I have also helva shop in Türkiye and I'm 5th gen. It is so close how we make helva, we just use shovel at the start then switch back to hand. But your helva seems good cuz I see you don't break the fibers. Well done.

The best barbecue I’ve ever tasted, was at my theo’s in Crete. Just shocked every time I see how much people spend on propane barbecues with built-in refrigerators, car, stereo decks, etc., Only to put cheap hamburger and hotdogs, directly on top of a burning propane flame. If you spend $10,000 on your barbecue, you should be banned from barbecuing 😂

Thank you, that was really like nostalgic watch. Great to know that somebody preserves the traditions... some taste combo's and dish names were recognizable. Shall I suggest... Pontic Greeks are all? those who lived around? the Black Sea. Like I am from southern Ukraine and we had Greeks here for at least from 6-5 b.c., and some roots are still around, dishes remind some of ours and in the Caucasus... So, not only Anatolia... 👋

Haven't eaten at the retaurants mentioned here, but I can say that Inodion will not disappoint. For a village-style meal go to Piskokefalo and eat at Aeroinon. Piskokefalo is only a 5 or 6 minute drive from Sitia (on the road to Lerapetra).

I guess this will be a video viewed in the future that gives an insight into how, only a few generations ago, food production was a communal affair in many places of the world.
