The Chop: I took an angle grinder to a perfectly good Mavrick.
Prado 150 Alternator

This video shows me swapping out a busted alternator. Took a bit of effort as there is not much room in the engine bay. Main issues were finding a hole big enough to get it out and getting the computer clip out the back. Please give me some feedback if you think of any. It is appreciated.

Hi bud maybe you should by yourself a bevel gauge easy to use and you can set your angles you can by them from your local hard wear

They have been doing the M57 here in Australia for a few years now, they are getting more popular here as time goes by. I would love the om606, but they are rare here

I was thinking the same thing. The boat does have some corrosion under the paint so I will be stripping the paint, repairing it then repainting it after I finish the ute chop

love those m57s, underrated and underdiscussed engine, think you're making a good decision with it. Recommend you take a look at the harmonic balancer and the water pump while you have it out.
I think they are as well, I will definitely be doing that while it’s out and easier access

Thanks mate. I just prefer the shape and look of the GQ’s. I might build a GU at a later date

Hey Steve, I’m happy to have come across this, my dad had a Maverick back in the early 90’s. Old fella has stage four liver cancer and has a few months left. He now has a GU that he asked me if i wanted, Big Red colour, which I want to build into a tourer. Going to drive it from S.A to up here in Brissy. I’ll be calling mine Grumpy as that was what everyone knew him as. Can’t wait for more vids Steve

Mate I watched 3 and a half minutes of this video , you remove the alternator on a 150 prado 1kd-ftv through the wheel arch behind the rubber splash guard 😊 ok .
