Thought the Whitty clan were all sent to prison?
Lovely video
great
Cape Breton is a place that I would one day like to visit. My Grate Grandparents came from IRELAND and settled in Brockville, Ont
Very interesting
Greetings from Ireland. Very interesting and lovely set of films. The history of the Irish who went to North America is not really thought here in schools so thanks for uploading.
My nan was a Donavan my was grandfather was from the mightiest Highland clan in the world the macdougalls but his ma was a whitey and they all from ingonish beach cape Breton I'm a proud Canadian I love my Keltic roots
It's all so familiar to me. Near and dear.
Visited about 15 years ago - loved the locl folk, the scenery, music and had a mighty time. Really want to get back.
These people sound pretty Irish, I imagine the isolation and lack of interaction meant they retained their accents.
Even today the accents are heavy
Lol i never realized how somewhat uncommon it was to be Catholic until i moved out of Cape Breton
@Stephen Thomas not the in the half i live, around me now its all protestant and German ancestry
Try being a Presbyterian in South Bar. Our neighbors use to refer to us as black Protestants. When I was a kid I use to wonder why.
Exactly the same accent as Newfoundland.
There is no one accent from Newfoundland just like there is no one accent from Ireland. Also these accents actually sound much more Irish then Newfoundland accents.
If you are from away it may sound the same but the Cape Breton and Newfoundland accents are different.
@@brianf9615 This sounds the same as some of the old regional Newfoundland accents.
@@patriciakeats1621 Ask any Cape Bretoner or Newfoundlander if the accent is the same and I'm sure they will tell you they are different.
@@brianf9615 I’m from Newfoundland. I know how our old people used to sound nearly 50 years ago.
I lived in nova Scotia for 6 years. Nice humble ppl missed those nice old ppl with heavy Cape bretoner accent😁
Capers got an accent, ya don’t say bi I guess ya learn somtin new everyday, eh?

I was feeling a little home sick this made me feel better Irish man in Nova Scotia
Proud to be an Irish Maritimer. Teachfaid at la.
This video stalls at 10:13. Tried several times to get it to play all the way through, but it stalls at 10:13. Regrets.
Dear Sirs, The project is very interesting! Could you write a little description of this video? I am trying to develop a greenroof at the University of Porto (Portugal). Luís Calafate
Lovely & informative video exploring some of the issues, areas & people of the east coast shorelines. It is a beautiful area of our country and is now seemingly under pressure from over-exploitation of its resources, from many fronts, a few of them looked at here. Not a unique situation in our world, but this document covers elements unique to the area. Filmmaker has shown sensitivity with the subjects and centred an obviously collaborative process.
