Correct me if I'm wrong, at the last Quiz, wasn't the symbol between ASSIGNMENT and PROJECT upside down? I'm just confused.

well one project can be given by only one assignment and one assignment can have many projects right?

While pretty good, this video has a number of simplifications that might mislead. ERDs can be used to capture design intent at a more conceptual level and/or a more "physical" level (implementation with actual database tables etc). The video says that a many-to-many relationship is not possible. This is incorrect. It is completely possible. To capture a many-to-many relationship between EntityA andEntityB, just draw a relationship between them with crows foot on both ends, and that expresses the intent correctly. However, most databases don't have a way to directly implement that. Instead you need an intermediate join table, with a one-to-many relationship from TableA to the join table, and similar for TableB. So at 14:34, actually the correct answer is Diagram A, because at least it is correct, though requires expansion to actually implement. Meanwhile, Diagram B is incorrect because the relationships to the intermediate ASSIGNMENT table are incorrect. (Also, in the description, the use of "however" is misleading. Just use "and".)

entity= table, row=instance, column=attribute. if i have an entity and i want it to have an attribute of which it could have 0 or 1 or many, then its time to make that attribute its own table. i have a student entity and i want to give it a phone number as an attribute but then i realize that a student can have 0 or 1 or many phone numbers, so that tells me phonenumber should be its own table that i would be called phone.

entity= table, row=instance, column=attribute. and they just couldn't have said it like that in class or as a matter of fact anywhere else.

No doubt it is a very well done lecture. I just want to correct for future learners that @10:09 this is a SuperType/SubType Scenario and so there is a mistake in it. It is an IS-A relation and the min/max cardinality on both sides is one-and-only-one. As you can see when the subtypes (Undergraduate/Graduate) using the primary key from Student table and doesn't have their own primary, it actually says that "Undergraduate/Graduate IS-A Student". And Primary Keys are Unique, so once a subtype instance relates to a StudentID of an instance of a supertype then there is no possibility for any other subtype instance to relate to that same StudentID. At @11:34, this diagram is corrected for Hourly_Employee and Salary_Employee. But again a mistake on Assignment table, it should be one-to-many from both sides.

There is an error with cardinalty between project and assignment it must be inversed that one project could have 0 or many employees in it 0 employees means that the project could be a new project comme to life or in the actual moment nobody care about this project :( so from project is || and from assignment is 0<- so it look || 0<- from emp to assignment
