    Everything falls on deaf ears in Woodstock, or it not my problem send them to a different department. And nothing gets done.

    Deb is sure quick to offer her opinions on issues but never clarifies what her solutions mean. "A hand up"? I assume what Deb really means is "put anyone I don't like or agree with in work camps. Especially the homeless.". After all, she would rather they all wear "badges", so us common folk can "identify them".

    Deb Tait is hoping we can starve out homelessness. “Hand ups not hand outs” I mean I guess technically… if you are dead because you died from a preventable ailment like dehydration, starvation, hypothermia, or heat stroke or the like… you aren’t homeless anymore. All because she can’t follow in daddy’s footsteps of locking them all up.

    I very much appreciate Mayor Birtch's comments toward the end of the meeting calling for all citizens of Woodstock to remain kind and respectful of one another regardless of their private medical status. He exemplifies excellent leadership and clearly respects the rights of everyone. So it was with disbelief when I saw our elected officials leave the meeting during his final address! Watch his address and these councillors actions at the 1 hour, 18-minute mark. This rude behaviour is unacceptable for an elected official and I believe our mayor is owed an apology by those who abruptly left: beginning with Sandra Talbot, followed by Deb Tait, Todd Poetter, and Connie Lauder. This is an embarrassment for our city!!

    We need more intelligent, thoughtful leaders like Trevor B. They are very rare in today's day and age. I do not care what party he is affiliated with but I support him.

    Well, the province is requiring a policy so give them a policy that says, if you decide you want it, get it. If you don't want it, don't get it. It is a private matter between you and your doctor, and no one else. Businesses are to create a vaccine policy that says, in accordance with OSHA requirements, your vaccination decision is between you and your doctor. The End. Can you please replicate yourself and come to my town?

    • @elilla331
      @elilla331 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We can't trust our doctors in Ontario anymore. They were told earlier this year that they must toe the government line on these shots or the College of Physicians and Surgeons will investigate them and possibly revoke their right to practice.

    Well Mayor, you kicked a bunch of assholes in the junk after the previous mayor and council sold WPC to Hydro One. Now you're doing it again, good on you. And while I don't live in Oxford anymore, or Woodstock(though I grew up near Southside Park), it sounds like the city is good to have you. But, I'll be frank, from what I hear from my parents the city is starting to have a serious homeless and in turn drug problem. There's areas that they now feel unsafe in as well, I remember how bad James St. and the area up around Springbank/Cree were for a time too. Get a handle on it.

    It's so refreshing to hear this statement from our mayor! Thank you for standing up for individuals' right to choose their medical treatments. I wish there were more politicians who would speak up and defend our rights and freedoms. Thank you mayor Birtch!

    You didn't look into to much. Kids and cars have been hit at this corner for lack of sight. Also you didn't check how busy it gets on weekends at this corner with family's walking to the park, because no one works on weekends. (566 Henry st)

    There are a lot of sunshine earners involved in solutions while advocates with solutions are willing to volunteer their time to advance solutions. The council should be reaching out to tap that resource.

    Poverty is costing this municipality hundreds of millions and with it the cost of theft, damage to property, needles gathering on the streets, and a host of other social issues.

    Councillor Acchione. spot-on in suggesting apartments in homes, tiny homes in back yards. , there are solutions. I feel the frustration in your voice. Thankyou for giving voice to solutions.

    Stop blaming these councilors for homelessness. Look in the mirror for that blaime

  • @algarland1947

    Safe injection sites save lives. Why is London the closest there is? Has the Homeless support system ever been vetted for its truth? I cut my teeth on homelessness in Downtown Toronto and I was utterly shocked by the scheming, theft, and inhumane treatment of those celebrated for their contribution to the homeless community.

    Have any of the Privileged here been out to meet the Homeless? Mayor Birtch, I commend you for doing so.

  • @algarland1947

    The language of some of these councilors is disgraceful. Tait to say they don't have the tools couldn't be more disrespectful. They simply aren't in the cognitive space at the time to make the journey out that so many addicts have already made. You need to make a formal apology for that insult.

  • @algarland1947
    @algarland1947 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Also Fact! Some of us treat our dogs better than the majority of voters in this county treat our most vulnerable.

  • @algarland1947
    @algarland1947 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    This voting district is Blue to the bone and has been for decades. You support billions in Corporate Welfare in the way of cuts & subsidies but refuse some Ontarians their human rights! Shame on you! I've never voted Liberal or conservative in my lifetime because violating another Human being's Human rights is a non-starter.

  • @algarland1947
    @algarland1947 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Stop blaming politicians, they get one vote just like you, they don't elect themselves. You vote them in, you set the priority that gets that vote. You are slammed 2.5 million Ontarians further down the poverty spectrum! Was this intentional or done in Ignorance? Ignorance was bliss until it voted.

  • @algarland1947
    @algarland1947 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    This comes as no surprise to those of us to whom poverty matters. Everyone says poverty matters but that Hypocrisy is laid bare in their vote. Ever vote for the Liberal & Con party is a vote to perpetuate the violation of another Canadian's Human Rights. That is also just a fact!

    Was this bylaw only made for this council position having to be filled? Certainly there had to already be a policy for if a councillor needed to be replaced for any reason at all. I know I spoke with my parent that said for as long as they lived here it used to be the runner up that takes the place of a vacant seat?
