Well done that man ! A very generous gift.
Did we find out who the winner was? 😊
Diamond crossings can be a source of running problems. I found that shorting was an issue. I was going to take mine out and reconfigure the track but I do love watching a locomotive trundle through them. In the end I completely isolated the crossing, and switched power according to the route. This fixed the issue, maybe not for everyone but works for. I'm DC and I love throwing switches. I even have manual frog polarity switches ! I like your look of 'what once was ' certainly brings an air of historical depth.
Im so glad to have found your channel. As a very new convert to German modelling I found myself slightly floundering until I found your life raft channel ! Not only is your content very informative but I like your relaxed delivery. Incidentally, I probably would like the night scene, but understand the restrictions this would create for a exhibition. Which exhibition are you appearing at in October ? All in all an absolutely superb layout and channel, long may it continue. Regards
Thank you for your extremely kind words! I'm glad I can offer help, information and advice to other modellers. I'm still fairly new to German railways myself, and I've had a great deal of help from several friends over the last couple of years. It's due to appear at the NMRA BR Convention in Cookham on the 26th and 27th of October.
Just found your channel ! Just perfect. I have recently started my journey into German railway modelling so you have an avid new subscriber. Congratulations on the 1K 👍
Quite the milestone and well deserved! Nice one matey. Next stop - 10,000!
United states citizen here, (1:30) yeah never trust the USPS or any postal service in the united states to handle you're package with care. (also congrats on 1k subs guy I've never seen before!)
Can't beat the old Fleischmann steamers! Well done on 1000 subs too.
Congratulations, that's the way to go. Keep up the good work and let there be always green light for your trains! All the best Valentin PS: Good luck to my fellow model train enthusiast from the UK!
Congratulations on the milestone! Well deserved! Do you have any tips for getting started with German HO while living in England? Which retailers/brands should I look out for/stay away from?
Thank you! I'd recommend Roco, Piko and newer Fleischmann (their 1980's stuff is still good and reliable, but just not particularly fine scale). Brawa is also very good, but I don't own any, some I'm going on other people's opinions. I'd steer clear of Trix and Lilliput. I use eBay, Elaine's Trains and Jadlam Models, but be prepared to spend a lot on brand new models.
Thank you!
Toy and train fairs are usually good as Euro (and US) stuff is less popular you can usually find cheap prices - even more so on rolling stock.
Hello
There were 3 survivors, unfortunately one of them along with 3 V100's burned up in the 2005 Nuremberg Eisenbahn Museum fire. Loks en flammen. An The Third one, an Italian owned example was donated as a replacement.

nice updates Rob.. If you've gone to the effort of adding lights and you can get that 'winter wonderland' feel, it seems a shame not to show it like that? (or at least have the option?) I've never been a huge fan of night scene layouts because they don't always look 'right' - there are obvious exceptions - not least when you have a super busy scene and lots of traffic that just looks out of place at night ! BUT, this looks like it will lend itself very well? (as an aside, the evening light caught my layout this week as the sun was setting and I thought 'aha'.. that's a future option! ;-) )
Congrats on the 500th video! Night mode would be cool - not often seen at exhibitions. But more complicated - and how dark could you really get it in a brightly lit hall? There’s always goblin mode! Will you be at Tonbridge in feb?

