So this video dates back to the early 90's? I was thinking late 70's or 80's. What a gem though! Your opportunity to meet him and just hang around with him was such a blessing! Thank you for sharing your story and this video to the world! My father was a huge Chet Atkins fan - just seeing him in his prime brings my father back to me - sweet memories...

In the early 90’s Chet tutored guitar students at Brookhaven College in Dallas. He also performed live at their auditorium. I was in the front row and he invited audience members to meet him the next day. Few people showed up so I got to hang with him for several hours, what a great guy.

I think just how great a guitarist chat Atkins was is possibly lost on this generation. He could literally play every style of American music to perfection. A great tutorial.

One of the greatest guitarists that ever lived and one of the most unknown . The fact that Chet chose him as his backup says it all. You would have to be some damn good to be Chet Atkins backup guitarist. He could match Chet note for note or do the whole show by himself and if everyone closed their eyes you would never know Chet wasn't there. That's how good Paul Yandell was.

Genius. The best beginner guitar lesson I have ever seen, beginning with In Tunisia! which if you dressed it up just a little more you could put it on an album and no one would know it was an exercise. So good to demonstrate and experience rather than to give a bunch of dry dead theory as an introduction.

Hello, I’m a beginning guitar player. I’m 65 years old just retired four years ago. They want to learn to play guitar. I do it on my own because the cost of getting lessons. Hopefully you have more videos on someone like me and my age they’re beginners thank you.

I don't think Paul actually got the credit he deserved. Most of us never even knew he was Chet's accompianist. This man was one of the best guitar players in the world.
