At Rocky Mountain motorsport race circuit. Rocky Mountain motorsport park #porsche #mx5 # miata #gt3 Self note, very hot day. Consumables low, found out running over white lines on track edge is ok. Tire hot psi dropped lower by 2 psi and still ok. Couldn’t beat my PB set early this year. Match front and rear hot PSI and car handles quite neutrally with a tad of under steer.

How often for fuel induction service on the CX-5?
Mx 5 maintenance book says use FL-22 coolant we must use this or not
@@berkbirfidan9188 it’s recommended to use fl22. I use aftermarket coolant that is approved for all makes
Hi everyone. I read some of your comments here regarding the transmission. I currently owned cx30/2020 and cx5 2024. I have Mazda cars since 2006, all new. Amazing cars. My very fist car Mazda6 2007, around 118000 miles transmission went . Back then I didn’t change the fluid in time but around 90000 miles. I believe it was a huge mistake. Now with my cx30 I replace spark plug at 65000 miles, transmission fluid at 45000 , rear differential fluid at 40000 miles , oil and filter around 4500/5000 miles.Hopefully transmission will last . I will keep those cars for a long time.Very easy to work on,very
Every how often should u do this carbon cleaning..? Every other oil change..?
@@alexanderakilov4349 highly depends on driving habits. I only do this 2 times a year
What do u mean by driving habits? I drive my car kinda hard but not too crazy, i think i bring it to 4,000 rpms to accelerate but i try not to go over 4,000 rpms... what does that mean as far as driving habits and valve cleaning? @@Driver67

