Cell tower grounds maintenance
A video I made a few years back. Cleaning up the compound under a self-supporting cell tower using a Stihl KM130R trimmer. We clear them mostly every year while doing general maintenance on the site. This particular site grows like that every year so vegetation needs to be controlled every year.

MAME arcade cab UPDATE - New PC, new frontend

After a few years, decided that my mame build was in great need of an upgrade. The Pentium 4 / XP days were over. Had a few i5 spare PCs laying around so I decided to put one under the hood and gave Coinops Next a try. Trying out Killer Instinct and Mortal Kombat 2

Here's a quick cover of Killswitch Engage - Temple from the within using a Yamaha DTXplorer electronic drum and a Pearl double pedal. Far from being perfect as I'm a guitarist in the first place haha so did a few mistakes, a few missed beats, missed toms and such as I hate learning songs note for note and prefer improvisation... but hey, at least I have fun!

First run with the Tundra 250 88. Exploration of nearby trails. Bought it for a decent price. Did the top end last week but it needs crank seals so I'll do the complete bottom end too. Recoil is sticking, carb needs to be adjusted but other than that, fun machine.
Mame arcade build slideshow - Mortal Kombat dynamo cabinet

Here's my first MAME arcade conversion. It's a Dynamo cabinet originally converted to MK1. I got it for cheap because it was empty and needed cosmetic work. All the hardware is screwed onto the MDF panel. I used a 21" CRT TV that I decased and it fitted well. The tv circuit board is screwed on the sidewall. The tube is screwed on a frame made of 2x3's that i fitted vertically. The PC is a P4 2....

    I've been thinking about doing this for a long time. I use to climb towers when I was younger. And I remember the mess that was left after the job was done. We'd have a groundsman come and clean up. I thought when I get older I might like to do that. I'm older now.

      Yeah, its a fun job. I'm glad that I made the choice to start this company. Get to do various tasks inside and outside the shelter. Being alone on the road, in the mountains, no one to bother me. Except the flyes and wasps haha. Can't think of any better way to spend my workdays!

    Great video! Definitely my jam! We inherited a massive abandoned farm that has been "wilding" for 40+ years and are considering one of these in the Pro Max34 config (20hp/34" cut) as an addition to our current equipment stack (have large tractors and brush hogs, excavators, etc) but also have tight and steep places that just won't work with an 8' or 12' brush hog & tractor :D Regarding the controls, can you make a video showing how they work while mowing? (like a chest mounted camera position? I'm thinking this is something my fit 62yo mom can use as she still likes to get out and mow but i'm not sure how this thing is to handle and control. I'm also considering one of these flail mowers as they have the walk-behind feature (which would be good for mom!) but don't know and can't find out much about the company and reputation/user ratings. It's a japanese company and they do make quality stuff... fwiw. orecamerica.com/products/walk-behind-flail-brush-mower-cyclone-track/

    The problem with DR mowers is the shifting. Letting go of the handle to shift back and forth constantly is a design flaw. This video is all on flat ground, when you are on steep terrain of uneven difficult to maneuver or edges of road with big drop offs, letting go of the handle can be dangerous. Even if you use the brake you have to let go of the brake to shift. Brush mowing is a constant back and forth operation. Which means your shifting constantly. This also wastes tons of time over the course of the day or couple hours of use. I'm a DR owner for years and I think it works well. I think the Kawasaki motor if a very very good motor. I use mine waaaay more than most people use their because I use it professionally, but one day I had to rent one. I rented a Billy Goat hydrostatic because rental yards wont rent DR mowers, they just don't stand up to rental abuse. The difference was amazing to not have to be shifting all the time. Now I'm just waiting for my DR to die so I can buy a Billy Goat but it just wont die.

    • @dufour01
      @dufour01 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I had both shifter cables break last year because youre shifting all the time. On flat terrain its okay, but on steep terrain or when you do sides of roads / culverts, its just a pain in the ass. I had to let it go in a ditch once. Now I just send a guy with a skid steer and a brush mower to do bigger jobs but I still do small jobs with it. Mines the 20hp briggs vtwin. Engine is the most reliable piece on this equipement. After a few years of use I can say the rest is alright, nothing more. Tore the frame near the handle bolts, the stupid oil dipstick coming out, the sensor disconnecting. Stripped the blade shaft. Broke a few shear pulleys. Things not made to go into dense bush. But I think I give it more shit than it would normally handle. This video is old, it was one of the first time I used it so I was being gentle with it lol. Now, not at all haha

      @mikelobue1431 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, mines been over the edge of the road 15' down, flipped upside down 3 times. Each time hoisted out with the truck and pulley on the high side of road on a tree. Just keep fixing it........ I've been looking at the ex mark and Bradley brush mowers as well. Sounds like we do some similar work you might want to check them out.

