Romanticising books, slow living, academia, coziness, family, nature and life’s little joys.
Besides my library job, I’m studying for my Masters (MLIS), and I’m a Mum of 2 gorgeous little witches!
There’ll be lots of tea, dogs, nature and good books. I promise ❤️

Hi dear... I think this video u made for giving me answer for my comment❤
Hope it answered some questions for you! 😊
I've just applied to an MLIS program in the States! Your videos make me so excited for everything to come, and I get so happy when you post a video, they are my fave!
Oh my gosh CONGRATULATIONS! 🥂🤩 We can study together and motivate each other! ❤️📚 Let’s do this! Thank you so much for being here x
Speaking a second language is a fantastic asset to have that a lot of public libraries look for, so for those overseas viewers wondering how to get into the library industry in Australia, I would definitely say that is an important skill to have, and an advantage some have over only English speaking folk. Definitely promote that on your resume!
Absolutely! HUGE ASSET to have!
I've been watching your videos for a while now and you really motivated me to look into librarianship! I finally took the leap and now I'm studying for the Diploma!! 😊Hoping to get a technician position and maybe take up higher education to become a qualified librarian like you. Thank you for the quality videos, it's not easy to find TH-cam videos about librarians, especially based in Melbourne (I'm also from Melbourne too! 😊). I can't express how much you've helped me decide what I want to do in the future, wishing your channel so much blessings ❤
YAAAAAAYYYYY THAT’S AMAZING! ⭐️ That makes me so happy 🥰 Let’s study and get our qualifications together! We can do this! 💪🏼😎
I tried the ‘colour ‘ method once. I absolutely loved it. It looked amazing. But after 12 months, I realised I couldn’t find anything. So I’ve gone to a mix of genre and author groupings.
I’m kinda enjoying this arrangement. Finding my next read requires a little treasure hunt… 🩷 It makes me fossick around and see what really speaks to me at the time.
I'd love a video on where you're studying your masters and what your research area is?
Ooh that’s a good idea! I talk about it a bit in my previous study vlogs, but I could get more specific….
Thanks for this talk! I’ve been curious ever since you mentioned your teaching degree, my niece transitioned from teaching to working in a library and I’m very tempted, but I’m a fair bit older and not sure if I should just hang in there with my part time teaching job until I want to retire early instead. Thanks again!
I’m so glad it was helpful - I’ve had quite a few curious questions, so I thought I’d just answer it all in one video!
No wonder you loved The library at wagtail ridge if you used to drive a mobile library 🚌 I would love to do something like that 😊…..I organise my shelves into series or put my books by authors I collect together and then anything else is just put on my shelves lol 😂💕📚💕💛
It was THE BEST JOB. I used to drive to all these little coastal communities and have my lunch on the beach… it was awesome!
@ that sounds perfect … it would have been awesome to do 💕📖💕
I’m curious about when you said add onto my teaching degree…how long did you work as a teacher? I’d love to make this transition too. I’m a teacher and have been for thirty years but I’m very tempted to switch.
I taught for about 4 years in a mix of Primary Schools and High School (Special Education). I already had a Bachelor of Teaching, now I’m doing my Master of Information Science as a postgraduate degree. Hope this helps!
Hi Dear... I am Sreeja , from India living in Newcastle (NSW). Ur video is so nice , and I am watching how u r enjoying ur job. I wish to do the library assistant job. Can u please guide me? I have master's in engineering.
I’ve got a vlog about this coming out soon! ❤️😊
Your brain over-thinking the book blanket project 😂 Hard relate (not the knitting part, but the brain ticking over into minute details) Love your work.
I can’t help myself! 🤪😝
I enjoyed this video so much! I can relate to the reading goal taking away from actually enjoying the books you read. I'm trying to enjoy books more this year instead of focusing so much on the number! Love love love your vibes and your channel🩷
Totally! I think I struggle to get deeply lost in a story when I’m thinking about the next book on my tbr! So I’ve stopped setting quantitative reading goals. Thank so much for being here! 😊💗📚
I’ve seen this book blanket idea a couple of times on TH-cam now, I’ll be starting my own too. I’m not a big fan of granny squares for some reason so I’ve decided to knit the squares using a mitered square pattern from Ravelry. I’m a new knitter so this will definitely improve my skills as I’m reading along. Looking forward to seeing your blanket grow along with mine. Can’t wait to see your new glasses. You’ll look awesome!
