Stocks that pay dividends that increase with inflation is the perfect investment when you retire, you need to accumulate them during your working life.

If you had zero inflation then gold would not increase in value.

You need an investment that gains by more than inflation otherwise you are not actually increasing your wealth.

Gold increases in value with inflation so you are not making anything compared to inflation.

If you keep increasing the stockpile of gold and never make anything from it of course it will keep increasing in value just like any other metal would.

Bonds over gold for inflation protection? Terrible advice. High inflation and financial repression is our future. Inflation is theft and theft needs a victim. Bond holders will be the victims.

I think this guy is mostly right. If you are young and just buy gold instead of any other investment you will probably at least track a major index like the SP500 over 30 years without the counterparty risk. Commodities are much better inflation hedges but they will rise before it shows up in the cpi. Commodity and PM producers are terrible long term but go crazy during community bull markets. The thing you need to consider is what happens to currency at the end of long stable periods spanning a century or more. That is why I buy gold. It's not about getting rich, it's about avoiding a collapse in my standard of living. Crypto, tech stocks, risky commodity producers, meme stocks - those are for getting rich.
