Thank you for your explanation for the differnt kinds of Whiskies. It would had been good adding Indian Whiskies, which have a very high percentage worldwide. The numbers speak for themselves. There are eight Indian whiskeys in the top 10 best-selling whiskeys. Only two Scots Johnnie Walker (third place) and Ballantines (10th place) represent the motherland of blended whiskey (see Drinks International)

What is happening to French wine. Relative recent vintages seem to lack body or be more acidic. I assume that the climate has become more North African that the grapes are ripening prematurely or holding lass moisture.

Question: Washington State Columbia River Valley...It has volcanic ash in the soil from the eruption of Mt St Helens in or about 1980. What does that do to the wine Also, Is it possible the the Columbia River Valley is actually a desert They pipe in most of the water they need. What does that do to the production of say Reisling from Cte St Michelle?

Don’t price shop for good region wines in France is a very amateur, « foreigner » advice. Of course you can and should price shop. Even our supermarkets here in France have amazing wines from these areas from small creators at really affordable prices. Good French wine doesn’t have to be about price - you’ll have a hard time finding bad wine sometimes ! Good French wine is about the right fit for the right occasion - whether it’s a winter raclette, an Asian dinner, a summer apéro, a grand celebration, or an easy night in. Of course price shop, but do it right.