Yay!!! We can make our blankets together!!! 🥰
I’ve never met a Maeve Binchy book I didn’t love!
Yep - same! 😊💗
What a great idea with the book blanket!! Love that yarn 💚 When I got to 40 I needed reading glasses and I was sooo excited! so I know how you feel 😊 That little free library was so cool!! 📚
I’ve always wanted glasses! 👓 I’m so excited to go pick them up! 🤩
Hi Ange, Good Street Library! That’s a great idea that you have for your knitted book blanket. I crochet for Wrap With Love and do squares while watching these videos. I am reading The Borrowed Life of Frederick Fife by Anna Johnston at the moment and it has a beautiful cover, soft greens, blue, white and a yellow spine so I am going to gather those colours and make a square in those colours. I would make a book blanket for myself along with you but I have so many blankets already and not enough chairs or storage for any more, so I will watch yours grow. Love the colours.
Maybe you can make your wrap with love squares inspired by your current reads…?! 😊
My dear your channel give me motivation. I love your content. I miss you my dear youtuber❤❤❤
Thank you so much! ☺️
Ah a chronic overthinker like myself 😂. I love the colour palette that you’ve chosen for your blanket. As for that fabulous Tardis free library - much more interesting to me than those tourist attractions like the big banana, giant koala etc. I’d definitely call into Yea just to see it 😊
It’s worth a stop-over! I’m in love with it! 💙
Hellllo! Those colours of the wool are LUSH! I can’t wait to see your new glasses! Ive had glasses since I was 19! I am the person that needs crisp, sharp words on a page. I can’t stand blurry!
I’m so excited to see what they do for my vision and reading!
Lovely video! Your hair looks extra beautiful today 💕
Naaaawww - thank you so much Lovely! ☺️💕
What a great free library I drove through that town last week when I went to Melbourne not when coming home but will look for it next time , is it hard to find ? I would love to join in with the rug and I use to crochet for years but can’t now because of my carpel tunnel but I will enjoy you updating us on the project and I have put that maeve binchy on my TBR……💕📖💕
It’s at Yea out front of their public library and community centre! 💙💙 BEST STREET LIBRARY EVER.
The opening of a school/uni library in the morning brings back such memories 🧡 Thanks for sharing
the TARDIS wallet is everything <3
OMG RIGHT?!?! 💙💙 It’s so funny when I pull it out to pay for something, and any Whovian in the room goes, “ooooohhhh OMG THAT WALLETTTTT!!! 😍” #Whovian #FindYourPeople
I’m sure you appreciate being able to park your car at work and not have a long commute in public transport. I used to travel by tram and train into the city each day, when I got a job closer to home and could drive there I couldn’t believe all the hours I had previously wasted each week in travel. This was in the olden days 😉 before the internet and mobile phones and it goes without saying that I always travelled with a book or two each day!
I do love the train, but to get to the uni then you have to get the tram and it’s always JAM-PACKED in the mornings! Plus driving gets me home a bit earlier for my kids. So, Yep: Very grateful for the parking spot!
I have just picked up a couple of Mb’s books that I used to have in my teens. (Evening Class and The Glass Lake) Time for a re read! Do you like Rosamunde Pilcher? She’s another gentle read! Hope you had a great day at work!
I haven’t read Rosamunde Pilcher, but I’ve heard really good things! 💖
Happy New Year!!! A lovely beach and ocean!! Heaven! Plus books of course!! ❤🇨🇦
Perfect summer break!
Love maeve binchy but have so many of hers to read but look forward to that … I finished The knitting club at wagtail ridge by Janet gover … soooo good it follows on from The library at wagtail ridge by Janet gover which was brilliant …. 💛📚
Ooh! I read the first one on your recommendation and I loved it too! I’ll have to read the knitting club! 🧶❤️
Mauve Binchey was one of myfavorite authors, I miss her.
