Would it be possible to enable BC eye exam claims to be submitted directly by the provider?

Excellent explanation. I wish there was one for regular claims as I've given up trying to do those on-line and have reverted to the old mail-in forms.

I am unhappy about the new way to submit claims for Chiropractic treatments. We have enough problems using electronic forms already without doing the jobs that should be taken care of by the insurance company that is being paid to handle these claims. Go back to the simpler way of submitting claims that we had been using. This is unloading work to retirees we have not asked for.

Seeing your doctor regularly is important, but in an emergency, like running out of medication or experiencing unexpected side effects, coming to your pharmacist will often be quicker and more convenient than making an appointment with your doctor. ARTARx pharmacists are knowledgeable and there to help at a moment’s notice. Will the pharmacy be available in Calgary? There are plans for expansion to Calgary; at this point, operations are limited to the greater Edmonton area. Do you have to visit the pharmacy to provide a prescription, or can you email a copy of the prescription? You can email in a prescription, or it can be faxed by your doctor. Can you go to a community pharmacy and use your ARTA coverage? If you need an acute care medication ASAP and the ARTA Pharmacy is closed, you can visit another Pharmacy and receive 80% coverage on that medication. If you are covered by the AB coverage for seniors’ plan, that drug would be covered at 100% if it is listed on the AB drug benefit list. If you get your maintenance medications dispensed by another Pharmacy, those would be covered at 50% if dispensed at a Pharmacy other than ARTARx. Is delivery available at extra cost if the pharmacy is far away from my home? Delivery is available at no cost to you, no matter the distance, if you live within the pharmacy service zone. What is the estimated time for delivered goods? Deliveries are made daily; if your prescription isn't urgently needed, it will be delivered within the week based on the delivery schedule of similar addresses. Urgently required prescriptions can be delivered next day; and potentially same day if ordered early in the day. Are you required to meet with the pharmacist to begin service or can you do a video call? We do offer virtual meeting services, and you can do this to begin service. Can I get the RSV shot at the pharmacy and what is the cost? Yes, we have access to Arexvy, current cost is about $250-300. If I choose to drop of my prescription to the pharmacy, is there same day filling of the prescription available? Yes, we can do same day filling of the prescription if we have the medication in stock. Otherwise, we can have it delivered to you at no cost the next day. How do we transfer our chronic medication to ARTARx without going back to the doctor? Contact the ARTARx pharmacy, let us know which pharmacy currently holds (fills) your prescription. The ARTARx pharmacy team members will do the rest of the work - contact your other pharmacy and initiate the transfer to ARTARx pharmacy. Can I switch my current plan to ARTARx if I haven't been on my current ARTA plan for 2 years yet? Yes - you can switch to the ARTARx plan at any time. Are weight loss drugs covered under the ARTARx plan? Prescription weight loss drugs are covered under the "defined lifestyle prescription drugs" and are covered at 80%. How does the single monthly fee compare to the Total Health 1200 plan? The monthly rate for the ARTARx plan is only a few dollars more per person than the Total Health 1200 plan. More information on all rates is available on artabenefits.net. Where can I find the costs for the ARTARx plan? Costs vary dependant on your membership type; if you email info@arta.net with your membership number, they can give you the specific rates. Is there any coverage for Metamucil or vitamins prescribed by a doctor? ARTARx drug benefit list is the same as the other ARTA plans. Vitamins and Metamucil are ineligible under the benefit plan as they are subject to tax (unlike prescription medications). ARTARx pharmacy can provide these products but there may be an out-of-pocket cost for them. Because there’s ARTARx, does that mean ARTA will no longer cover prescription at other pharmacies? ARTA continues to cover prescriptions from all pharmacies! The ARTARx benefit plan offers increased coverage for those who will use the ARTARx pharmacy, but you're more than welcome to stay on your existing plan and use your current pharmacy. Are there any changes to the current plans? If you are participating in a different plan - those plans are not changing at all. The ARTARx plan is simply a new option being made available to people currently living in the Greater Edmonton Area, with the intention to expand to all of Alberta in the future. What are the premium costs? The monthly rate for the ARTARx plan is only a few dollars more per person than the Total Health 1200 plan. More information on all rates is available on artabenefits.net. We are snowbirds who travel to Arizona for 6 months, November to April, and require 6 months of prescriptions before we leave Canada, is this possible? That would not be a problem - we ask that you put in your vacation request a couple of weeks before your departure date so that we can ensure an adequate supply to refill for the six months. It was mentioned that there is only 50% coverage for prescription at other pharmacies, could this be explained further? If you participate in the ARTARx plan, one of the stipulations is that you agree to transfer your medications to ARTARx for dispensing. If you disregard this and still use your local pharmacy, for a maintenance medication it is only going to be covered at 50%. Is joining the ARTARx plan just a matter of using the pharmacy or is there a sign-up process required? If you would like to switch over to one of the ARTARx plans you will need to fill out a change application form. You can book a vaccine appointment by emailing contact@artarx.net Does ARTARx contact my current pharmacy (Costco) to transfer my prescriptions? Yes, we can contact your current pharmacy to arrange the transfer. What are the options if one does not wish to use a generic medication? If you are not medically able to take a generic medication you can have your physician submit a special authorization form which may allow you to receive the brand name equivalent, if approved by the claims adjudicator. Where do we find the comparison chart to evaluate the plans? You can find the ARTARx plan options brochure here - www.artabenefits.net/artarx You can compare each plan using the chart in the brochure. Would I need to get my flu vaccine at ARTA pharmacy if I’m in the plan? You do not need to get your flu vaccine at the ARTA pharmacy (though we would certainly love you to!). The flu vaccine costs are covered by Alberta Health Services so do not impact your benefit plan. I already have special authorization for prescription. Will I need to obtain another SA? If you have Special Authorization with your existing ARTA plan, then no new authorization will be required. If you are adding an ARTA plan to an existing coordinating plan (AB Seniors), you will not need a new Special Authorization. If you are switching from another benefit plan to ARTA, then yes you will need to submit a new SA.

