Covered the same ground about 18months ago with my son. Like yourselves we found Old Andado incredible. Just like she walked out yesterday. It’s good people seem to be respecting the place and the artefacts. I trust people don’t take things and leave it as it is. Just take photos. Reminded me of some of the things my grandma had in her house as I remember it when a kid. We also tracked across to the other camp 1 across the dunes. Was well worth the trip over. I trust the fire in the fire side chat didn’t have any wood from Mac Clarkes reserve 😂. I am sure it didn’t. All the best with the rest of the Madigan line.
Thanks for your comment 😀 Appeared to us that visitors have been respectful of Old Andado which was really good to see. Such an amazing tribute to our early Australian Outback history. The firewood definitely didn’t come from Mac Clarke’s Reserve or Old Andado👍
"Love your flag...!!" 😉🤗
Thanks mate 🤣🤣
Lovely Ep and places
Glad you enjoyed the video 😀👍
Really enjoying your travels Garry and Heather. Showing us all around the wonderful country we call home. How does the SLRV go at altitude or in very cold minus temperatures?
The habitat box is rated to -40 degrees celsius so we’re very comfortable on those cold desert nights!
We have crossed the Simpson in the late 80'. At that time without encountering other travelers, being alone on the entire trip. Dalhousie Springs without fences and bathing ladder. And of course no road signs and GPS. Only Mt. Dare seems to be unchanged over the years. Great that you folks take me again on this trip! All the best from Braunschweig, Germany
Glad we could help you reminisce 😀 It certainly would have been a tough trip in the 80’s!!!
Great to see your travels are going well. I've heard Garry talk about crossing that bridge and great to see it. Love the music Heather, nice, smooth and chilled great for travelling 👌 big hugs to you both ❤
Thanks Craig! Happy travels to you and Kathy. Stay safe ❤️
Great story about your bike crossing in 74.
Glad you enjoyed it
Mum said hi ❤
Hope she’s enjoying the videos🤣❤️
Aargh the serenity ❤
Boa noite, belos vídeos, não entendo muito inglês mas leio a legenda do vídeo kkkk abraços tudo de bom
Glad you’re enjoying the videos 👍
Much better than fried Wombat 😂
Not sure what you mean??
That meal looked amazing. Have done that track a few times, always a great trip exploring the various sites along the way.
It was! We’re having a ball 👍
Lovely ep and places guys
Thanks! Appreciate your comment😀
looks like the moon to me?
Yes. It does!
You two are nowhere near that age yet, we would give you at least another 12/13 years yet and that really depends on your fitness at that age, if you are able to from a lying position on the ground to clamber to a vertical position you are still capable in my view. We are in our late seventies and are still traveling in a small truck and towing a fifth wheel van. You have to understand some seventy year olds are confined to an armchair in front of a TV, you will know when it's time to move out of the truck, you don't need someone else telling you that you're too old, keep on truckin guys.
Thanks so much for your encouragement. We plan to keep trucking for a few more years yet!😀👍
That looks like a bugger to start mate. I felt it when the handle came out of your hand. OUCH!!!!
It started better the 2nd time round 🤣
Informative as always, Sir. The fireside chat is a cool thing. Safe travels 👍👍
👍👍👍👍👍
Awesome trucks 💯🇦🇺
Thanks 👍
That's a cool vlogue 😊
Glad you liked it
Loving your videos!!
Thanks Dianne 👍
looks like a nice boat and its all very well pumping it up and setting it up, quite easy by the looks of it...but whats the deflation and pack down like? i feel it would be only good if you were in a spot for maybe a minimum of 3 or 4 days. dont get me wrong, I love what i see with this and it would totally suit my situation with my travels
Check out a later video “Stranded in the Australian Outback” At the very end you can watch the pack down. Really easy to do! If you had a few hours on the water it would be worth doing in one day 😀
What a Life!
Was the road east to Noccundra also closed? I think a lot of that is bitument or at least to the Qld border.
Yep it was closed
Hi Guys I live in the high country and have been over most of it in both 4x4 and dirt bike and I was in awe of your driving skills descending that dirt track well done. Love your adventures. Hope to be out there in our own truck one day and I will keep watching to keep us inspired to do it sooner rather than later. Paul and Jo.
Thanks so much Paul and Jo for your comment. It was challenging to say the least! 😵💫 Hope to see you on the road one day!