I love her too ❤️
I’m terrified at the idea that the children’s librarian at a public library has not control over the collection.
She does to a degree. At our service she certainly manages our branch’s children’s collection. The children’s librarians have more control at a branch level.
@@very.casual.librarian good. Cause they know the assignments and the hits at story time better than someone offsite or at a book selling company trying to sell collections so the librarian does not have to do that. Also the librarian is the one to defend titles and items in the collection. I am in the U.S. I used to order for the bookmobile the picture books and readers. Cause I did for the kids department at the physical location. But other staff took it out. The book I recall was one in the Walter the Farting Dog series. The staff were worried about complaints and only so many books can fit for the type on the bus. I actually got it for them cause it was a best seller off a list they asked to always get the ones that made the list. The library location had lots of copies. Anyone could pick up a copy gotten through reserve/hold system from the bookmobile stops. But I could see how the staff driving the bus would be in an uncomfortable position. So I didn’t get future tiles of that series for the ones they ‘owned’. I did say it remain in the main building, they also checked books out to the bus from the main library to fill when shelves were not full on the bus. Especially holiday times. Their staff could end up grabbing main location copies. Or someone could return it to the bookmobile and they could end up putting it in the bus as a choice for a later stop that run. I would hate to be in a Walter the Farting Dog situation at the building where I’m to defend something I never bought. I would have known how vaguely that the prior titles checked out well, what the reviews were, etc.. I would hate to be short on copies on a title I knew would be asked about but central ordering decided only 2 copies for my size branch. Not everything is Harry Potter obvious but there are things that need more copies than normally necessary and that is before the wait list on the title begins. Some author’s popularity are neighborhood specific. I quit to stay home, I became a parent later in life. He is just finishing school. As you can probably tell be my examples. I was completely confused by the Seuss incident some years back. Not so much for a publisher stopping the publishing of older titles as that happens all the time no problem. But the fact it was Seuss books, legit ones not just under the label, and more the fact the publisher desired they be pulled from bookstore and library shelves. How are people going to read the titles in question and make their own mind to whether the decision reasonable or not if they can not for free with a copy already on the library shelf? What title is next? At least one of the titles in question was defended in a collection the year or two prior with the help of the ALA. Our library association. So bizarre. If you are going to pitch a fit pick on Seven Lady Godivas. But that isn’t the kids department I’ll leave to adult services. When someone complains I’m professionally bound to defend but people can pressure a publisher and it’s not the government censoring so fine? A patron/customer complaining was not the government either. World has gone goofy. Rocked my world.
It can be so fraught, can’t it?! And issues will arise depending on the individual users of that branch, or local issues… Luckily, the children’s librarian at the public library I was working at had many years of experience and was very much a part of the local community. I think it’s so important to engage with, and to get to know your patrons!
I was so happy when the camera changed and I could read what was written on your mug lol happy new year 🤗
It’s my mum’s mug - she’s a mad-keen gardener! Isn’t it cute?! 🥰🌱
My mind was blown when I saw that your library has a shelf out in the public area where patrons may collect their reserved items - I've never seen that in my life! The libraries I've worked at all have those shelves behind their circulation desks!
Console game holds are kept behind the desk - sometimes they get stolen! But everything else is on the shelf with the patron’s name on it. It can only be checked out to that patron’s card. Our regular customers just walk in, grab their holds, use the self check out machine, and they’re on their way in 5 mins! 😊
Hello and happy 2025 from sunny and chilly Oregon!
Hello 👋🏼 Gosh I can’t wait for Winter! I love the cold! ❄️🩵

Excellent choice of reading for a summer holiday at the beach 😊 When I saw the rock pools it made me remember The Shell Seekers by Rosamunde Pilcher, I must read it again soon. I hope you’re enjoying your break and I look forward to hearing all about your exciting news.
I needed a good thick long story for summer - I was in the mood to be pulled into a long story! ❤️ Plus it’s set in a sea-side village. Really enjoying it so far 😊