Is the paramedical Coverage the same amount per each different service or overall? The paramedical coverage is overall - we find the average ARTA member uses 1.1 paramedical practitioners. Offering a combined maximum allows you to use the services you prefer (e.g., $1,200 in massage therapy, rather than a maximum of $700 of massage, $700 of chiropractor, etc.). The maximums are per covered person - so the maximum would be for individual person. When you state an Orthopedic or Foot Orthotics, covered, is that included the maximum in Paramedical? Orthopedic inserts and foot orthotics are covered under separate line items, not paramedical. Visiting a podiatrist would fall under paramedical practitioner. Does ARTA offer ambulance coverage? ARTA does offer ambulance service coverage. a) licensed ground ambulance to and from a local hospital when medically necessary for emergency treatment; and b) emergency transportation inside your province of residence by a licensed ambulance, air-ambulance or by any other public transportation vehicle, to the nearest hospital in which the required treatment can be provided, subject to one return trip per person per calendar year. Charges for licensed ground ambulance service to and from points of departure and arrival are also covered. Charges for non-emergency use of an ambulance used solely as a means of transportation in lieu of other forms of transportation (i.e., taxi, bus, para-transport, are not covered). Emergency Medical Travel Riders - it's not included but can you add it on the base plan? No Emergency Travel riders are not available. Emergency Travel is only available as included under one of the ARTA Benefit Plans which includes Emergency Travel (Total Health, Ultimate Health, ARTARx + Travel, or any of the Comprehensive plans). Does the out of country travel coverage change once age 70 is reached? There are no changes to our emergency travel insurance - there is no termination age, so you're covered past 70 as well. Are there any lost luggage clauses in the trip cancellation insurance? There is no lost luggage coverage, as this expense is typically covered by the airline. Can you cancel your plan at anytime, even if you did an upgrade in coverage? If you upgraded in coverage, there are certain minimum participation requirements to remain on the plan. If you have not upgraded in coverage, you can cancel at any time. We can make exceptions for cancellation as well, such as if you go back to work and are covered by your employer. Do non-profit employees under the AUMA qualify for this benefit plan? Yes - if you meet the eligibility requirements of belonging to AUMA for two years, you are eligible to join. If we have an employee that retired already, can they still join? Yes - they can still join. If they have not had benefit coverage for over sixty days and want to join a plan that includes emergency travel insurance, they will be subject to medical insurability. But they can join any of our other benefit plans as well. How do we receive a benefit plan package? You can email marketing@arta.net or join@arta.net and we can send you an enrolment kit.
