Very true. Used to sail to Bilbao regularly from Portsmouth and the weather was a lottery. You never knew what the sea state was going to be like😢

After the change in visa rules for Sarawak, I'm afraid I have moved on to the extent that I have to plan whether we will stay in the UK or move somewhere else like Northern Spain. My wife and daughter met Jason Brooke by chance in Kuching which was great for them and they managed to get a nice photo with him. I doubt whether I will be able to get any other photos etc of remaining family members. Sarawak has been a great adventure but sadly it is now at an end for us. Best of luck Chris

Thank you for your kind greetings and for leaving such an interesting comment about your own ancestry. My wife and daughter were in Sarawak just over a year ago but sadly I could not join them. We had hoped to move to Kuching but when the government changed the SMM2H visa rules it was no longer such an attractive prospect for us to do so. Their graves are in a lovely part of England but quite under-stated given who they were. I really hope you can make it one day. If you do get to the UK, just let me know and I can help you with your plans to see the graves. The same Brooke family who are the descendants of the white Rajah's still live in Burrator House near to the cemetery. It is such a fascinating piece of history . I wish you all the best with your future travels and hope you can one day see the graves.

We would love to welcome you to Devon if we are still here! At times we do wonder whether having another adventure is the right thing to do as the UK is a good country to live in but life is also about new experiences and Sarawak would certainly be different ☺️👍

Sadly we don't live in London. We actually live in a small village in the English countryside which has no shops Andi's difficult to access. We chose to live here initially because we thought we would like rural life but we don't. The cost of housing in English cities is so high, we thought we would look at Malaysia as I have friends in KL. In looking at KL, we came across Sarawak which also has good schools and a strong historical UK connection. 👍☺️

@@mithila2399 I sure hope so. The schooling side of things was a concern but they have 2 or 3 great schools in Kuching so that side of things is sorted 👍

@@mithila2399Not yet but hoping to submit in the next 4-6 weeks. Doing the medical in the UK is not cheap (circa £600)- the rest is relatively straight forward such as police clearance certificate and bank statements etc. 👍

Actually we have no connection at all with Malaysia other than the fact we have Malaysian friends in KL. I am from the UK and my wife is from Manila in the Philippines. Sarawak seemed like an interesting option as we currently live in Devon in England close to where the "white Rajahs" are buried and their story was so fascinating. 👍😇
