Quiet right mate, the fish would have to exert sufficient pressure to trigger it and it could only do that with the bait firmly inside its mouth-which means the fish was hooked without the twig. Now if the twig triggered when the fish picked up the baited hook, without moving off, that really would be a game changer. But as it stands, you could get the same effect by adding a section of strong elastic to the rig and when the fish tries to let go, the tension from the elastic would set the hook.
If I were a UK fishery owner, I would not only ban this death trap from my waters, I would also ban Hamidi from fishing on the water for introducing such an item to the angling world. He’s not driven by his love/passion for the sport, he’s purely driven by £££’s/profiteering. I would love to hear what Chris Yates would say about this product?🤔🎣
Hi Kenny, I too had a thought of what Mr Yates would say on it! If I remember correctly Chris was not keen on the hair rig when it first hit the seen, along with a few others he called it cheating! - now it's a standard rig for most species. However, this is something totally different and unless the design is changed I can't see it lasting. Regards Ian
@@topBrandzBAITCheers for the reply. I’ll wager there’s quite a few traditional/true/passionate anglers out there that are wondering/concerned about the direction our sport is heading in. My aspect is, the most important thing in angling (apart from fishing on ‘carp puddles’) is watercraft?! Doesn’t really matter what ‘innovative??’ tackle items you are using, if your bait isn’t where the fish are you simply won’t catch. This is the most important thing I’ve learnt in my 60+ yrs of angling, and the most pleasurable aspect of our wonderful hobby.👍🏻🎣 Once again, thanks for taking your time to reply - Tight Lines🎣
If it really catches anything while playing fish, this Arms will brake off and the twig is done. I see that. But it won't be able to snag you to the braking strength of the kit, even a light one. Everyone who is concerned about the ethical impact, i mean come on, then stay all night up sitting behind rods, no electronics just rod tip bite indication. Carp fishing is by no means an ethical sport guys, i say that confidently after 25 years of carp fishing. I know pressured fish that give you all sorts of funny bites. If it just solves this events, it is all day worth a tenner. To be honest i was expecting much more expensive, if you just take a look at the money you spend for gear, i will give it a try before hating on it.
Hi mate, thanks for your thoughts. I didn't say that it might not work, just the snag issue was a worry for me. I'm not against innovative thinking, but I'm going to sound like a hypocrite now as I have used it once - on a family holiday in France. I managed to sneak in a 24hr session on a 100 acre sandpit north of Limoges. The lake is virtually snag free and reasonably well stocked. I was lucky to have 3 takes during the session, one on the Twig and the other two on a standard rig. The take I had on the Twig was in fact a 35lb Sturgeon. As you know they fight a fair bit, after netting it the fish was thrashing around in the net, luckily I managed to unhook it fairly easily. However, the Twig arms were completely bent back and caught up in the net, thankfully the fish had no mouth damage. The arms don't break easily at all, but they do bend and snag easily in a landing net. So, my initial thoughts of it being a problem in landing nets (let alone weed, snags etc) were well founded. Like I said in the video it needs to be totally enclosed in my opinion, until that is the case I will not be using it. Regards Ian
so you just started a youtube channel to complain about a product? And even post the same thing twice - you were not the smart in your class either were you?... Don't use it if you don't think its worth your time. Seriously mate - Spend your time better than this. It at least gave you 8 subscribers though - job well done mate. That's an hour of your time you will never get back.
I bought one yesterday just to see it.... absolute disgraceful monstrosity... it’s not just the snagging risk once the arms open ( very high), nor the fact that it’s about as close to angling as spear fishing, but it appears that a fish needs to actually tug it quite hard to set it off in the first place! ( completely defeating the point of having a rig for ultra shy fish. ) I quite like AH but I’m afraid he’s lost the plot on this one
These various rigs I see being used in the UK are quite interesting. Is it that the fish are overpressured and or the anglers enjoy fiddling with complicated contraptions in their spare time? The rigs used here are mostly quite simple, I enjoy catching much more than making rigs, maybe there’s more fish here to be had. I have a book filled with rigs used in Europe and the UK, maybe I’ll experiment a little and see what the fuss is about.
Anything Hamidi has to do with is bound to be chronic!!! Not a brain cell in his head.... and can't catch a single fish himself, has to let the tackle do it and then just wind it in....
