What’s the best glitchless max key count? The best I can do is 22 or 23.
Without doing full research, my guess is 24? If you are considering the 3 khananakey and 1 pirouette as the glitches.
@@rooslugs6440 I’m not super familiar with glitch uses. I think I was able to get to level 9 with 23 keys, but I couldn’t find a path that didn’t result in more keys lost than gained.
@@reedr7142 I believe you can gain a key in 9. May have to die (or Up+A) to do it. I recall entering with 28 keys and ending on 29.

What's these boosts and pumps being discussed in chat?
Basically, you can use some of the scenery objects to skip walking corner pixels in certain directions, saving frames. When it comes to trying to time things early in the run, you can use those "pumps" to vary your timing to attempt influencing RNG. The boost, in this case, is a chance to save a very small amount of time in a meme category where the goal is getting the letter.

Great tutorial roo, thanks for making this! Question... where would you suggest grabbing a potion for this route? Currently I'm taking the long coastal route to 5 and grabbing the potion along the way. I'd like to skip the coast and go directly to 5 like you've done here, but I don't know if I can survive 9 w/o a potion!
If you are saying you would like both a blue ring and a potion, then the quickest way is to steal one from a heart container spot you are not currently grabbing. You can try to get the letter and farm money to buy one, but grabbing one from a "take any" is likely a better play.
Fastest way it to wait till ones in the pro shop and buy it

Amazing run. Just curious why Lack's 1:40 was removed from the leaderboard? Heard you talking about it during the run but didn't see an definitive reason why mentioned by you or in the chat.
His run and other had a discovered rule violation (there are dozens of intentional and unintentional ways of violating them in this run), well after the original submission and acceptance. The runs were taken down by the runners after the DQs were found.

This is insane. Congratulations. I actually started the "all levels" speed run about 18 months ago, but back then I was doing it with a chart. I had no idea (and I still don't understand) how to know the outcome from the start like you do. Have you tried the rom hack of this game that makes all potential outcomes possible? It's much more fun, in my opinion, since the RNG in this game is so terrible. Link_7777 made the rom hack, and it's available at romhacking.net. Once again, congrats!
This thing wrecks the fingers. Almost all the moves are buffered to a degree, but you still have to keep up the timing and pace ... kind of detaching your mind from your fingers as they input precisely. I will have to check out the hack for certain. Thanks for the idea!
Funny thing is you can beat level 8 as your first dungeon without ever needing to enter another one. All you need is bombs and the sword. I think only "required" dungeons are as followed (assuming you wish to enter each dungeon only once, and excluding 9) Three must come before four (Raft to reach it) Four must come before five (Step ladder to navigate) One and four must come before six (Bow for boss, step ladder to navigate) Four and five must come before seven (Recorder to open, step ladder to navigate)
Great observation Players have great liberty in how to approach the game There are obviously objectively optimal choices, and there are also practical limitations due to skill Playing in different dungeon orders is illuminating and enjoyable Thanks for the ideas