Awesome very useful content. Explains alot of questions.
He needs a Subaru for offroading! Lol It looks like it needs undercoating.
Is that a GDI (direct injection) engine. Just wondered if the valve train needs manual carbon cleaning or not. Thanks. How often do you change the oil? Maybe add som Marvel Mystery oil to oil to help with valve lash noise.
Great review. I appreciate how you are straight up with your driving habits and maintenance schedules.
Hi Mark, Great review of your 2018 CX5. I wanted to see how yours held up after 6 years. I have a 2018 White CX5 GT with 50K miles. The only things I have had to do is replace tires & 2 batteries. I live in San Diego and the car has always been garaged so it's in pretty good shape. I had them install at purchase the Android auto USB upgrade and I use a dongle. I think 2018 was the best year. The CX5's are basically bullet proof. My Mazda dealer has been great to deal with regarding service.
Better change both at the same time !!!
The gamble paid off so far :)
Thanks thought I had a misfire or bent rod
Where did you get your power struts?
mazda
Exact same problem on my CX 2020! Dealership says its the right strut worth 1300$ CAD. Extended warranty wont cover this. I found some on ebay 250$ for both side. See how that goes.
someone else posted that they bought ebay ones and it works
My girlfriend has a 2017 CX-9. I'll never buy a Mazda - to replace a single headlight is a $2,000 job. Also, I made the mistake of manually opening the power liftgate on a very cold day because it wouldn't on it's own. It hasn't worked since, and I've tried replacing the module as the dealer recommended but it still doesn't work. So frustrating.
Thanks for the video. I was going to buy a cx5 yesterday and got concerned about the noise. After watching your video call the guy back and bought it
what year model did u get?
Interesting video. Thanks. I own a a basic 2016.5 CX-5. So - no AWD, sunroof, Bose, etc. Same color as yours. It has 120,000 miles on it. Have had no major failures. Of course there are regular wear and tear issues, like brakes and tires. I expect some components of the suspension will have to be replaced soon. One minor parts failure I had to deal with is the bank of switches on the driver side arm rest. You mention it briefly at around 15:11 of your video. These are the switches that control windows, door locks, rear view mirror. The whole switch bank started failing on my CX-5 last spring. It was bizarre, sort of sporadic and slowly got worse. All of those switches (windows, door locks, mirror control), are one Mazda part. I ordered it online and installed it myself.
Thank you for sharing. No issues with mine yet. Fingers crossed
Did you get factory or aftermarket? How much for the part?
HVAC refrigerant changed after 2016, from R134A to R1234yf. If the condenser coil size did not change with the refrigerant, then some regulation issues is expected.
Oil pan heater helps quite a bit. I wake up to -30c in Northern Alberta often. Warms up super fast.
Good thing Mazda didn't go with plastic oil pans
excellent thanks from Texas. I am on my 3rd 2014, 17, 23 all have been great
Thanks for this video, happens to my 2024 mazda its lot clear now 😅
This is sick
Do you change it transmission oil?
I change diff and transfer case oil this year as i did travel across a few streams. The oil looks good for those. I believe there is mix comments about doing transmission oil if the service manual doesnt call for it.
@ mazda say it life time oil. But most aren’t agree. So I’m not sure who to listen to
@@teemo988 me neither, but I'm going with what my owners manual says. In Canada there is no mention of tranmission oil change. I seen people post about issues after they change as well. Definately good to do more research on this topic
OEM coolant is cheap, I'd just use it. I believe it's only available in 50/50 prediluted, but it's something you'll likely only do twice over the life of the car, so not worth going cheap imo
I do coolant changes 2 times a year. Because Race car. Got winter mix and there is a summer mix. lower ratio of coolant is best to draw heat out.
@@Driver67 In your case as long as it doesn't have additives that damage the system then any is fine. It's mainly when coolant is in there a long time that it matters more what's in it.
Great review. I will say I don’t have an issue with my TuxMat interfering with my shoes. Maybe because I have smaller feet (7.5-8 US). My biggest issue is the clutch pedal feels softer/more dampened since you’re depressing it against the mat. I’m thinking of making a cut out but not sure yet.
Interesting. I personally didn't find that to be an issue but I will prefer a more raw clutch pedal depression feel. good observation!
18:25 if the anti glare layer is gone foggy You can remove the anti glare layer with a normal baby wipe and a piece of kitchen towel I did it for my cx-5 the other day, It worked a treat and no more foggy screen on sunny days
Just gently rub the baby wipe in circles until the anti glare layer breaks down and dry with the paper towel Literally a 5 minute fix One of the quickest easiest fixes I've done to my cars I would get some thin to help do the part of the screen that goes into the dash
@@loopsmybrother6156 i'll keep that in mind. I dont think i notice it when driving. I only notice it when I'm cleaning out my CX-5 and that misty screen stands out from a clean interior
@@Driver67 fair enough if it's not so bad that you don't see it while driving I think the fog comes from cleaning the screen with alcohol based wipes My car was second hand and already had quite noticeable fog so was rather annoying while driving in sunny conditions Good luck with your car Thanks for the reply
Thank you for your guidance, NOT a simple battery replacement (IMHO). We bought our 2021 CX-30 used, and only now realize we only have a valet key in one of our key fobs, oh well. Yea, a smaller screw driver made the job easier. Nonetheless, thanks again!😅
thanks
Still not working. Thank you. Great advice. I’m just going to take it to the dealership. It’s constantly loosing connectivity to my phone.
I sometimes randomly have disconnects too. I do the 3 button hard reset when I'm driving. Very uncommon to lose connection for me (perhaps 2 times a year)
I have the same sound, what is it?
Very nice setup.. over engineered ofc haha but so cool how everything is done. The highest compression ratio engine available at 14.0. The only other engine with this measurement is the Ferrari 458 Italia I believe.. I’ve also noticed Mazda likes to tune their exhaust to sound “cooler” even for base engines/4 cylinders. While it’s not a V6 or V8, it’s little details like these that you can appreciate. My neighbor has a mid-range, stock 3 with the base engine. I can hear it start up in the morning which is always pretty cool.. it’s not trying to be something it’s not, it just has little notes of Mazda DNA. The sound reminds me very much of how BMW made their 335i exhaust sound upon start up.
Feels better now to know that it's normal, I have a 2023 Mazda 3 (2.0L) with only 4400 miles, I was wondering if the sound the engine made at a red light was normal the other day, some strange rattle I haven't previously noticed.
Thank you so much for this video, 1st madza and had no idea why my car was making that noise
It just doesn't sound good even if it's technically normal to sound like that.
Yes definitely not an appealing sound. But unfortunately emission regulations push manufacturers to do things like this or cylinder deactivation mode etc 🥲
Shutter / rocking in parking lots? Shutter when accelerating? Chirp when shifting from 3rd to 4th gear?
i didnt observe such things. I do notice sometimes when the clutch is engaging on first gear, (torque convertor to lockup) it might not be the smoothest feeling.
Mine's got the chirp...36k on it. Dealer swapped the torque converter; chirp's still there. New transmission on order.
My 2018 had that same ticking sound. It drove me crazy, even though 3 different Mazda dealers said it's normal. I told them if it was ticking when I bought it I would have returned it. Besides that I absolutely loved my 2018 GT, before she was taking to heaven in a rear colission. Love those Pizza wheels.
would you recommend CX 50 2024?
not sure. never experienced the CX-50 before. Looks great on the outside though
@Driver67 If you don't mind a car made in Alabama as opposed to Japan, get the 50.
Thank you very much!
Awesome job! What lap time tracker do you use?
harry's laptimer
Please advise how to fix it
@@makf9427 it’s normal. No need fix it
6 years and only around 75000 miles. Not much at all.
My 2017 Lexus ES350 just hits 48k miles.
Hm.. i have also non-turbo 2019 top spec on 70k km and seems like it also has this clicking sound at cold start..appearing at the right side of the motor if you are facing the engine. So most probably it's the hydraulic valve lifters and it sounds expensive :)
Hope you still have extended warranty? I hope it is not expensive to fix
Is the cx 9 just as good?
Is your engine cover vibrating too guys? Mine does, when warm obviously. 92k km, came back from the service without any issues found. New sparkplugs.
maybe engine mount getting tired?

This is a touch screen the Mazda information I was looking for is for Mazda 2021 cx5 touring
It would help to put the car year and model the description is not useful
Great review Mark
I sat in a CX5 today at a dealership. Not a good car for tall guys! My head was up against the roof. Also sat in the CX30, which felt much better for tall men, but then the back seats are said to have very little leg space.
I am 6 foot 3 inches and comfy in a CX5, regularly have 3 people in the back
Whats the mileage
He said 140 km.
