Geneva Peace Week / Geneva Peacebuilding Platform
Switzerland
Geneva Peace Week is a leading annual forum in the international peacebuilding calendar.
The Geneva Peace Week is a collective action initiative facilitated by the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, and the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform in collaboration the Swiss Confederation. By synchronizing meetings on different topics related to the promotion of peace during one week, Geneva Peace Week maximizes synergies between organizations in Geneva, focused on the cross-cutting nature of peace.
Geneva Peace Week underlines that each and every person, actor and institution has a role to play in building peace and resolving conflict. It also highlights that peace promotion occurs in many different contexts and cuts across disciplines and sectors. In this sense, Geneva Peace Week is an attempt to break down the silos which all-too-often characterize the international community and can limit more creative responses.

Sport for peace: harnessing the role of sport in conflict resolution and peacebuilding

Formal and informal pathways to resilient environmental water cooperation

Environmental factors alone are rarely the cause of conflicts. Related factors such as food shortage, lack of access to water and loss of livelihoods connected to environmental degradation, however, often emerge as conflict drivers. The interplay and relationship between politics, law and technical issues on environmental and water cooperation is as relevant between states as it is at the local...

The most undemocratic ideas I have heard is even "if the people do not like federalism "visionary leaders" go ahead and implement federalism" To me this is a text book example of "Rule by Law" The same is true in Ethiopia and Ethiopians fought for more than 30 years to end this constitution that is robbing our identity and God given right to own land and be sovereign in our will or choice and in our life. The solution is very basic just respect each life and protect each person to exercise it's God given rights of life and choice. It is that simple. Politician wanted to know what is best for us. This is at its core illegal and criminal since all humans are created equal and it requires consent of each human to impose anything without will. Drafting a construction is any citizens job and each gives ideas and they will be compiled into one document and it will be distributed again for any addition or replacement or removal of words, phrases, statements, articles. Once the common understanding is reached then it will be translated to a legal document by legal professionals so that proper words and phrases are used against the will of the people. That will be voted by referendum and become supreme law the land. That is the process ICCPR recommends and politicians shall be removed from this engagement.

Mitigation is to take care of our mother planet earth, consider and improve all what has been adressed and the contributing factors to lack peace and insecirity, also we need to listen to God' guidance on taking care of the planet earth which supports our living and to all living things including the underprivelaged,.
It has been a great week of learning exploreing expertise from all over the world, all focusing on how to promote peace linking with climate change, media and excluding the unseeprwvalages puts us into conflicts est.
To begin with, Much appreciation to great Peace contributors around the globe for this wonderful topic of understanding the role of inclusivity in building long-lasting peace. My perspective concerning the issue of inclusivity in Peace-building and peace sustainability goes in hand with understanding the role of each and everybody which is Humanity (human rights) in broader context. Here I mean, The awareness of the value of humanity guarantees the peace sustainability, but the disrespect of humanity gives flow to violence in the world. "The process must be of no one left behind", the together move should be the priority as it eliminates all bad human behaviours as well as prejudices which backs violence.
Obrigada!!

I was diagnosed with herpes 4 years ago, the doctor said there is no possible cure for the virus. But I never gave up hope of getting cured. I have been living with it taking acyclovir to prevent outbreaks. I have been doing everything possible to get cured, so I never stopped doing research about finding a cure, i came across testimonies of people getting cured by Dr Akuza herbal medicine. I contacted him through we talked on the phone and I discovered he was genuine. I gave it a try and got the medicine from him, took it as he has prescribed and i'm so happy to say i'm completely cured, i went back to my doctor to confirm it. It's so amazing, a thing of joy. Dr Akuza herbs medicine is capable of curing herpes Completely. contact him today email:(drakuzasolutioncenter@gmail.com) call Whatsapp Number( +2348072437003) follow him on Instagram (@drakuza_1).....

