Working on it!
Me personally rum cask whiskey is a top pour for me t
This sure changed my opinion, The Balvenie 14 year never impressed me and jaded my opinion
@ the best part of there being thousands of options to choose from!
Heads up guys, Compass Box have sent out a Black Friday special of 40% discount of the archives, I am in the UK so easier for me. I have purchased Vellicor/Orchard House & Canvas for £342, the Vellicor alone is usual price £400. Great review
Wow, they must be liquidating stock! Better load up on the good stuff!
Nice review
From someone who has had this whiskey. It is above average for a 40 - 43 ABV. Buuuuut a cask strength is 100× better value for this price. This resembles a Glenlivet 15 (French oak cognac cask). If you really want to try something value for money and tbh out of this world. Glenscotia 15 is your choice
Thanks for the response Mike, and I agree it’s a very good dram but for a $700 bottle I expected more. I’ll be sure to check out your recommendations and next week we’re doing a blind comparison of the three big Glenfiddichs.
Me and your mum opened a bottle the week before, sorry mate
Hahahaha what did she think??
@ she appreciated your good sense of humor 🤙
love it boss😊
It’s so good, we just had some more this week
Great interview, enjoyed this and gained more insight. Cheers 🥃
Glad you enjoyed it my man!
Buffalo Trace is my go to daily bourbon, so i might need to try Dalmore here soon...
Buffalo Trace is an awesome whiskey and a great entry into the world of whisky, The Dalmore will add a bit more depth of flavor
Adding Water?! 😳😂
Practically against the law right?
@@TheWhiskeyLab haha yup 🥃 😀
Just found and Subbed to your Channel! Love Larceny BP, I have every release except B520 and C920 which are my two unicorns!
Thank you for the subscribe! And yeah it will be a continuous purchase for us, can’t believe I waited years to open mine
Huge Larceny BP fan and the A124 is a favorite. Sweet, rich, an oily. Reminds me of some of the older Stagg bottles.
This sure was a bell ringer, but Stagg... that is something we've not seen in quite some time
I've bought A123, C923 and A124... and A124 consistently wins blinds I do between them (and some other bottles)... closely behind is C923... distant 3rd is A123. Problem is Rare Breed ($50 shelfer) beats all 3, every... single... blind. Standard Larceny is ok... I'm surprised how little mention it gets. It holds up fine against most other <$30 bottles. I don't have it (I used it in a blend to kill the bottle I had)... but when I sipped it neat; the sweetness and basic cinnamon&sugar "traditional" bourbon notes were what stood out to me as separating it from most of the other bottles I compared it against in that price range... basically if someone wanted a <$30, very sweet, low proof bourbon... I'd recommend it. Also I may be misunderstanding you @7:50, but A120 is not from this year. It's the first release of 2020. Heaven hill (Elijah Craig, Larceny, Bernheims) batch these barrel proofs three times a year. Batch code is: A, B, C (first second or third release) 1,5,9 (Jan, May, Sep release date) XY (Release Year). So the 2024 releases are A124, and will be B524 (should be out soon), and C924 (coming in September). A120, A121, A122 etc... will be all the releases from the first batch for the last few years (2020, 2021, 2022, etc). The various Finite collections of these releases like you seem to be trying to track, can only be done by the tiny little laser codes they etch into the glass of the bottle itself... and they tell you things like exact bottling date. Those are usually ignored (though there was a big hubbub about them with the Elijah Craig C923 batch; where people believe certain bottled dates (identified by that laser code) were better than others.) If you want to experiment with other proof expressions... they also sell bottled Kentucky Limestone water; which is what the bottle would have been diluted with @ the distillery if it were proofed down before release.
Well you just nudged us to add Rare Breed to our Larceny standard compared to barrel proof. Did you see Rare Breed just came out in Whisky Advocates list of Best bourbon's under $100?
@@TheWhiskeyLab I hadn't, but it doesn't surprise me. I've been going a little nuts with bourbon buying and tasting/blinding the past year... up to 60+ bottles on my bar... and Rare Breed basically became the yardstick that I use to eliminate so many bottles from repurchase consideration. When a bottle beats it in a blind... I know we're dealing with a really good bottle. That said; I've got a lot of very tasty bottles on my bar that don't beat it (among those are my Larceny Barrel Proofs); that I do enjoy drinking; but I just won't ever replace; because they cost more than Rare Breed... and the future of my bourbon bar is going to be a handful of nice mixers; some lower proof stuff for when I want an easier drink; Rare Breed; and the bottles I like better than Rare Breed.
The buy again point is a good standard, for quite some time it was Aberlour A’Bunadh and Lagavulin 16 for me. Also, thank you for the update on Larceny releases, I had no idea!
Well first off I don't care for standard Larceny at all so I know your opinion is going to likely be different than mine about other bottles too. I think it comes down to what profile you prefer in these different Larceny Barrel proof editions, something darker or something sweeter. The best Larceny Barrel proof I have had is C922 which was on the darker side. If I had to pick one after that it's C923 because that one was the sweetest I've ever had in these. Just depends what style on any given day one prefers.
@@BigBadJerryRogers I'm not saying I love it... but I remember the Junkies calling it basically poison... while fawning over 1792 small batch. They're both roughly the same quality. WT101, OF100 beat both. KC9 Smashes both. etc.
Very precise with those measures 😂😂
Yeah man, the eye-mometer is dangerously accurate
Mañana means Tomorrow in Spanish

Great Stream, cheers lads.

