How much does something like this cost?
I have installed a schluter pan and used all set to put down marble hexagons, but have not grouted or sealed the marble yet.. I would like your honest opinion on what I should do forward.. I’m trying to avoid the “wet” marble that you talk about.. I wish I would have known this , obviously before i thinset the marble down. I’m just a homeowner and have spent ridiculous hours on this master bathroom.. Thank You,
Very good 👍
Looking great .. what a mission that job was for you I'd say ..nearly their well done 👏
Thank you!
ive never even though of how much of a pain in the ass laying big tiles would be, how often do they break?
When handled and installed correctly, they wouldn't break.

I would to install Dekton slabs for my bathroom remodel from a tub to a shower conversion. What is your experience in regards to the thickness (most durable) that is best used for the shower walls and the shower tray? I would like to use matte slabs for the shower walls. Would you know if the matte slabs are as easy to clean as the gloss slabs. Also, are there instructions on how to cut and install these slabs for my contractor? Are the slabs readily available in the United States?
Question boss, the thinsett directly to the playwood won’t be a future problem,?
SMH. No one working is actually wearing safety glasses, a mask (for what?) or ear plugs, yet this video stops to Virtue Signal anyways.
Wow! Amazing job!! 👍👍👍
Beautiful work
Thank you!
Just curious why use blanke system?, if others like Ardex ui720 also a great system. What makes blanke special?
Дай Вам Боженька, чтоб руки не болели. Ответственный и нелёгкий труд!
Garvage material, it brake so easily that if you need 2 slabs for the proyect, just start thinking about buying at least 3 because most likely one is going to break. Plus you can’t polish the edges, the only way to make them look good is by doing a 45 cut and glue a return on it. There is other much more resistent materials that can be polished saving a lot of labor.
Very helpful info-thank you for posting. Could you seal the tile BEFORE adhering it, or would that cause an issue?

The call in 3 years. Customer need a cracked tile replaced due to settling of framing. So dumb to put something that large and nonflexible on walls .
Is kerapoxy an equivalent to Spectralock pro? It’s interesting how you finished these joints compared to just grouting them normally.
Kerapoxy CQ epoxy grout & mortar is similar to Laticrete's Spectralock Pro except for the latter cannot be used to create such a mitered edge due to it's larger grains.
@@TileProUSA thanks for the reply. I was planning to use Spectralock pro on mitered niche and window joints. Would you not recommend it and instead use kerapoxy?
I have this issue with my current shower that was redone. From what i saw then install they used sand pack or whatever then put the marble right on top and grouted over the tile. He was unaware that marble had to be sealed but i caught it before it was an issue and sealed it. Is the discoloration something i have to have them pull it all up and fix or can i live with the color issue or will it get worse and cost me more later?
The same without separation
Why don't people run ufh cable under the shower area? It's the most important area to warm!
Is that a crack in the tile when youre drilling holes?!
That pony wall is worthless
Thank you for sharing your opinion. As opposed to framed half walls XPS pony wall provides a monolithic waterproof structure that has less then 1/16" wiggle before tile is installed and feels like rock after it's finished with large format porcelain. Your comment indicates your lack of personal experience and/or technical information on this subject.
@@TileProUSA maybe i am wrong, I have not calculated anything, but I could not trust such an adhesive type connection in shear and doubt it would pass any framing inspection in my area. Does Wedi support such use?
@@billsnyder6945 such pony wall is a decorative design element added to contain water and place where to put a recessed niche. Sealant alone, even with no meshtape on the sides, will make such pony wall feel sturdier than a similar wall framed with 2×4 and covered with cement board. You are simply unfamiliar with what XPS and sealant could do.
Beautiful. Would love to see the setting of those enormous wall tiles as well.
NICE WORK! Ever run into an issue where 24"x24" tiles are actually 23 5/8"x23 5/8"? They are slightly smaller than the kerdi shower pan and I'm looking to do an envelope cut with 4 24"x24" tiles with the square center drain. I think I'm going to have to cut the pan down but 1/4" all sides and make sure the rough framing is based off that rather than the original shower pan size but it's such a small amount. Be nice if they just made the 24"x24" tiles true to size.
Great work, i enjoy watching your videos! Tile work is an art and i appreciate your attention to detail! Tile guy's rule! Cheer's from Southern. California
THANK YOU!
More easy to install that membrane
Yes, such a great product!
I been trying to get one for a long time
A professional will bend you over when you get the bill
Great video! Quick question. How did you bond the sheet membrane to the top of the ebbe drain?
You have to use a waterproof sealant like Wedi, GoBoard or similar.
@@TileProUSA Thank you!!
Thank you so much for this video - we are looking to use large format tiles and went to a store today who told us our bathroom was too small and it was impossible as it would require removal of the roof and four people to move the tiles. I tried explaining that didn't seem right and the sales woman just told me she had 30 years experience and I didn't know what I was talking about. Our bathroom appears about the same size (it's a shower and toilet room like this) approx 1500cm by 1750cm by 2400cm high with a 620cm door way - is this similar to this one (if you happen to see the comment) would love to hear any advice or thoughts (obviously we will hire a tiler but she literally told me don't even bother calling them as they answer will be no).
