In our second episode, we travel to Koh Samui, Thailand. We do our best to provide a comprehensive overview and a practical guide to the Island.

PEACEFUL CITY

I made this just after the conclusion of the presidential contest. I tried to capture a moment of peace in my city after a brutal election and an attempted coup/attack on the capitol.
Oh and your sound quality was excellent. Your voices were calm and zenny. Great work! I stop videos immediately if the sound quality hurts my ears.
Wow, thank you! And good luck in your new home!
I loved this! Very well done video..My hubs and I are moving to Koh Samui from California in 20 days 11 hrs and 28 mins (sight unseen!) This is one of my fave Koh samui videos (and I’ve seen them all!) This put a big pep in my step…I am beyond excited to be there.
Thanks for the vid, looking at a trip to Flores in August. Do the restaurants take credit cards on the whole?
Nice video footage. I could do without the gay references though. Not interesting.
Can you show more of azores or any other places similar to this? ❤️❤️❤️
Guys you are amazing and the islands too! What are the cheaper times to go to azores?
We will be there next month! Thanx for your great video !
Went to Flores in 2023 myself and yes loved your video …..
GRAZIE ❤
Nice video! I'm preparing for a trip to Flores in April. Do you need to speak Portuguese to interact with the people on the island, or did they understand English? I'm going to learn as much as I can before I get there, just in case.
I had no issues with language. Most everyone we interacted with spoke English.
What was the intro song?
It's called "New Beginning". Here is a link. I got it through soundstripe, which is a subscription service I use that provides music for video. app.soundstripe.com/songs/14141
Great video is great. I am subscribing. One criticism. While your statements about your sexuality are funny, I'm more interested in the destination than if your knees are gay.
I miss the drinking water! Everywhere I went, fresh water cascading off cliffs everywhere! I watch videos of Flores and it brings me back to my happy place. Thanks for reigniting my memories of the most beautiful place I've ever been.
I'm glad you mentioned that. How many places do you feel comfortable drinking water from a stream or trickling off the side of a mountain? It's an amazing feeling. Thanks for watching and please feel free to subscribe and share.
I was born on this Island on July 5th, 1964. I was born in my grandmothers house in the village of Fazenda das Lajes. The small town of Lajes has the larger port that can accept larger cargo ships on the southern end of Flores. I have been back to visit in the summer of 1991. The people leave because there's no jobs to make a good paycheck. And especially, there's no shopping. All the coffee, sugar, flour and other foods are shipped in from Portugal on cargo ships. This makes the items shipped in more expensive than usual. My father told us that in 1966 when we immigrated to the US that the population of Flores was about 15,000 people. Farmers would get in arguments and fights if your cows jumped onto their property and ate the vegetation on the owners property. Over crowding was the problem with people and animals back in the 60's.
Thank you for that interesting bit of history and context. I can't recall visiting Lajes but I remember seeing it on the map. I can definitely imagine there being a few fights over itinerant cows. One thing I found curious was what I perceived as the sharing of goats as a means of maintaining lawns, which I found interesting. Thanks for watching and please feel free to subscribe and share.
Excellent video, content, commentary, and conclusion that peace and quiet are good reasons to travel. Congratulations on an auspicious start for a promising travel series.
Thank you for the kind words, Paulo! Thanks for watching and please feel free to subscribe and share.
Magical, charming and the perfect amount of wit! Definitely felt the joy and love of the adventure (and cheese&coffee😅) in your video🤗 Love! Love!
Thank you for the kind words! I've finally worked off all the cheese. Thanks for watching and please feel free to subscribe and share.
Amazing video, except the coffee comments 😂 thank you!
😂
Beautiful video! Thank you for putting this video together.
Thank You! Thanks for watching and please feel free to subscribe and share.
Thank you for this beautiful video! I feel like I was there with you both! Amazing camera work and lovely narration. Hoping to visit this summer but having a hard time deciding which of the 9 islands to visit. You sold me on the beauty of this incredible island paradise.
Danielle I haven't visited the other islands, but Tass (my traveling companion in the video) has been to several and I think Flores is his favorite. If you are looking for a more dynamic and populated island, Tass says Sao Miguel is the way to go.
Great video! I was born in Santa Cruz and grew up in the parish of Caveira. I've been in the US since 1980 and was just in Flores in July 2022 and will be back next year. Loved your video, can't wait to see more!
Thank you friend! I hope to make more. Please share and subscribe!
Wow! Benjamin! That's how you do a travel video. I've been a little obsessed with the Azores for a few years now and have avidly consumed every piece of content about the Islands. I can say with confidence; this was head and shoulders above the rest. Visually stunning and intelligently narrated, all brought together with storytelling that felt intimate and informative all at once. Truly masterful work. I find myself with a new appreciation for Flores, for your channel, and for my heterosexual knees. Please keep making more episodes.
Thank you Daniel! That means so much! I hope to do more. Please subscribe to my channel and share!
Beautifully done! I loved the combination of the narration and lovely scenery. I've watched many videos on the Azores and if they aren't quick Instagram channel or company adverts, then they are often solely drones shots or family home videos. Your video fills a nice spot of giving a great feel for a place with details and narration but still allowing time to appreciate nature. It's great!!
Thank you very much! I appreciate that feedback. Please feel free to share
@@benjamincarver I will!
This is beautiful. Many more please!
