6:10...So there were at least two generations of "snowflake" taillights. The round snowflakes (pre-'54) and the oval snowflakes ('54-'61 bugs). My fave is that red (6:59) right hand drive oval snowflake QT from South Africa. That green one underneath the tarp (9:09) is a '61, last year with snowflakes and no gas gauge. In 1962, the bugs came out with the larger "high heel" taillights with separate turn signals, fuel gauge, and spring loaded dual propped front hood (no more fatigue breaks), at least on US export models.

Hey dude, I got chatting to the bloke that owned that orange red and white beetle you first showed after the jet single cab. It’s actually got 3 tesla motors powering it with a fibreglass beetle shell on it!! Proper quick but fully electric.

In Ausstralia that orange was called VW Dulon "Riverina Orange".

1974 in Australia we had the Superbug "L" 1600 and the 1300 Beetle.

The first VW i drove was a 1200 65 VW. In fact i learned how to drive a stick in one. Interesting thr evening i learned to drive i backed out a dark driveway. The next morning a classmate asked if we saw anyone leaving that evening. We had no idea until we away and realized i wiped out an entire to row of his mother's prized roses. We drove that car everywhere. I did realize the back seat was not the place to enjoy a bit of privacy with my girlfriend.