I'm looking forward to my visit to Campbeltown this month.
Looking forward to that episode, so much history there!
$179 in VA. Had my first pour last night, no water. I’m not impressed so far, but will be patient.
I had another pour myself last night. I think it’s quite overhyped but for the price compared to other 18 years it’s good. However, I think it’s time to compare to Glenfiddich 18 year or Macallan 15. Do you think others in that price range are better bangs for the buck?
Hey Jay, when is Mark back? 😂
ha! Tonight live the beard is back!
Pretty good video! I already want to try this whiskey hahaha
It's so good, you absolutely should pick up a bottle
ai sim hein funil, ja pode trazer whisky pá nois

I was a bit shocked myself, I thought the whiskey on ice would be overwhelming haha

Good review but i dont think it was the first in the US th-cam.com/users/shortsx9sbsbq74wk?si=tVQJBzF0VTfqd9uF
I like driving a Honda civic standerd Vtech to 60 miles but a Camaro with a muscle Hemi engine is the Best experience I have experienced ! Dalmore 12!!!!
Really good in-depth review for someone on the knife edge whether to go for it or not. Thanks, new subscriber 👍🥃
Thank you! We’ve learned quite a bit over the past few months, our review will get better as we go
Mark in the Buff is a sight to behold 🙃 Dalmore 15 is my go-to Whisky. I've given plenty of thought to the proof of Whisk(e)y, and does that tailor my thoughts to the choice of Whisk(e)y I opt for and I have to say it does not. Cask Strength is always great, but I feel there is a time and place for them. PS: I've been pushing you guys out a lot this past week. I hope your new subscribers get out of this more than I do.
Thanks man!
Cheers!
Guapo!
I think we should go one button lower
Great video! Maybe keep the music way lower
Thank you Bryan, sound is definitely my weak point in skills, I'll adjust for my next video!
About a week late, but still enjoyed a second opinion. th-cam.com/video/tc_5h1B1EsA/w-d-xo.html
Good review, glad you popped into my feed. I picked up a bottle a week ago for $199.00. I'm looking forward to the Port Charlotte 18 which I needed by a few hours.
Oh man, I’d love to try some of that PC18. Let me know what you think would ya? I still have a bottle of PC6 unopened on my shelf from long ago
@@TheWhiskeyLab I made a typo. I missed the PC18 by a few hours. I'm on a list now and waiting to see if they get another. Maybe I'll have to spend a bit more for the Octomore 14.3 that one is on the shelf at my local store
PC18 is out now! Debating ordering direct from bruichladdich.com
@@TheWhiskeyLab I’m hopping my local store get another one, they have 4 more coming supposedly

£149 in the UK. I think I'll add it to my list. Cheers, Jay.
Let me know what you think!
Another good Episode, I don't think I could pronounce that Whisky correctly either. I'm looking forward to the next one.
Thanks Luke!
That wine, along with many other wines from Bordeaux (especially in the upper tier), are made in a way to reach their peak after some time in bottle. So the "Drink from 2027" is not a typo. Often times, wine reviewers will add a drinking window or "drink from" year that is an estimation of when they think the components in the wine will start to achieve harmony. I've seen this idea described by Karen MacNeil as an awkward teenager who grows up to be a sexy Nobel Laureate.
Haha that’s a good comparison, thank you. We sure learned a lot and have a few we’re holding on to for another five years!
For those who haven't had a drink for more than 1 year after pregnancy and breastfeeding, this would work for me, as for now I only drink half a glass a week 😂
Haha my wife is up to one glass now, so we always spray an open bottle to keep it fresh
Surely they mean you should drink it from 2027 onward
Exactly, learned quite a bit following Valentine’s Day
haha I love learning new things. I agree, as worded it seems ambiguous if you're not accustomed to that phrasing.@@TheWhiskeyLab
Who cracks open a bottle of wine and doesn't finish it one sitting. I don't particularly like wine, but when I've had it, I've polished off the bottle. 😅
Dude I’ll tell ya that was our intent, but this bottle was similar to a a 25 year scotch that you sip on a glass for an hour
Really miss Story time by the way, I know there was only me there, but at last, the good old days 😅
Eventually I want to start off like you did with your coffee hour, live sessions and live responding to chat
I had no idea there were other whiskey glasses
They can make a huge difference when trying high quality / good whiskey. Next time you are out don’t be shy to ask for a “sniffer” if not a glencairn AND a glass on the side with ice
For me, this is where the knowledge of the person serving the Whisky comes in. For those new to the dram, having an understanding of what to drink it out of or with what has not yet been established. I drink Whisky out of a 1910 bohemian Crystal Tulip glass. But with Dalmore I use a stag pewter glass.
We have to see this 1910 bohemium glass my friend. In America, bourbon often comes on ice in a standard glass, and one might need to specifically request a "snifter." Unfortunately, outside of whiskey-focused bars, not everyone knows about the Glencairn glass. Your preferences underscores the importance of awareness and education in enhancing the whiskey experience, even as preferences vary widely!
When I win the 1m Sub giveaway ill bring it to the show 😂@TheWhiskeyLab
I really enjoyed this, can we replace Mark with Vanessa 😂 ... Excellent as always.
haha We got a few messages telling us how Vannessa is far more marketable!
@@TheWhiskeyLab😂😂
I sat with a King Alexander III whilst watching this poured before Mark pulled the bottle out. Whisky is for drinking, not to stare at. Personally, I prefer the D18 to the KAIII
What timing! I'm with you on the 18 year, it's quite overpriced where I live but it is a phenomenal dram. Have you had the cigar malt?

@@TheWhiskeyLabthe addition of shorter form videos or clips of the episodes are helpful like the one you did today for the SB. I'm a novice, so I'm curious about taste profiles and how I can figure out/train myself on what the flavors are in each bottle I'm tasting.
