1989 Airstream- Ford E350 - 460 7.5L - Cat removal test drive - LOUD
มุมมอง 2774 ปีที่แล้ว
Coming home from our weekend camp trip last week, our 1989 E-350 with the 460 motor wouldn't budge over 25-30 mph and seemed really constricted, lean and like it was lnt getting any fuel. Low and behold, our catalytic converter was plugged. Some friends and I removed it and the honeycomb was broken and sure enough it was clogged. I took it out for a spin before we replaced it and put it back to...

Nice car,a real car!!!!!!
MR LIAM YOUR A WISE MAN PURCHASE A GREAT VEHICLE 1995 LINCOLN TOWNCAR CARTIER I HAD A 1992 SIGNATURE SERIES BEST DRIVING EXPERIENCE 4.6 LITER ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION FAST ACCELERATION HANDLES WELL ON STREETS ROADS AND HIGHWAYS 🛣 CHANGE AIR RIDE TO SHOCKS FORD MOTOR COMPANY NEEDS TO BRING BACK TOWNCAR IT MADE LINCOLN A BETTER DIVISION OF AMERICAN LUXURY VEHICLES
It's a nice car
Honestly I've heard a lot newer cars handle a cold start a LOT worse than that. 😏
@@RdesignedSteve she fired right up!
@Land-Yacht I can't count the number of times I've seen some Nissan or Volkswagen or even some older Toyotas that would have struggled at that temp. that's C-O-L-D.
Man, I remember driving these things, the trunk is HUGE! You can easily fit 6-7 people in there, and the Border Patrol won't even stop you because they're looking for trucks, not sedans.
Easy starting. 👍🏾 For this weather. My 1994 Dodge Intrepid 3,3 startin' from first attempt last winter with -33 Cels. After 9 days without driving. Battery - Bosch, 6 years old. Hallo from Russia 🐻❄️
Beautiful car
U bought 1995 model car..what mileage it gives to u..and ur location bro..
@@vishalbhanot1021Yes it's a 1995 Lincoln Town Car. It has 187,000 miles on it, gas mileage is about 24mpg
Located in Southeast Idaho
@Land-Yacht y wud u buy 95 model sir..I just bought 2012 model SUV..I hv starting problem in winters..how do u manage daily..cause once u start a vehicle that doesnt mean it will start again after 3 days also if u dont drive daily..
@@vishalbhanot1021 it is not my daily driver. I just like larger older cars. It started fine in minus 35, as long as they are well maintained, they should do fine.
@Land-Yacht yup
Very well manteined , as a legend car deserves
Very smooth Bronco, for an emotional drive experience 🤩
do a POV test drive! It's gonna be great to see it on the snow road!
Fantastic old american model cars 😍
@@488gte3 thanks! Check out some of my other videos for Older Lincolns and Oldsmobile. Appreciate the feedback!
COOL! What did you do with the 78?
@@creatorwatch532 Thanks! I sold the '78 to a friend down the street, so I still get to enjoy it's presence and continue to see it being driven in good hands.
Beautiful car! I had a 97 Cartier once upon a time and wish I could find another Town Car of the 95-97 flavor but they are hard to come by in decent shape. Great find! And yes, a nice set of narrow whitewalls would look great! I have Travel stars on my 2006 Signature Limited and love them.
@@kevindoxey awesome. I am also going to go with the thinner Travel Star tires. This should be a fun summer cruiser, I plan to tinker o it here and there to keep it moving to the 200k mile mark 😎
Nice car
@@BrianThurow-b7u thanks!
With Lincoln‘s, especially the Marks and the 460s instead of pumping the gas pedal you’re supposed to hold it all the way to the floor and then turn the key slowly and crank it on as you’re coming up off the gas pedal. It’ll start right up every time.
Nice truck
just pump one time and make sure your battery is ok,because it sounds a litle down on power.👍
How many and how much can you wrenche and put in time can you fix out of these issues much st be. address by the dealership can you bring that Lincoln mark v by the shop I'll buy it off y ou
@@MarioMyers-r8k I sold this over the summer.
We had a 1992 same model when I was driving school bus. Our company bought it second hand as a spare. The other drivers hated getting it, but us old timers would drive it if our busses were in the shop.