In 2015 I drove from Coober Pedy to mt. Dare. When the roads “opened”, I wished I would have been in a boat not a 4WD between Eringa Waterhole and Mt. Dare. Instead of a leisure 1 day drive it ended up being two days “swimming”…..
Sounds like an amazing trip!!
Saw your comment that you are near Lyndhurst, we are at Chambers Gorge then onto Arkaroola tomorrow - in a Unimog camper. Which direction are you heading?
Beautiful country. We’re heading north to Mt Dare 😀
@@teamd-tour great spot we stopped there last winter after we crossed the Simpson. We're also heading up the Oodnadatta track, you guys will likely be a few days ahead of us but will say hello if we see you!
@@GCL110 Great! Travel safe and hopefully we'll see you on the road!
It’s always good to see rain in the outback. We’ve all seen it when there has been no rain for a very long time. At least you guys are well prepared with food, & water 👍
Yes it’s amazing. The landscape is so beautiful, everything is so green. Loving it!!😀🦋
How did your trip down the Strz go Garry
We’re about 100kms out of Lyndhurst. All good 👍 a few rough spots with mud otherwise alright
@@teamd-tour thanks for that. Normal trucks get through?
Loved the last update. Recognized a lot of the roads in the video.
No problem. Just need to keep a rye out for a few washouts. Just passed a couple of caravans coming from Lyndhurst 👍
Lovely ep and set ups
👍
I noticed last week on the SARoads status every road was red. Can’t recall seeing it like that for a while. Must have been when you were caught and stopped.
Exactly 😩 Poor timing..
At least you had a good fire
Maybe try an electric outboard? Much easier to start
Hi, is it a short shaft on the motor?
Short shaft 👍
Light or med licence
Medium
AN abrahams tank would have come handy
You’re spot on there!🤣
Looks good. Do you load the boat on top of your truck by yourself? Just trying to judge how much work that would be and if one guy can handle it himself.
Thanks for your comment😀 We’ve opted for using a trailer mounted crane to put the deflated boat in its bag in the trailer along with the outboard. Check out our recent video showing modifications to our farm trailer 😀
Get a correct tow hitch for Leveleling the trailer.
We used a new Tred Hitch for off-roading 😀
G’day Gary and Heather I love you and your Tassie adventures Im😢from Tasmania and have been following your adventures. I’m currently living in America but I have to say I think your truck is a bit big for Tasmania
Great to hear from you! YES Tassie was very tight in some places for the truck. Tassie is so beautiful we didn’t want to leave 😩
Not HiLuxes calling themselves trucks 😂 Love it! Looking forward to see your next adventure.
I was watching another show where they had one of these four-wheel drives in Western Australia they said the vehicle was capable but needed more clearance. They also quoted very strongly that the fuel capacity is crap. You definitely have to carry extra jerry cans because they only have a small tank and do not have an aftermarket one to do long distance. Apparently they have a special feature so the truck can turn around on the one spot. If you find this feature please show us how it works.
Appreciate your comment 😀Yes the fuel capacity is limited. Haven’t heard about the special feature of turning around on the one spot?
Nice work on the trailer and the new Wheels! Looking forward to hearing more about both…. and the next adventure!!!!
Another great video. Keen to know more about the 4x4
Stay tuned for updates. Glad you enjoyed the video 😀
I love watching Gary work, very methodical, patient, problem solving, and fussy attention to details. Reminds me of how my late dad worked on things too! Compliments to you for creating, engineering, and constructing the trailer solution all by yourself, a mighty fine job, ably assisted by Heather. I must ask though, Gary are you able to wear safety glasses, I felt concerned for you while you were under the unit even if you were wearing what looked to be your reading glasses or maybe they are safety rated? Looking forward to your new adventures in July. 😁
Thank you so much for your lcomments. Glad you’re enjoying the channel. 😀 Heather is always on at me about wearing my safety glasses and ear protection 🤣
holala ! j'ai eu peur que le camion se renverse !! c'était "chaud" comme l'ont dit en France 🚛🚚
Hey Gary. I like the way you can swivel that hammer in your hand.... Not your first time using it!!!
Hahaha. Years of practice 😂
Can't beat a big hammer. Interesting
The bigger the doubt, the bigger the clout 🤣
Great scenery...two legends!
Thanks for your comment Dianne. Glad you're enjoying the channel
👍👍👍👍
Good on you for giving it a go