    I bought one of these this month and have run it in very tough terrain and 6-foot-high weeds/sapplings about 10 hours over 3 days. I have some comments for those interested in operation and getting started with this nice machine. (I am going to post these comments on a few other videos as well, FYI.): 1. This video finally shows the kind of trees and big weeds I wanted to get rid of, so thenk you! 2. My dipstick came off at some point, so make sure it is secured and keep an eye on it. 3. If you cut along an edge vs diving into the middle of a big pile, you can see possible obstacles better, avoid stall outs, use the Reverse a lot less, run at a faster speed. A different video shows a guy backing in and out of a heavy brush pile -- very slow going relativelly if you can avoid it. 4. Reverse and the steering brakes are absolutely the best features! Don't buy anything like this without these features. I rented a different machine a few months ago, and the turns and backing out of trouble wore me out. 5. Electric start is great and helps you quickly recover from stall outs -- althugh the 20 hp engine is very capable of taking out big brush. 6. Tackling larger trees and getting over obstacles is best accomplished by pushing down on the handles to raise the deck. The driver in this video does this without comment, but it is a very good skill. Also, I have very irregular land compared to this guy, and raising the deck is huge when traversing ravines and dips. 7. Pay attention to the "burnishing" comments in the manual for the clutch and brakes. It only takes a few minutes. I don't know why DR doesn't do this in the factory, but... When burnishing the clutch (PTO up/down on console) the unit almost stalls each time you engage the PTO -- so be ready to disengage it quickly before you do it again (they say 50 times). 8. When assembling the drive to the deck, a nice flat and smooth surface is far preferable. I was able to get this together by myself, but having a helper would have been great. The deck is a little heavy -- but I was on rougher gravel, too. 9. When setting up initially, make sure you bring your oil (2 quarts) and, of course, gasoline. Goes without saying that it needs oil and gas. 10. When getting the unit out of the crate, you will need (a) wire snips or tough scissors to clip lots of zip ties , (b) tools to pry various stapled boards apart (hammer and very flat pry/nail removal bar), (c) crescent wrench for the big bolt holding the deck to the side. 11. I didn't do this, but I would slide the deck out of the crate first. Set it somewhere on a nice flat and smooth surface. 12. When getting the main unit out of the crate, be sure to (a) remove the wheel blocks in front, (b) clip the zip ties squeezing the brakes, (c) put the unit in Neutral. 13. The battery is disconnected, so just plug the positive and negative connectors into the battery. 14. There is another connector down on the bottom right side under the handlebars. It also needs to be connector or your unit won't start. 15. There is a gas shut-off also -- below the handle bars. It is probably in the shut off position when you get it. 16. When putting the drive belt on the pulleys, the most visible internal pulley is NOT what the belt goes around. The belt goes around the smaller pulley deeper inside the engine unit. 17. If you are running in 2nd gear and do a fast 180, be ready to move fast! Likewise, don't underestimate the speed of the Reverse. 18. Wear gloves!!! There is a safety proximity cut-off on the left and gear enagement on the right. So, when going through brambles, you can't just take you hands off of the handles. 19. Wear long pants, boots, protective eyewear, and, possibly, a forestry helmet with mask. The unit actually kicks up almost no debris, but the sapplings and weeds not cut will snap and snag you. 20. If you get stuck, don't underestimate the great leverage you have on the unit by pulling/lifting the front push-down bar on the front of the deck.

There's no BS background music, no talking unnecessarily, just straight to work, like most people who will buy this will be doing. Look at it take those trees! I also commend you for not just filming a tree go down, but filming yourself going back over a tree after it's already laying so that we can see what actually happens should you double over a tree that's already down as you go other paths.

    A used hydro driven mower with the front deck cut off to expose the blades works very well. Add skies or offset the front tires. Don't use gator blades they Crack eventually. Remember it's not a stump grinder. Stuns grass only common areas. Buys extra time between cuts. Single cylinder engines will save on fuel,twins will give you more discharge. Don't let the deck clogg. Make fat money. Now move your ass n get started on your build.

    What's the average cost to do a job like this?

    • @dufour01
      @dufour01 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends on how many sites we have to visit in the area and the scope of work we have to do onsite. We are a telecom contracting company so when we visit a site, we do almost everything. Full site inspection, shelter and fencing repairs, equipment installation/removal projects and also part of the maintenance plan we do vegetation removal inside the compound. As for brush clearing, most sites are done once every year, so we try to do multiple sites in the same day. I can't really give you an average price per job because each site is different but count between 1 to 3 hours of labour per site + travel + hotel. Sometimes we come upon sites that weren't maintained for years so we can spend an entire day there!