I wish the world was more like in this vid. Almost everywhere classic cars or just older models. Like as if someone would combine the 70’s 80’s 90’s and the 00’s together
Love the American cars. From the 1940’s till the early 00’s
Check the glove box baby is it around 29,000 miles on it.is this United cab Lincoln
You got yourself a nice car. Considering it has close to 120k and it was so cold out I though it started up pretty darn good. Do you self a favor get rid of the catalytic converter. I did that to my 78 Olds 88. You will notice a big difference in power.
I've since sold the Lincoln to a friend, but that is exactly what the new owner did. True duals with no cats and it pepped it up really well! Onto my next Land Yacht search.
@@Land-Yacht I wish you the best of luck with your new car, can't wait to see it. Isn't amazing how constricting and power robbing those pollution controls were. I all ran true duels with stock mufflers and resonators.
The problem with these cars is most parking spots aren’t big enough to fit this car today.
You have to take two spaces and dock it so when you leave all you have to do is put the tranny in drive to go. Backing up can be a chore. There is a blind spot in the right rear. I know someone who had one of these, and backed it into a Japanese car. The Lincoln had no damage but the other car ended up being totalled by the insurance company. The gas mileage was another issue. The Lincoln could not go past a gas station without stopping for fuel.
I have the same car, sadly missing few spare parts and dont know where to get em from
I had luck with some junkyards and Facebook groups in finding some small trim pieces, etc.
My parents bought a '72 Custom Cruiser new. It was medium blue. My mother drove school carpool with it for 8 years. It was a great car! A total beast with that 455 V8. Mom got an Eldorado in '80, but we kept the wagon for another couple of years. It was sad to see it go. I wish I had it back today!
A beautiful machine
This video was very educational. Enjoyed watching it.
I respectfully disagree with the mileage. I think it could be a 20,000 mile vehicle. The pedals, especially the brake, don't indicate over 100,000 miles. And the drivers door armrest isn't worn badly. Also, the engine is clean, and the valve covers aren't sweating. The engine sounds like a 20,000 mile engine.
The old Station Wagons were the best & most practical vehicles in their time. They rode like Limos & they had payloads like 1/2 ton pickups with RWD & great towing capacity. The Olds Vista Cruiser & the Buick Estate Wagons with the 455's were the ultimate Wagons in luxury also. These new SUV's are a joke in comparison. The Station Wagons were better in every way except for gas mileage.
What a great car! Love these old wagons ❤
Love these old wagons. They’ll run until the end of time if you take care of them. Real die-hards those 455s are.
I ❤ like american cars from 60'ies to 70'ies. They were still cool until 2000. Recently, i watched a CADILLAC from end 90. I said " WOW" !
Did you sell it ? I’ll buy any 71 to 76 full size gm cars I can get.
LMFAO DID YOU SET THE CLOCK TO 4:20. I did that too mine 😂
Good job, you got 'em working. I didn't have my '73 Estate Wagon long enough to have a problem. It was a 2 seater and had the manual tailgate. Liked that car a lot.
I love these so much, I'd always take them over anything else, but really, this is why Japanese cars took America by storm in the 70's and American automakers had a recession lol. Don't get me wrong, I'd take this Lincoln any day of the week over a Toyota or Honda of the same era. I can appreciate all types of cars being desirable in their own ways but it'll always be a 4900lbs boat anchor that sits in 2 zip codes with a V8 that rivals some small buildings in capacity but gets the horsepower of a vacuum cleaner for me. The flaws of these cars add to them in my opinion. You get to know them personally. You know just what to tap to make this work, you learn how to adjust that to make it work better. You learn how they tick. I had one, I miss it every day but it was in rough shape when I had it.
These clamshell wagons have become like unicorns, the Oldsmobiles are a real beautiful car, probably my favorite for sure
You're right. Someone's going to get a really great car!
These aren't hard to fix. The sheetmetal looks in good condition, can get the missing trim from junked ones and the front end is the same as the Delta 88 and 98 Regency from the same year. Very nice and a rare sight today. Could join ASWOA with it and take it to their shows.
Nice car. New plugs and dual exhaust will perk the 460 right up. Good call on the straight up timing. That’s something I have done a number of times as well. She’s a beaut!
“Give her one extra pump.” Giggity 😂
This brought back a flood of memories. My dad had a 71 custom cruiser. Was a wonderful car
Awesome!
The front facing rear bench kinda caught me by surprise
That's a sweet car. Hang on to her, That even has the electric clamshell rear hatch.
Worked for Oldsmobile from 63 to 75 great car love the tail gate 455 v8 great engine keep it done sell it you will always love it
I like it man