Amazing work! Question. Can I cut a 36x72 porcelain tile with circular saw (diamond blade) without water? Also, can I not have any gaps in the tiles? It’s for a fireplace surround so it’s 3 large pieces (top piece and 2 side pieces).
I live near there and am looking for an installer for an outdoor patio like that. Who did that one and can you recommend anyone? Also, what is done to prevent efflorescence and what is the "grout" material?
Great work man what epoxy did you use and also what spray did you use
Has to be one of the most bulletproof showers I've seen. Ever.
Thank you!
Офигеть! В нормальных странах уже всё изобрели😮
how much did all of this cost? i know marble is around $3000 just for a tub surround shower but you did a walk in shower ?? allthe walls. and vanity wall too?
This is not tiling, this is PURE ART. Absolutely amazing... wow...
Thank you very much for your kind words 🙏
@@TileProUSA Thank you for showing the world your art work 🙏🏻
magic!! wish "father time" wasn't a factor, lol, would love to install panels.
Ugh!!! That is a big fail!! Hate to see that. Got the right man on the job now though!!👍😎
Whoa. That's a big fail! Nice work Pasha!
Why not remove ditra all together? It seems as if it is broken anyway. 👀
Removing both clogs the vaccum hose and/or the port. Ditra is a soft plastic and needs a different set of PCD diamonds to successfully remove it.
@@TileProUSA Hahah. Of course! Makes sense. Thanks for clarifying. 👍
Easy part is finished...time for the nightmare to begin with the underlayment tearout. Good luck!
The most difficult part was removing the 3/8" to 1/2" layer of dried thin-set mortar using the most aggressive PCD diamonds. Removing the Ditra will be easier than that. Will be using a different PCD set that is designed for less aggressive removal.
how old was the job? Is it on Ditra ? no backbutter, no straight/collapsing coming looks to be the reason or is there more to it?
The original large format porcelain panels were installed about 3 years ago. Yes, all above-mentioned problems plus absence of soft joint in the field for movement accomodation.
Couldn't make glueing the edge any harder and slower if you tried. Half a dozen strips of tape hanging vertically off the top, connect the strip, flick the strip over, glue, flip strip over and put a square on it. Done.
This is happening to my marble shower floor & I have only lived in this brand new home a week. The discoloration is about 12-18" in diameter of the main drain. Extremely frustrating and scary given we have been here so short a time and this is already happening. Questions I'd LOVE an answer to!!: Will the area where the discoloration is continue to spread to the rest of the shower floor bed, or up the shower walls, or even outside the shower? We have the same marble floor tiles in the rest of the bathroom and there is no step up to get into the shower - it's all seamless & 1-level, so my fear is that if it "wicks" it might even spread to outside the shower stall. I don't know much but I do know my builder used the Schluter Kerdi system w/ tileable drain. Another question I have is - if this is caused by trapped water, then how does that bode for the long haul? This bathroom is on the 2nd floor. What are our options at this point? We paid a lot of money for this bathroom and I am sick about it. Thank you.
I am sorry to hear about your situation. It's hard to predict by how far the discoloration will spread since there are many unknowns. It usually doesn't spread outside the shower area and tends to stay closer to the drain. If the waterproofing in your shower was done correctly, marble moisture discoloration will only be an esthetic issue.
Thanks for all the information. I am also in the middle of a diy project and have a Schluter pan and just installed and light color mosaic marble floor with Schluter all-set but have not yet grouted. Based on your video it sounds like this discoloration is definitely going to happen. Am I better off ripping this up and starting over with porcelain tile instead of wasting more money tiling the wall and getting custom glass? Is there anything else I can do to save it?
Kevin, do you have any spare marble mosaic tile left? If you do, look at the backside of it and let me know if there is a layer of transparent glue covering the mesh. That layer usually reflects light at a certain angle. How long has it been since you finished setting that shower floor?
@@TileProUSA Yes, it looks like there is a layer of glue on the back of the mosaic tile. The floor was set about 5 days ago.
@@kevineggleston3040 resin-backed tiles technically cannot even be installed with a cement-based thin-set mortar. Also such tiles have higher risk of trapping the moisture under them. At the same time, since the bond of the mortar to resin-backing is usually lower, it is pissible to remove them with a proper tool without damaging the waterproofing membrane below. If that's still possible I would recommend you to consider replacing such stone mosaics with marble-looking porcelain tiles.
What grinder discs do you use?
For straight cuts I use Montolit CSS100 + Tutorcut attachment. For miters I mostly use Helix Hellion R or Helix Porcelana Dura.
What was mixed with the grout?
It looks like the veins aren’t matched in the shower. Did this Dekton color not allow vein matching? Other than that detail, great job!
