Most Nashes had OHV engines from the beginning. And Studebakers used flatheads. Only Willys used the F head design.
Ambassadors had the OHV Six engine; La Fayette had the side valve.

Have a look at Johnson Motors service bulletins for 60-61. They are full of fixes for this particular bike. This bike nearly took down Triumph it was so full of bugs. Frame breakages, vibration fractures of numerous brackets, batteries boiling over, electrical problems, not to mention the numerous problems with the remote float carbs. They lost a lot of money on this one. By '62, it was a very good motorcycle, one you could ride every day.

That is NOT a "riding mower". It's a heavy duty "lawn and garden tractor", commonly shortened to "garden tractor". That line of equipment was designed and originally manufactured by the New Holland Farm Equipment Company. Ariens bought the patents and manufacturing rights from New Holland. My family owns three of them. They are nothing like the cheaply-built lawn tractors being manufactured today.