Ex Roewa tooling coaches.
quiet locomotives
A good tip: instead of keeping the standard couplers you could also use the close couplers, that are easier to uncouple (lift the vehicle straight up) in the consist itself.
Schone Lok.
I wanted to get one of the old Metal fleischmann 212 (V90) for a while. and of course the "new" Roco V100, which I think was a Fleischmann model.
Love rhe model scene
Thank you very much!
Great stuff, Rob...several more entirely typical DB coaches, what's not to like? So far, I have a BDyge and an AByge, though I'll probably get some a few Byge at some point...it's all a bit on the back burner at the moment due to other priorities. I see your Byge has the silver handrails fitted; I need to do this with mine. The metal trip pins on the Kadees can be much easier adjusted using the trip pin pliers, this doesn't put any strain on the rest of the coupler. It's also worth getting the coupler hight gauge, this has a tang that sticks out just above rail level and if you set the trip pin to just touch the top of it, it'll be in the right place. Were the window mouldings of your Kitmaster Byge OK? A couple of them I had years ago had a lot of bubbles in them, making them unusable. I've added some decals to my BDyge, these were included in the box it came in...a blue "Nachlösewagen Fahrkartenverkauf " board on the moulded destination board and also the miniscule "hand bremse hier" under the centre doors. I haven't added the "raucher" and "nichtraucher" yet as they're probably out of period for my 1980s layout. Only thing to watch is that the included decals are quite old, mine literally dropped off so for the second attempt I applied a little gloss varnish on the areas they were to be located, used a decal setting solution, and varnished over them once set. There seems to have been quite a range of greens on DB coaches, possibly due to fading paint. Price wise, I paid £20 each for my BDyge and AByge, from Contikits. There are a number of useful prototype photos of bogie Umbauwagen here: bw-kottenheim.de/viewtopic.php?t=47 I have a couple of the six-wheelers, although these are in engineers blue as they'd have gone out of passenger service by the period of my layout, so this gives a good excuse for running them! It's a shame the Silverfish with original style cab went missing, I also prefer these, I guess they're a little more unassuming! Well done getting the ones you've got, they really suit the layout and of course can also be push/pulled by your V100. In my Z gauge days, I had a plain coach with the later blue underframe as well as a control trailer in the same livery as yours. I have seen a photo of a single control trailer being used, but it seems to have been relatively unusual, don't know why. I also need to add crew and passengers, most urgently to my Red Buzzer as it really looks odd without at least a driver...I'd better get painting some of the unpainted Preiser figures... All the best and thanks for the inspiring videos! Simon.
The single control trailer is almost certainly the Ammergaubahn, where they ran it with tiny electric locomotives (E69)
Love it
🙃
That's great, Rob...I have done similar on Schinkendorf, with my Köf III and coaches varying from Thunderboxes to a 96ft long modern express coach, top fun!
I'm having a whale of a time with this Kof!
@@theaveragemodeller the only thing I find is that mine needs regular wheel and track cleaning to perform consistently well... When it's good, it's very good!
Neat! If you wanted to progress the work further, you could partially dismantle the Y-point, removing the switch rail that connected to the diamond. Having said that, there's a point further down the line from where I work which has had no use since the sidings it served were removed a good few years ago, but was still in situ recently...I suspect that it would cause more hassle to take it out with changes to interlocking, etc. Having a back story makes a huge difference to how you approach the layout, I know it's worked for me on Schinkendorf as well as my previous layouts.
Love it! My 290 was out and about yesterday, hauling the sugar beet train in and out of Schinkendorf at the French Railways Society show in Surrey. I've finally got all the handrails fitted, except one of the little ones that goes above the small door, which has vanished...as has one of the tall stanchions at the side of the steps, good job the layout is one-sided!
Thank you! I keep being reminded that the V90's had no train heating and wouldn't have been used on passenger services. Well, they must have been desperate! I hope the show was a success! I'm having similar problems with the handrails on my Kof III, they keep falling off!
I really like this, Rob. Quite nice! 👍👍
Thank you! I'm glad you are enjoying it. Take a look around, there is plenty to see here.
Thank you for your review of the model. I do have this one myself, I really like it (as a collector of old GDR locos and wagons). Great, that you like this stuff, too. All the best Valentin
Thank you. I do adore my two DR locomotives, but my heart will always be with DB.
Awesome! You make it sound so easy. I guess the hard part is building a brilliant layout you can pitch in the first place!
Thank you, but it really is as simple as asking! My modelling doesn't compare with some of the layouts featured in the magazine, I'm very much "average" 😉
Very nice layout. Is it a single turnout? What are the dimensions, please?
Thank you! Yes, single turnout fork design. It was 4 feet by 8 inches.
Excellent news! I look forward to seeing your article, always enjoy CM.
Congratulations, I will take a look.
Congrats - that's great news. Out of interest - what's the process for getting considered to be featured? Maybe a video on 'how to get your layout featured in a mag' is in order?!
Thank you! That's certainly an idea for a future video. Maybe once the edition is out I'll go for it.
Very cool to see this model rolling on your layout! All the best Valentin
Thank you! I'm very happy with it
Fully booked for a trip to the 'vorwende' rabbit hole

I spotted another derailment! I guess big engines don't like r2 at all.
No prizes for spotting derailments I'm afraid 😂
Well i didnt ask for one 😂 just a little warning.
@@Davidstrains2056 I appreciate it, thank you
I hope you noticed the locos front traction wheels were derailed
It's the rear one I think, but I hadn't noticed thank you. It only ran that distance for the video. It didn't do a full circuit like that.
Maybe 2nd radius is a bad idea for that loco 😂
Put it in a consist with your blue and cream cars and you have a reasonably realistic 'Korridorzug' of the 1970s.
That's a great idea, thank you!
Is that your music?
Yes, I wrote and recorded it myself
@@theaveragemodeller were can I find your music Rob? I love the fretless bass. Have one myself .
@@Danthehorse I don't have my music commercially available at the moment, but thank you for your kind words.
Great stuff. Love your scenics. I just got hold of a 241p.
Thank you very much! Which version did you get? Mine is a very old Jouef model
@theaveragemodeller the 8241 , very old too, green and black , but looks mint and runs lovely! I'm tempted to repaint it black and mod it to look like the Murder on the Orient Express 241. That's why I love the scenics, you're halfway there for that!
AMAZING KEEP THE WORK
Thank you!