This is an amazing video. It's very inspiring watching a high-school student literally reaching the stars and fulfilling her dream
I love the message and different way of thinking about the UN SDGs. Most who work on SDGs are confined by our everyday experiences here, on the ground. But when we think 'outside the box' and truly think globally, and think of other professions outside of and unfamiliar to our own lives and jobs (such as astronauts and space scientists) where people are trained with the same values, educations, and skills that are needed to make progress in solving many of the world's big problems, the thoughts of Ms. Metcalf-Lindenburger show how there is a wider interconnectedness and multidisciplinary approach that cannot be ignored in our work to make the world a better place for humanity. This is a good message for teachers to share with students of all ages - and there aren't many people who are not fascinated with what astronauts do, so this is also an attention grabber for students!
Ummi Bukar! A woman I stan!!!

Peace implies equality. Economic Aspects of Language Inequality, by Aron Lukàcs era.ong/en/economic-aspects-of-language-inequality-2/ . The conclusion of this paper is that the present situation of the use of languages in the European Union seriously distorts the market and greatly hinders free competition. In the short run it gives advantages to the citizens and companies of some countries, but puts at a disadvantage the citizens and companies in most Member States in the EU. In the long run it is an obstacle also to more efficient economic development of the EU as a whole. The learning of languages in the EU costs about EUR 60 billion each year. This does not include the cost of travel and stay in other countries for the purpose of language learning. Only for people going to the UK this sum equals to about EUR 13 billion yearly. However if we consider also how much time is spent by the learning of languages and monetize this time (on the basis of the average labour cost in the EU), we come to the amount of about EUR 210 billion yearly. The cost of translation and interpretation are much less, but not negligible: about EUR 6 billion yearly. However there are much more important factors, too, but these are quite difficult to quantify. These include factors like the loss of information due to language problems and the disadvantages to certain participants in international economy and other cooperation. According to a rough estimation the cost of these factors might amount to at least EUR 70 billion in the EU yearly. In this way we arrive at a total sum of around 350 billion EUR yearly, which equals to more than 3% of the European Union’s GDP (in 2005 figures). Nevertheless, the biggest problem is probably not in the amount, but in the distribution of this sum. It is mainly the UK which reaps the benefits of this situation, and most of the other countries are losing money. According to the estimations in this paper the citizens of other Member States of the EU are paying about EUR 900 per capita yearly to the UK in this hidden way. As this process has been going on already for many years, the sum is accumulating. Supposing a period of 20 years and an interest rate of 10%, this would amount to about EUR 55,000 per person.
Churchill (are you going to censor him?) said: at 13.18 th-cam.com/video/ohe-6E2L3ks/w-d-xo.htmlm18s is the sentence: "Such plans [for spreading the English language] offer far better prizes than taking away other people's provinces or lands or grinding them down in exploitation. The empires of the future are the empires of the mind".
Churchill said: "Such plans [for spreading the English language] offer far better prizes than taking away other people's provinces or lands or grinding them down in exploitation. The empires of the future are the empires of the mind". <a href="th-cam.com/video/ohe-6E2L3ks/w-d-xo.html">Churchill</a>
How can we build peace if there is a language discrimination in the world, due to the increasingly massive imposition of the English language? This discrimination concerns education and is also a huge economic discrimination, to the great advantage of English-speaking countries. This is a form of colonization, a form of violence, not physical but mental, an immaterial war. In this conferece, with the excuse of peace you are committing a linguistic and cultural genocide, forcing everyone to speak English, the language of the dominant countries. As Churchill said in 1943, plans to spread the English language "offer far better prizes than taking away other people's provinces or lands or grinding them down in exploitation. The empires of the future are the empires of the mind." Furthermore Gandhi, our inspiring teacher, had already understood and denounced in 1909 that "to give millions a knowledge of English is to enslave them." Therefore, it is urgent that the poorest children in the world, like those from the Congo, and the richest children, like those from American or British societies, together, have a second common language, that Anglophones have a second language We want to begin a discussion on the adoption of a truly international language, common to the human species, which the Society of Nations had already dealt with in 1922, that is almost a century ago. It is urgent to build peace based on the linguistic and cultural rights of all. Instead, what is happening now is the imposition of the Anglophone monopoly on the rest of the world. Thanks for your replies. Our association ERA.ong is an NGO with special consultative status at UN ECOSOC. We deal with economic discrimination within linguistic and cultural human rights. Since 1987 we have had in our statute the use of the Gandhian method of nonviolence. Please see the statement we submitted to Human Rights Council undocs.org/en/A/HRC/44/NGO/119
