Hey, everybody!
Please enjoy my videos on ancient Indian, Greek & Chinese philosophy, modern times, ethics, logic and the history of human thought. I have particular theories about the history of logic, the role of basic feelings in semantics, truth and meaning, and the detective stories of Edgar Allan Poe, the Wonderlands of Lewis Carroll, and the thought experiments of Wittgenstein. I also have a fictional series, Itsy & The Infinite Web, about a spider who explores an elephant, talking to various creatures about their jobs and perspectives.
Feel free to comment, and let me know what you think, about thought and my thinking, and visit my website (ericgerlach.com) for the lecture notes and assignments I use with the philosophy videos to teach, as well as my latest posts.
Much happiness, and here's to a wider view of the history of thought and all inter-tangled forms of living!

I think the justice/unjustice couple has to do with the chain of causality
Hello???
Beautifully explained
Beautiful. The final concluding sentences in the monologue are very inspiring and hopeful.
I just want to watch a mesoamerican history video without having to see endless racist comments. You already see enough of the with white Nationalists wetting their pants all over the comment sections under European history videos... its rather annoying.
Pre Socratic philosophers proved the Trinity lol Anaxagoras said that the Universe is designed by all intelligent mind. Heraclitus said that Logos is the ruler, origin and the source of the world. And Anaximenes said that the Air is gave life to all living things. In Christianity the Father is the Designer and He made the world through His Logos (Jesus Christ) and is the Ruler of all creations and His Holy Spirit that gave life to every living creature.
Fantastic

One mistake, there is no o point for a photo. The settings are made by the creators of a camera and the background is created by architects. The art is to use settings to create more humaness and less plasticity in a photo. For that you need K owledge og photographers choices and film makers settings. Which most clearly do not.
Well talked great energy on the subject
Nice attempt, but you talked about yin yang in relation to western philosophy more so than yin yang itself. Would be nice to learn more about the Chinese perspective on the concept
Take these down please ....
I prefer Gwoyeu Romatzyh, Wade-Giles and Postal Romanisation over Hanyu Pinyin and Latinxua Sinwenz.
Thanks mate, I'm especially interested in the term 'Rest in utmost goodness' that I think appears in the Great Learning

BCE... Freakin, REALLY... You turned me of right out of your PC chute. Which doesn't mean I din't like your presentation.
Sure, until the pockets of non-dominant little narratives are coalesced by Capital and become "the message." All those little narratives sure do seem pretty dominant when all major corporations, Western governments, media and entertainment companies, educational institutions, and so on, all insist upon agreement with them. "That's just because they know they're true, that's all!" Oh really? So truth exists now, does it?
Wonderful presentation. Glad I found your channel, I'll be watching your stuff for some time, I believe, though I'm not entirely sure what any of this means.
Awesome video dude
I believe male homosexuality in Roman times was fine if you were the "top", the "bottom" was seen as weak and a bit disgraceful/un-natural, unless you were the bona fide love interest of a really big Kahuna. Lesbianism was all fine, what with most women being seen basically as leaning towards cray-cray before the 1950s or so CE.
Looks like you are Pyrrho himself
The Odd and The Usual.
I've never met you but i think i love you already
love your interpretation of "realizing delusion through delusion." Thanks.
great in depth lecture
dude you did a great job
It seems to me that in minds of Eurocentrists there's always conflict between how things truly are and how they wish things should be. Eurocentrists believe that non-europeans are just mindless savages which is not true at all. Eurocentrism became a bad habit that is not easy to unlearn. It was promoted to justify colonization and atrocities commited on natives to make themselves feel less guilty.
Nice
I’m a current philosophy major and your videos have been a fantastic resource! Thank you!!!
Nice video
This guy's meandering is getting as difficult to follow as the short story itself; that tale is actually my LEAST favorite of the C.Auguste Dupin series, which are ALL sort of strange.
I just read this story and now feel like rereading it with this new insight.
All things in moderation, including moderation. Oscar Wilde
I think I found my new favourite channel! 👍 Thanks for the awesome video!
You do such beautiful work, thank you for this lecture.
Really great video. I was looking for a longer vid but you got so much good info it’s better than I imagined
What a Madlad Chad
Are these not the real values and teachings of all philosophy? To think for ourselves, To think critically, and To think outside the box. Of course, some philosopher comes along and tells us what he thinks is true, or meaningful, or valuable, or real, and sometimes he even tries to prove -- or, at least justify -- his position. But the underlying premise of all philosophy is always for us to question what we are told by philosophers -- or, by anyone else, for that matter !
Thinking for oneself is essential to becoming a mature and independent adult. However, all this talk about creating one's own truth and values must be put into context. There is only one truth -- not many ! Of course, I am guessing what Nietzsche means is that we must not simply accept what others tell us is the truth, without trying to find-out the truth for ourselves. As for values, again, one cannot simply create values anymore than one can create truth. You can certainly decide what values are important to you, and which are not. For example, most people value wealth, power, and prestige. You might decide for yourself that there are other values that are more important -- such as love, faith, and friendship, for example. But, whatever you decide, you are not actually creating new values -- or bringing new values into the world. If there is really a meaningful message in what Nietzsche is saying, then it must be simply for us to always think for ourselves. Of course, Socrates taught the same thing, although in a somewhat different way.
Pinyin honestly makes no sense, it only makes sense if you are chinese I supose, otherwise it makes no sense how they write "He" but pronounce "Huh"
