Peter developed this integrated mind - body - spirit path while questing to make an Olympic team in track and field.
Along the way he was coached and mentored by the likes of Bill Bowerman, iconic head track coach at the University of Oregon and inventor of the Nike shoe, 4 x powerlifting world champion Don Cundy, Ralph Kroger, Mr America body builder and masters in breath work and meditation.
The end result of the gifts of his teachers and his own self discovery was making 2 Olympics teams.
After his Olympic career, this road map to reaching higher levels of physical potential evolved into a way to live in your body and life in a most powerfully integrated way.
Peter's mantra is 'Do Less Be More' in all we do, take good care of ourselves and enjoy with gratitude what we have today.

The Complete Full body Dumbbell Workout for Fall
Thanks
Great exercises thanks 👍👍👍
I'm currently on a weightloss journey and the video really inspired me. Thank you so much!!
You have a subscriber!
Very valuable information. Great contribution…TY.
Awesome thanks. Is this okay for anterior pelvic tilt? And are there any specific exercises you'd recommend for correcting APT? Thanks again!
I love you
I'm watching this video in 2024😅
Thank you for this video!! I came here stuck in a rabbit hole of researching for a story i am trying to write, attempting to calculate the time that characters could climb a great height of stairs; i needed to see what 1 vs 2 steps per second looked like! Thank you, this helps, even though it likely wasn't the intended purpose of making the video! Thank you! =]
I Will Try The First One. In “ War Room” The Lady Said They Say You Live Linger If You Live In A House With Stairs”.
👍
Great Tips
Another way to challenge yourself is to carrying weight upstairs as well.
This guy does not know what he is doing
This guy is in an incredible shape
I'm going to hike a 4km high mountain which has lots of stairs, desperately looking for less tiring ways to climb stairs ....
Thanks Peter. Merry Christmas ⛄ and I am a new subscriber.
hi
Sadly, too many people are consuming/being distracted rather than enjoying/being creative
I really appreciate this. Got a weak hip and need to bring it back to life. Going to try your suggestions. Thanks!
Steps are such a great form of exercise. I have been running steps for nearly 30 years and wouldn't be without it. Just filmed some last week and can feel the benefit in leg power immediately.
This was great and really important to go for only five or ten minutes when starting out and as you get into a regular routine of stair climbing two or three times a week go longer adding a few minutes longer until you can do 30 minutes..I jump rope on the other days.
I do wrk ..and bit lazy too..so i use to walk 1st floor to 9th floor 2 tyms after lunch..I wanted sm variation..thank it will help.. 🙏👍
These exercises can also be used as a general body warmup. I'm going to use these for my clients. Thanks for sharing :)
e = mgh, that comes to burning as much calories as your own bodyweight on climbing and coming down 14 storeys, considering floor to ceiling height to be 9.5 feet with 6" slab. If your weight is 70 kg and you reside on floor 14, each time you down to ground and come up again, you burn 70 calories. It's simple physics, and simple way to build stamina and endurance plus lose weight.
Thanks for the Vid , im overweight but I like to use stairs. Time to train more.
best Exercises for weight loose between Running and Stairs Climbing ?
1:56 old guy: fk dat, ima walk _around_ them stairs...
Why haven't you uploaded recently?
Great
Reminds me of Phil Dunphy
Thanks for the information
I have a second job which requires walking lots of stairs so I want to utilize these stairs and benefit from them they are very steep thanks for the tips
Outstanding! My shoulders have feeling much better after this, especially considering I had frozen shoulders two years ago. One thought: Do you have a loosening routine for knees that's similar? The closest I see in your videos are stair walking exercises. Cheers, Toney
Thanks!
thank you
OMG! ppls climbing 24, 40 flloors each day. I thought Im doing hard by climbing 7 floor a day😂
lol
😂
Peter: if you haven’t exercised in a long time. how do you start ? time ? reps ? Etc
Again, I must say THANK YOU for your two stair climbing vids. I started your once or twice a week stairs training...at 140kg and 63 years old. 75 steps/ 4 sets with rest in between. I feel 10 years younger already!
