We have GOT to get it together with Zoom. The low quality mics, additional special podium specifically for Zoom, cost way too much for this quality. People aren’t able to stay informed & Town s/b refunded for crappy equipment.

Woodstock zoning is too big vs sophistication of it's long time residents

It seems counter intuitive that an additional few ZRC representatives can't "have financial interest" in guiding policy, yet is making abstractions about the business, existential and growth interests of the town - this is a fatal flaw. It's not about 'relentless growth', but we do all want to see the town we call home thrive, provide a cushion and unique experience to others which are drawn here and do (or aspire) to call Woodstock home. The legacy and through-current of Woodstock is very obvious and important. Sustainable, long term, respectful of and in the spirit of the town is the workable middle ground (IMHO). I would also say, owner-occupiers aren't here because we have only a casual and investment focused interest in the place, everyone has their own story if ZRC and town board is willing to listen.

So let me get this straight they'll be actively interfering with owner-occupiers ability to generate income at the same time both property taxes AND ulster county occupancy tax is being raised, while providing no value to residents. Then expect owners to play some musical chairs game bouncing between STR and LTR in their own homes, while also making the place uninvestable to developers trying to create more housing inventory? This whole thing is being handled very clumsily, and all to satisfy a tyrannical minority of people who don't want woodstock to thrive. Ulster doubling the occupancy tax while woodstock halves availability is hilarious! Great self-own guys 😂😂 update: I further learnt that new entertainment ordinance will severely limit the ability for artists and businesses to pay their way and thrive. What gives?? Is Woodstock now "closed for business"?

Town has improved its Zoom/TH-cam audio by connecting up individual microphones for board members, presenters and public. I attended this meeting and, frankly, it was far easier to hear on the Internet than it was in the room, as there was no amplification there.

I seriously doubt that the ZRC's mandate is to "discourage" STR owners in order to move them toward LTR. Isn't the ZRC supposed to be simply revising the zoning code to meet practical needs, not engaging in subtle forms of manipulation based on ideology? Also, the proposed idea of STR part year and LTR part year is completely out of touch with reality. People needing a long-term rental home don't want a short lease in a furnished apartment (what do they do with their stuff?), and owners certainly won't move furniture in and out and re-paint every few months. The idea that shutting down STRs (by whatever means) will magically create a bunch more LTRs is just a wild fantasy.

The city of Kingston has higher fees for non-owner occupied STRs than for owner occupied STRs. That makes sense.

Let's clear up the mythology about "who squashed the WEC". Everything we do and say is political--there is no way around that. Alex Bolotow had it right .The WEC should be pushing for clean up the contaminated mess at 10 Church Road . No need to mince words about that .

The ZRC could have recommended, to the Town Board ( Laura) to NOT raise the fees yet. And Laurie Ylvisaker, a local realtor , is seen smiling and smerking at the group. She was one of the Task Force members that dropped out of the end planning we did with the County Planner because she didnt beleive in what we were doing, She sells property with the recommendation to STR . She doesnt care about affordable housing. Its all about the money. SAD!

Why are people talking over each other? What happened to Roberts Rules. This is not acceptable to town residents that have a hard time hearing the proceedings thru the inept zoom audio. This is very disheartening to see and hear. Such rudeness and non adherence to our town laws which Bennet has sited as being violated.

Wow! Impressive presentation on the newly formed Woodstock Bear Task Force! This is a wonderful idea for educating the public and hopefully reducing the number of Human/Bear interactions that sadly, often lead to bears being euthanized. Bravo, Woodstock!!!

I think the drone idea is great but I hope the Town looks into the legality of using drones. My understanding is that drone flights are controlled by the FAA. There are also privacy concerns. I wonder if it's legal to fly over private property to take photos. The drones may need to fly vertically over the streets while taking these videos.

A great idea, Conor, to give a disclosure statement that realtors have to get buyers to sign to show that they have read and understand the rules regarding building in the the scenic overlay. I would like to see the same thing with regard to STR rules and making prospective buyers aware of our rules and regs.

That's right ~ Air BnB's took care of all our long-term rentals. NYC folks swooped up property and those who own property who are locals "transformed" their places ~ all for NYC people who are not living here full time. It's everywhere now. It sucks. Rents have doubled. People are kicked out of their homes. Horrible situation.

Hi there, this was my first viewing of a Woodstock Planning Board meeting. IMO you handled this variety of somewhat delicate issues in a professional manner with sensitivity and respect for those concerned.

I'm moving home and would love to work with the Town of Woodstock on producing the Town Board Meetings. :)

The 14 lot subdivision defies biodiversity and wildlife habitat recommendations by spreading through the acreage amidst the wetlands even if "buffered" instead of being clustered and minimizing the inroads into the forest and field, breaking up the expanse of open space that is home to a wide range of animals. Can the planning board require that in addition to affordable housing, any development must preserve animal habitat and fragile ecologies by clustering construction and minimizing roadways?
