weeks and sent at least 2,500 (5% of the views is typical) pre-qualified buyers to your website - and yes, I have tracked it. If 10% (of the 2,500) actually purchase that $300 RC, that's $75,000 the vendor raked in on that one video in the first few weeks - and those are conservative numbers. You can't buy magazine ads, Google ads, Facebook ads, etc for a mere $200 (the cost of that $300 RC) to gather $75,000 in sales. So, yes, qualified "influencers" should charge a fee and the cheap RC vendors should pay it happily. The kicker I saw was when the vendor asks for the vehicle BACK! Yes, that's happened many times. Just my $0.02 from this side of the fence.

Great info, the biggest take away for me is to avoid the SM drama. Often I feel the need to right the wrongs or stand up for brands getting bashed. More and more I feel like pulling back the reins on SM. My grand scheme is to design and manufacture aftermarket parts as well as promote and grow my YT channel. I'm hoping to have my first batch of parts available by spring, I was hoping to get rolling this last fall but w/ potential new rigs and platforms staged to be released I had to step back and wait for the dust to settle .