You run or climb steps sir?
First move to the 20th floor. Then try carrying a senior 20 pound dog with a weak bladder up and down 20 floors, 4 times a day during a pandemic because a pipe broke and ruined the elevators. No parts, no technicians! Remember to wear a mask, the stairs are busy! Do this for four weeks. Also carry groceries up. Great way to get fit at 60.
Jeff Ament is an awesome artist/photographer/ musician.Pearl Jam upholds its reputation of excellence in all domains and the leadership of "Captain Loveboat" has incredible merits. The icing on the cake is the addition of the keyboardist.Fabulous guitarists and drummer extraordinaire "Matt Cameron "
Had a ton of fun with this one!! I felt sweaty and definitely felt my heart working more which is great! Thank you!
Thank you Peter!
Absolutely Sof Sof . Thanks for watching. Keep moving and pls subscribe if you haven't ' already
Am going to ride my bike at lunch. Always fun!
GOOD one. totally agree....even tho the temp is dropppppping
Hi, before covid, there was a subway station near me where everyone would sprint up the stairs to catch the bus. There weren't a lot of stairs, but I've seen people go up stairs 4 - 5 steps at a time, and people descending two at a time. Are there other people with subway stations like this? Are there communities of people who do this?
Seems like the perfect thing to do during covid
I do about forty minutes of stairwalking but I mostly go at an easy pace. I do this every other day.
good for you. Very amount with your energy and youre good to go for life
peter, i'm 90 and just starting. i have balance problems but give me a suggestion as to how many stairs should be my goals to start out? Tonychan1661@mail.com Im in Monterey cal ,oh, and this would be in my house until; I can locate a tall building which are rare in Monterey and Carmel. The best to you. tony
Tony , First , thanks for watching my video. I use time as a quantitative measurement vs how many steps. Start with the ridiculous - 5 min - total time - up + down. Go slow. Do more than that and you'll be quite sore. Calves , glutes and quads. Not the Life Athlete way ! build to max of 30 min over 6 - 8 weeks. Could be 15 min and you're still benefiting. 2 x week is enough. Find outdoors steps. Dont waste the beauty of your local going indoors. explore different stair locations and rotate - keep it fresh. More ? contact me at peter@lifeathlete.com
Thanks, Peter! I love these complete workouts, especially with no equipment!
Hey Alex, always great to hear from you. Thanks ! So glad you're enjoying the workouts . More to come ..... anddddd come September Complete Quarterly workouts packages will be available on my website. 2 workouts videos, zoom group workouts bi weekly ( recorded for later viewing ), phone consults w me ++. Stay tuned. Thanks for replying - be well and take care.
The two step method walking up without moving laterally seems to be the most biomechanically efficient method of climbing stairs. Running wastes too much energy just moving your limbs and you will fatigue much faster. Doing single steps also wastes more energy per step to move your limbs. The more steps you take at once, the more of your energy gets used to actually lift your own weight upward. Of course at some point your flexibility begins to limit how far you can swing your leg forward, and the energy consumed per step actually begins to increase. The sweet spot might be two to three steps at a time depending on your flexibility. Efficiency probably only matters if you are concerned with maximizing your sustained rate of climb. For example, in a stair race. If you just want an effective stair workout and don't care about how fast you're climbing, then efficiency isn't that big of a concern.
good ideas John. Lots of options to choose from. Appreciate the feedback
I totally agree with you. I actually climb with a heavy back pack and 5 kg ankle weights on each leg to also work during the "lift off motion" but when loaded with weight, any lateral or twisting motion is risky on the old knees.
Just did these exercises - kicked my butt but great movements. Will be doing these regularly. Many thanks for sharing Peter
Hey Bryan, thanks for letting me know. Yeah - those moves can be butt kickers for sure. Ever upwards
