    Pull forces you to have a good D loop or firing position, and extra body lateral movement for relax casting. However, try doing Pull method on 60 to 80 feet heads. Horses for courses guys.

    I’ve been using a two handed rod now for several years exclusively Skagit lines but recently started moving to Scandi for trout Spey and your video has been great in helping me visualize my casting technique with floating heads and lesser weighted sink tips in the scandi style . Thanks for the video

    How does “body length” effect the shooting head? 🤔

    • @scandinavianflylines4153
      @scandinavianflylines4153 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for question, for a beginner and intermediate caster, a suitable lenght of the shooting head is helping the caster to handle the anchor point. if the shooting head is too long, it is hard to anchor the line at the correct point/place and it is harder to perform a good forward cast. If the shooting head is too short, you need to angle the rod towards the surface in order to anchor the line, and then it is hard to position the rod in an vertical angle when preparing the rod for the forward cast. But, an experience caster could often handle a larger variation of lenght and weight due to good technique, then it is not as important as it is for casters with limited experince.

    With the push method the arm last the line and you dont get ant speed on the line. With the pull method the rod cast the line, you load the rod and get a very fast line.

    Having trouble with the anchor using my fast sink tip. I only get it right 1/2 the time. On the Clearwater in bc anyways it’s tough. Super fast, bouldery wade. Water tension on the line changes every cast, even with a roll to clear the line.

    • @scandinavianflylines4153

      Hello, sink tips are a little harder to use, you may have to increase your casting tempo a bit. The most important thing is to early prepare your anchor in your lift/anchor-movement, then position the rod so it points upward/backward, and then just wait for the right time to begin to load the rod and the forward cast (at the same time, the tip is on its way to its anchor position). It is easier with a floating tip, for sure. you have less margin with a sinking tip, as this will start to sink if you are to late to begin with the forward cast. I hope this helps! regards Johan.

      @@dylanupdyke4616 Its a 14 ft #9 fly rod. the fly rod itself is not that important, but try to use a fairly fast action and light rod, with a fast recovery of the tip part. Then the main task is to find a fly line that suits you and the rod.

      @@scandinavianflylines4153 ...With the Danielsson reels, they have a "break" handle on some of their models. If this break system is so great, how come I've never seen this before on ANY other reels? And do YOU have one? Thank you.

    Great tutorial. Fish one handed for >25 years.,no problem. Understand all the basics and movements of the double handed flyrods. But still have not perfected this. The few times the head shoots so smoothly out the tip ,is such a rush. To see the line shoot out,and role over and landing in a straight line gives so much satisfaction. Got to love fly fishing.