Hard to believe that this was brought to the market from someone as high profile as Ali all those years banging on about fish care and fish safety and he released this 😅
what about half the idiots that have no idear how to tye a rig or sat on the bank pist or drugged up isn't that fish care im sure ali knows what hes doing trying to make a living like anybody else would don't say you wouldn't
I can't understand how an angler of ali amidi experience can't see the dangers in this product , imagine a carp trailing that and swimming through snags , he even cried about it .😢
@@rich4738 Absolutely. he thought he was going to be the face of modern carp angling and clearly couldn't see past the money symbols in his eyes. I cant help but feel bad for him he was so happy he was in tears of joy and that moment has now been destroyed for him due to the product being a massive flop with all sorts of issues. Going from tears of joy to tears of sadness after learning that most fisheries have since banned them already :( How him and his team didn't test for these kinds of issues is beyond me
I would definitely ban this obscenity! It serves to take money out of fishermen's pockets. It is a death sentence for fish if they get stuck on dirt in the lake. On some waters, the barb hook or lead line is prohibited, and then they sell such a killer thing. Incomprehensible!!! Karol from Slovakia
On another video one guy tied the stick on backwards and pulled in loads weed. Which the fish would drag behind him. And the arms dont snap off just bend back.
Well done mate , I find it appalling more top carp anglers have not condemned it but all just saying what a nice bloke Ali is , if ever a product should sound the death knell on a company this is it
I understand you frustration, however I think when they reference Ali being a nice bloke actually speaks volumes. Ali is clearly out of his depth with his new role & this has greatly damaged his reputation & the company. As everybody is pointing out this is clearly a dangerous rig and is gong to get banned. Not sure how Ali can have any credibility moving forward especially regarding fish welfare.
Ali is not the designer or technical man these are the people who are accountable for this nightmare.Hes a salesman and good at it.The only thing I have used from omc which is better than other companies is the putty. Too far to soon for a start up company and it's going to cost them.
Ali is the CEO therefore responsible for everything. Hence the comment he is out of his depth. For what it’s worth I think watching the videos he’s got caught up in the whole euphoria of it all.
So many rigs over the last 10 years in the carp scene and they all catch... so why the need for another one that's blatantly a death rig. Inline leads are the safest option I feel for a carp safe rig. Safety clips work well if the tail rubber isn't wedged on them. As for this magic twig well them arms are definitely going to snag your quarry up if you happen to snap up. I won't be using them that's for sure.
It’s a piss take that tackle shops are even selling them to be fair . And not only that you don’t even need somthing like this if you truly have a back of the mouth bait which no bait company does because of exspence . But when people do , then the fish will eat the bait / hook irrespective . Bait research all day long instead of cheating a true bite
I bought something similar out of Exchange and Mart in the seventies, admittedly this is more refined and made better but it still never caught me ANYTHING .

If a fish were to snap your line This would be like a fish dragging round an anchor. I can't believe this product was even released.

Ban this simple as
If an angler that cant catch fish with out using a self hooking rig's, is not an angler but a trapper.
There is no need for it to exist.. It's pointless.
“Tragic Twig”
More rubbish from a breadhead. If you have your rig sorted and balanced, why would you need this abomination.

Lily pads and thick Canadian would be deadly to a tethered fish. They need the arms to snap of under pressure
Totally agree but that then breaks the product. So its going to cost you a fiver everytime.Just no need for this product more hassle than its worth.

The fish will end up dragging weed, guarantee this is taken off sale before Christmas
How does this catch fish
I bought something similar out of Exchange and Mart in the seventies, admittedly this is more refined and made better but it still never caught me ANYTHING .
Nash trigger link will do for now.
The magic twig now called the "crucifix"
Not for me , death rig
Gimmick and trash
I think it could be much better designed. A rush product thats being banned all over the place.
It's a new death rig.
Pivot points on both stems would work so they could lay flat to the body of the twig , not for me I’m afraid
Yeh maybe, think he's rushed to get it out there, can't imagine he was naive enough to think that the arms sticking out would not be a snag issue?!!
Give it a rest the people that buy it will decide
