@@DocWhoPod I personally always give everything a 3 episode rule myself to test the waters! If you enjoy the pure historicals, I’d give it a go. A lot of conflict within the story is driven by societal rules of the upper class, like Emily’s spat with the chap that Ruby is spying on or the first bird guy viciously defending his sister’s virtue. That’s almost literally lifted from the first season. There’s also an anonymous figure called Lady Whistledown publishing gossip papers to the town adding extra chaos to the proceedings. I think the music gimmick at the time was to endear an audience that might not be reading Austen or Bronte novels into this world, but now they’re in the 3rd season it’s not as intrusive (besides the wild choice to use a Pitbull song) Either way, worth skimming the first season just as a cute parallel to this episode! Love your work as always chaps 💖

Okay, I actually disagree with Eaters of Light and Nightmare but facts on the other two! (Fear Her potentially being the worst episode of Doctor Who since its revival) Still had fun with Rogue! Just thought it was a bit meh

Totally agree with the whole fantasy thing. Doctor Who is best when it’s Science fiction and there’s a logical explanation to the solution (as logical as science fiction can be). It rewards you when you try working out how something will be resolved - think almost Sherlock or a whodunnit We like the idea that a paradox was caused by Ruby preventing the Prime Minister taking control of the nukes. As when the loop resets at the end, the doctor still mentions it, presumably making it a fixed point. Therefore by Ruby going back as an old lady at the end and stopping the doctor breaking the fairy circle (which begins the chain of events that lead Ruby to stopping the PM) she breaks the paradox and the whole episode is negated - which I’m fine with because it was a good episode

🤣🤣 love this analogy! He’s a bit hit and miss since his return, but we’re growing on it with every episode

@@DocWhoPod "Hit and miss" is an incredibly generous way to describe it. Everything about this season has been terrible, starting with how the Doctor is written. So much so, that the only way to salvage it would be a scene where the Doctor is enjoying a pear.

@@DocWhoPod the stories haven’t lived up to expectations, only decent one was ‘boom’ The latest one was great but nothing was explained.. very lazy story telling. The doctor himself is my least favourite so far
